  • We break down what is needed to be able to switch your light bar or spot lights on and off with your high beams in a Toyota. It is a rather simple installation but fiddly to get your head around.

I was struggling with the same problem thanks to you now it works!!! If i may add something the “negative high beam” on the bulb is not always a “negative“ so if you have a led bar with position lights the position lights wil turn off when you switch to normal driving lights because the “negative” on the relay wil be cut off and kicks back in of you switch to high beam. In the Netherlands its allowed to have 4 high beam lights in my case 2 original 2 led lights! “Offroad use only” 😜

Dude ...I seriously recommend you edit this as certain light bars are not permitted to be used as driving lights with high beam under NZ rules , they should be used as a seperate system and termed "work light" ....keep up the good work

I think most, if not all, lights bars aren't legal to be run with on the road. Not saying it is or isn't legal to run light bars to your high beams. If you wanted to though, here is how you do it.

Nope all accessory lights are perfectly legal to use on the road provided they turn off with the dip beams and you have a separate switch to run the high beams without the accessory light as per the NZTA VIRM

Just kidding.. thanks for the video.. I did it the same way on my Impreza and now I was just looking online for the best way for my new BRZ and you reminded me of the negative switching which I’m sure will be on the brz being subi/toyota.

In tasmania your light bar needs to be wired into your high beam, it's law

You will fail a WOF doing this. And led spot is a “work” light and therefore cannot be connected in any way to the normal lights.
I had my LED lights set so that I could only turn them on when the headlights were on and the garage would not give it a WOF until they were on their own switch completely independent of the vehicle lights.

Well aware you will fail a WOF. Never said you would pass. What this can do though is allow you to run that to then a 3 way switch or another switch in the dash. Allowing you accessory lights to either be switched on via a switch (for wof reason) or high beam (for real life reasons)

To be able to turn them off from being attached to the HighBeams? Check out my Auxbeam Ditch Light installation to see how i wired them to high beams or switches.

Nope. Didn't work. Suzuki's are the same as a Toyota, negative switch. Not working. Any ideas?
