- Haha I was so excited to make this video. For those of you who don't know, the tagline of my channel is deep chats in all black. So do I wear black all the time? Ok like 90% of the time. There are odd days I wear color but it's usually on off days.
I usually talk about subjects on life and pursuing a creative career, but I get asked SO often if I actually only wear black. So this one is for you guys.
Wearing black is a hack I do so that I don't have to stress over what to wear. It is such a blessing to be able to match everything in your wardrobe and not EVER feel like you have nothing to wear. We all know that feeling...

I have one problem with wearing black - my wardrobe is like a black hole, I can't see the individual pieces, I often forget what I have. On the other hand - every now and then I get nice surprises when I find an item I had completely forgot that I own :D
literally me. I lose all my shirts all the time because they.are.all.the.same
You need to create some system to separate them. Maybe things you can clip onto the clothing thar are in different colors? So you can put it in categories and then you can take the clipper on and off the clothing.
@@888records they are in cathegories, but I have a tiny wardrobe, clothes get shoved together, and it's hard to keep a system going. fortunately I'm home most of the time, I only wear a few pieces (the most comfortable ones), so I don't even have to open my wardrobe more than a few times every month ^_^

I feel like black has a kind of depth and mystery to it that no other colour has, I think it's a very sensual colour and yet it's just so calming and protective, I just love wearing black so much 🖤

My coworker asked why wear only black. I've converted to the minimalist lifestyle and I stress so much less getting ready for work.
Could not agree more! As someone with ADHD the overwhelm of colours makes me want to puke 😓. Only owning articles that are comfortable and can all be worn together makes everything simple in the morning. Also, as a person who dresses reasonably modest, I can say it makes me feel more appropriate (I am a woman, I am curvy, I am uncomfortable being sexualized by society for having a living human body 🤦).
@@jjbowman4653 but like, if you decide to dress in a way that won’t attract attention because you fear you might get sexualized, isn’t that kinda part of the system? Like, the way you dress is influenced by our (sometimes nasty) society. Why not thinking “f*ck you, I’m gonna wear whatever I want. Try and stop me honey.”
As for the cat problem you could simply get a black cat and she’d even be your twin every day

lmao people can never seem to grasp the concept! I only own black and when I look at my wardrobe it gives me tingles I love it so much!! We share all common reasons for loving black so much haha even every single under garment is black :) Everything matches everything!!

I’m late to the all black wardrobe life, but ever since I switched from my bright colorful patterns to the chic effortless style of all black, I’ve been so much happier.
Besides blue Jean's, wearing all black is just so much easier, it's harder to mix and match colored clothing, my favorite color is purple and I like light powder blue, colors are nice but black goes with literally everything

Black clothes are the way to go! I’m not a fan of colorful clothes. I’ve tried wearing other stuff with more color but it’s just too colorful for me. Also I completely agree it’s a lot easier to hide stains. In my business I walkways ruin any clothes that are not black right away.
I move exercise alot. If i had white or color clothes bet they gonna be gray in 30 minute

The reason why i usually pick black, it's so chill, and literally goes with everything lol. So you dont have to worry about your outfit not matching. Also, you never have to worry about staining it

I completely relate! I'm 46 and have worn pretty much all black for decades. I have a couple pieces that arent black to wear when I feel like it, but black is my daily "uniform" . Makes me feel sexy, not self conscious, can focus on what's important. Its me!

I wear all black ,'my favorite color', I feel confident and sexy in all black. Plus its SOOOOO much easier to find outfits faster instead of going round and round with colors and figure out if it matches or not. Black is my happy color😍😊

Even my hair was black when my husband met me. He also wears all black and he’s Latino and looks so hot in black lol. It’s just classic and edgy!
My hair is curly brown and honey blonde and I think that’s a good contrast to all black outfits.

I get more attention and stand out way more for wearing black than wearing any other color . And I don’t wear it in a gothic way either , I’m a very blazer chic person. It’s easy , looks put together , saves money and time ! The rest of my life is colorful except my wardrobe 😂
Black just suits me. I'm a very calm and laid back person who doesn't care so much about materialistic things. Also as a person with dark hair and a monotone voice it just really fits who I am. It just looks good with everything.

