The most important thing that any photographer needs is experience. Knowing what settings to use and how to maximize the capabilities of your camera are more important than having the best gear. I've seen bad pictures taken with a Canon R5 and L glass (out of focus, portraits taken with amazing glass at f11, bad framing, unflattering light, etc) and I've seen great pictures taken with a 6d + 35mm F2/85mm F1.8. Framing, camera settings, lighting and focus, master these on a cheap camera and you can get amazing results.
