Was already in love with this new album by the first few songs, such a shame Donald Glover’s leaving Childish Gambino with this final album, but damn he left with a masterpiece
@@tainadelcaribe he'll prolly do a new album under the Donald Glover name or something. I don't think he's done with music, just done with this character.
If that last song is any indicator, he has so much exploring in music left to do. Fucking sick track. Feel like he’s just done with the rap shit, maybe I’m coping
I've never been a huge CG fan. I just thought his music was too experimental. I decided to check out Bando Stone and I was not disappointed. Looking forward to the film when it releases.
@@zoesanaafostergolver888 I listened to Camp. It's definitely a different rap album than I'm used to hearing nowadays. The lyricism is raw and real and there's not a bland moment on that album because it switches up instrumentals on every song. It's definitely an album to listen to at night for certain.
my advice to those that aren’t really gravitating towards it is to stop looking at it purely for one sound. Gambino is a jack of all trades and once you remember just how versatile he is, you get a lot more open-minded when it comes to his later projects and music in general. I think this is easily AOTY and his best album to date
I agree, the only negative i can see in this album is that while the good songs are very good, the worst songs are REALLY bad. The production was great overall but at times was a little bit too much. And i am not a huge fan of Glover’s soft high pitched voice. However, i really liked the album. Its a solid 7-8 for me. Could be in conversation for AOTY but compared to other projects this year it shouldn’t win.
Its his best work for sure but Because the Internet is still my favorite by him personally. His best works are Bando Stone Awaken! My Love Atavista Because the Internet Camp & Kauai In saying this i actually love all of his albums lol
Same for me I prefer Gambino because I just think he's more established and has more consistently good music but Tyler is a once in a generation songwriter
Donald is one of my favorite artists ever and no matter what anyone says I’ll always be a fan. Because the internet changed my life and music taste and him someone a young black nerd that never felt like I fit in anywhere could look up to means so much to me.
7:51 he wasn’t really seeking any validation I think from hip-hop/rap especially. I’ve seen tons of his interviews him saying “i’m not a rapper’. He never chased for that title, or any other … he just wants to create, tell the stories in his, own way, it’s that simple really.
He actually appointed his as Wayne predecessor to rap/hip hop years ago in the beginning (mixtape: Culdesac song:I be on that)of his music career and started off as a lil Wayne/drake type style then by because of the internet he show more versatility as a artist and from that point we have what he is now a well rounded artist.
I just got here. I didn't know much about him, but my friend invited me to see childish gambino in concert afew days and the show was amazing. Right after, Ive been listening to all of his released music including the new album and im in love.
That's the beauty of great work. It doesn't need to be accepted by the other work that's out there to be validated. He has the same widescale platform that other hip-hop artists do and the people clearly validate it by acknowledging it. CG definitely did his thing and his talent and message is clear.
would love to see more artists push the boundaries of their genre/style like Gambino, not every song was a hit for me, but it was more interesting than albums with 10 tracks that are more or less the same thing
Lithonia music video is incredible and I hope that somebody else tries this in 20 years who grew up with Gambino and they do it out of respect and just innovate upon it, they have the same 3-4 minute song, it gets randomly interrupted like 2:30 minutes in and then for 15 seconds it is just utmost shock with it being even more of a jump scare, even more disgusting and gory with blood everywhere and so many questions, and then just the promise of being ultimately disturbed more than you thought music could ever make you feel! I love this music video and I hope somebody else will do this in an even better way!
Saw him in concert in Tampa 2 weeks ago. I've seen a lot of shows in my time. From Marilyn Manson to WuTang I've seen it all. But Childish Gambino was hands down my favorite concert. I left feeling like I experienced something truly special.
In my personal experience listening to this album was pretty good, specially with the songs "No Excuses" for that Jungle Jazzy ambience and "Lithonia" for being the 2010 Rock song in the album
I have never been a big Childish Gambino fan. I’ve liked a few of his singles here and there, but I would never consider myself a true fan so maybe my opinion isn’t 100% valid but I thought this album was exceptional. Did not expect this from Gambino and if it truly is his last album, this is definitely one to be proud of.
The new album reminds me of all his work in one and even the low moments in the album are still real nice and I love this album already so sad to see gambino off but at least it went out in a bang
He just did his thing. im sure other artists evolved he made music and took chances while doing it. i can say each album was different. Nothing was repetitive, and will say he will be missed and dont get much credit for his music ability just because hes way more than just a musician hes a entertainer.
I love the album. It feels like he's both proving he is more than accomplished as a rapper, but also displaying he could have made it in other genres of music too, especailly near the end of the record. Running around feels like an early 2000s pop punk song, Dadvocate has this soft country vibe that he's made his own, and Happy Survival strays into chill reggae feelings. It takes you across so many feelings in such a short time. It's never a shock to hear the greatness he puts out, but it was surprising to be taken to so many different places in just an hour.