Right on, young vampire! I'm 72, wear only black, and--contrary to the belief of my sometimes concerned friends and family--I'm a very happy person! Not gloomy, not goth. Love jewelry, makeup, fashion, other accessories. Love life in general! In fact, the only time I feel unsettled and not at all like myself is when I'm *not* wearing black. For all the wise reasons you mention and more. I feel relaxed and settled, always comfortable, and when I look in the mirror, I look like ME. It is only at times in my life when I've forced myself to wear more color (because I felt like maybe I "should") that the mirror says, "Who on earth is THAT?" Side note: I do live in a place with quite hot summers, and I really have no problem finding summer clothes in black. I never sit in the sun, anyway, so that's no problem either. ... Totally agree with all of your reasons for adopting black 🖤Fear not though ladies - You can definitely do all black in a hot place 🖤 I live in Western Australia and went predominantly black a few years ago. I’m almost transitioned to all black and if you choose the right styles and fabrics, you can rock black in 40C heat. I’m also a redhead with ghostly pale skin that doesn’t tan and honestly haven’t noticed any odd looks.

I can vouch that when I was wearing bright yellows and vibrant colors I was the most depressed. Now that I’m at a healthier point in my mental health, I am attracted to wearing more black. It feels grounded.
I used to wear a lot of black starting in high school years. Sometimes purposely, sometimes because black just seems to match with everything and I have to match. But in my late 20’s or early 30’s I finally started to let family and friends opinions get to me, making me think I needed to wear more colors. (I always got compared to Wednesday addams) So I tried to be more colorful. I had been contemplating this subject lately and I know that I was way more comfortable then. I’m going back to my dark ways so I can enjoy my outfits again ! 🖤
I've been wearing mostly black for the last 20 years. Maybe it's ADHD or color and light sensitivity but I can concentrate more easily when I'm wearing less distracting clothing. This also includes texture and scratchy tags. I hate the comments from others however. I'm tired of people asking me if someone has died.

I only wear 🖤DARK colors. Mainly black, dark brown, dark blue and medium to dark gray with flattering pops of color of course … shoes, bags & jewelry.
I love feeling put together, so when it comes to black I love to grab different textures, whether its a regular v-neck, or a lace up shirt, turtle neck etc. I've been starting to wear mainly black tops with more colorful center pieces like a jacket or i'll have a pair of pants that are pattern/designs

I can totally relate with this. Black is the most effortless and universally flattering. I don't need to think much when I wear black because I know that it'll suit me. There's no such thing as a cool tones or warm toned black. It is a no brainer. Shopping was way easier when I focused on this color. I still have clothes in other colors mainly navy, grey and white but black always have a special place in my heart.
I have to add that wearing black takes away one of biggest dilemma ever which is what bra color to wear. We can literally wearing rainbow undies underneath and no one will know
As a man I seem to have accidentally adopted a 99% black wardrobe in my early 20s as I hated trying to shop for clothes and I always just seem comfortable in black. Saving money was also a part of it I suppose. Black Vans, Black jeans and black pea coat is pretty much my every day look. I only recently had it hit me that I don’t wear colour but now I just want to own the black look 🤷🏻♂️ nice video
I’m here for the Morticia Adams goal. I wear all black and honestly you are right. Endless combinations that keeps my fashion self entertained to be creative. Every once in a while I throw in some color but the all black is soo classy. It’s my favorite because you easily look well put together. I mostly get the “black is your favorite color huh?” When honestly blue is my favorite color.

I love black and most of my wardrobe is black, seconds is white and I do have some colorful pieces however they are extras, they feel more like accessories to my black outfit. Black is THE BEST.

I only wear black too. I have been buying way less clothes than before, because if it’s not black am not buying it lol. And black outfits always look good so you don’t have to keep buying new clothes all the time. 🖤

I prefer to wear black because, as you stated, it is more practical. I try to add color into my outfits in different ways but, especially using accessories, purses, shoes and jackets. No one has caught on to me except my boyfriend who thought I was wearing the same clothes when we first started dating until he realized it was different clothes in the same color😂.
Oh wow, funny this should pop up! My name is also Lydia and I adopted an all black wardrobe about 6 years ago! Best decision ever. I wanted to streamline whatever aspects of my life that I could and it was an easy decision. I HATE shopping, so when I need new items, this makes it super simple because if it's not available in black, oh well. Not to mention it makes getting dressed so easy.

my "want" vs my needs. Clothes came up in journal!! 100% plus a thousand % agree with everything you said! It's a sign to continue with my thought of ONLY wearying black :) I don't think I can do vintage but I'm liking the idea of only wearing black :) I also noticed that when I wear ALL black I feel safe and happy with what I'm wearing. I don't necessarily feel like I don't have anything to wear. So happy to come across your channel :p

Because I have been going back and forth with myself for MONTHS because I’ve wanted to adopt and all black and denim wardrobe. I actually LOVE light pink, it’s my favorite color but I feel most confident in black. It’s just simple and no fuss and can be accessorized with no issue. I also realized as i decorated my home, I never ever regret painting anything black lol.

Hi Lydia ! Interestingly I had a phase where for a whole year I wore nothing but black ! I was around the same age as you and same as you I had everyone ( including family ) asking me if I was depressed ... or the odd person jokingly asking me - "who died" , ( school was tough for me lol ). And , funny enough a couple of years before that I also happened to own both a bright yellow shirt and an Orange one as well. Truth is I was indeed quite depressed within myself and with life. I did not feel I fit in anywhere and I was learning to be lonely. Is this an INFJ general quality ?? Eventually me wearing black called so much attention that I gave in and stopped. But to this day I still own black clothes and black suits for work which I love. I think wearing uniforms is also an INFJ thing ( although my uniforms tend to be suits because of the nature of my work ). Great video - took me back a few years ! thx Alex.

I'm totally with you when you said no matter what white clothes you have there is always some stain on it at the end of the day. When it comes to black though it's really neutral and from my perspective draws a lot of attention and black just looks calmer, more relaxing and better looking in general. 🖤🕴

I agree. I worked at uniqlo where we had an all black dress code. And so I bought a bunch of black clothes and aw man. Black clothes last longer, and like you mentioned everything matches but I went back to wearing a lot colores especially white because my skin is very dark and the contrast with lighter colors is something I can't pass on.

For me was in the contrary, when I was young I always wore black, now I am an adult I like to wear white, do not get me wrong, I still wear black, is easy, combines with everything, makes you look thin and absorb heat in the cold weather, but here in Brazil is hot a lot of time, and white reflects it making the person cooler, also, I have a darker complexion and white give a good contrast on it, just like black have a good contrast on lighter skins, and white give né confidence, make me feet bold and seem, I do not know, I like wearing white
For 25 years I’ve always been wearing black I’ve always been asked if that’s all I wear. I have 75 black t shirts as a 26 year old I still wear them and wear black tank tops as well. I will never understand why people ask if why people wear all black.

I decided that for 2024 I'm going to try only wearing black, white and beige. My favorite color of all time is pink, and my room interior and decor is filled with pastel colors but I'm so tired of spending so much time deciding what to wear. So I have stocked away all my colored-clothes in the attic and is now only wearing black mostly and it's so liberating. Going clothes shopping knowing what you shall buy is only black is also not only much easier, takes less time, but it's actually a lot cheaper since there are always some good black clothes on sale everywhere.
I have a generally all black wardrobe with the very few pieces of dark red or purple if the piece is super super amazingly cute lol
My family either calls me Elvira when I wear my hair real big or Morticia when I wear all black with red lipstick and hair parted in the middle or sometimes Cher the singer 🤷🏻♀️lol!!

I also often get the question: Why I wear all black? I think the people who ask that, associate the color black with; goth, death, depression, bad things in general.
‘And us black wearing people’ associate black with: chique, edgy, cool, avant-garde, stylish. I think that the main difference. And for summer, I just go for black 100% linen, nice and airy. 😎

I initially started wearing black to hide my chubby, but after I lost weight it just became a habit I guess. It’s my comfort color and not to mention you always look put together. I wear black every day, I've been wearing black every day for almost a decade I feel uncomfortable in colored clothes. there are some colors that I would wear they're just hard to find in shades I like. I love silver and periwinkle I love black with pastel metallic colors or black with striking neon pink purple or green I'm not a fan of yellow though.

For me I have a variety of color clothes because I like fashion so much it's like art and a puzzle for me to get creative... All those colorful clothes that I have doesn't mean that I am an outgoing person very angelic and bubbly and sassy... I'm actually a quiet and observe person I keep my conversation limited as possible not because antisocial but I just never thought of having conversation randomly.
