Nice to see an old Chrysler that isn't rusted out. And good to see you are not putting it out on the salt-laden winter roads we have to deal with here in the frozen north.
My mom had a 1973 Fury III Hardtop Sedan with the 400 2V and it would always start right up when it was cold outside, the colder the better. In the summer though, first start in the morning no matter what you tried it would always flood out and you'd have to crank it forever with the pedal on the floor before it would finally start and then you'd have to rev it to clear the flood. The rest of the day it would start fine. It was a really nice vehicle and the only hardtop sedan I've seen until seeing this Newport in the video.
These are great cars - I had one the same color as yours - my wife got a ticket with it in Portland, Oregon because it was a foot longer than the metered parking spot... She wasn't very happy!
I remember going car shopping with my parents and them buying a new 1972 Chrysler Newport Royal, it was blue and big. We took cross country vacations in it and with the 4 of us we had all the room you could want. I always thought the taillights on that car looked great. We would be cruising through death valley mid summer at 85 mph with the a/c freezing us out.
Love that car that's the 70,' s So cool and in great condition, what a great video ..your video's are fantastic never miss one mate in fact i'm now watching your video's again all the best with the Plymouth she is looking fantastic still wish you lived down the road so i could help ..
Thanks for the reply, I'm normally an American car guy, but I love the Citroen road trip! Hell with what the tv shows say. Build what you like and drive it! Half those people probably don't know the 'pleasure' of a wrench slip/skinned knuckle on a cold rainy day anyway. Good on ya. I've gotta take a road trip to visit some day
Hey guys, love your videos! Glad to see you're saving this stuff and making it useful, whether it's American or European iron, love the eclectic collection and it shows that fixing old cars should be about having fun! Restored a 57 f100 for my dad from a pile of crap. 312, 4 speed. All re used junk parts. Wish I could be a Cold War motors agent. Thumbs up from auburn, ca.
Hey, thanks for the kind words. A 57 F100? Cool; if you are doing all the work yourself with no money and used parts, you are already an Agent, haha! Keep up the good work! Cheers from Canada.
Thats such a cool car!! I had no idea you could even get radio delete on a luxurious chrysler like that! I love oddball cars like that! My 1963 Dodge 330 sedan is a radio delete car too but its a bare bones 6 cylinder car, the kinda car youd expect to have no radio.
cruising in the old Chrysler Land yachts are very cool ! yours is in exceptionally nice condition . its always fun to watch your vids . don't be shy , record more and put em on , Ray in Pa.
Scott, not sure if you know this but Torqueflites don't warm up (pump fluid) in park. A friend who is the transmission man at the local Chrysler dealership recommends starting the old Mopars in neutral so the trans will pump and warm up.
We had a top of the line '72 New Yorker four door hardtop we bought from my grandfather when he downsized to a 1980 Cordoba. I think we got the better end of that deal. Only bad thing was that Grandpa had problems with the posi-track and so he'd swapped it out for a standard rear end.
Remember that Chrysler products in 1960s and early 70s (pre-1975) were "engineers cars" basically bulletproof if maintained and kept away from the dreaded tinworm....
Hi I love your chrysler I am a chrysler man I have a 67 truck 74 plymouth valiant and 85 chrysler 5th avenue.Your dog is so so cute sitting in the huge back seat just like he or she was a person haha cute.I don't know when the last time you replaced the spark plugs but i bet a new set would make it idle and run alot better. And your carb was loading up mine dose that thats an old chrysler for you no problem there.I just want to say thats a real car compared to these new plastic bubbles now days !!!
did you say 2 bbl?figured that boat for a 4bbl all day long. always loved those land yachts since the early 70s, when some of my first car memories of them are from.
Cold-starting an old, factory carburetor Mopar? That's easy! As you initially crank, give the throttle one full, quick depression. Let it fully rise immediately, then--while still cranking--immediately press and hold the throttle 1/4-way open. VOILA!! It's started and running! To do a hot start, follow the same procedure, but omitting the full depression of the throttle.
Thanks for checking it out! Most of the cars on my channel are mine; the ones that are not belong to friends of mine, or to my brother. We are all pretty addicted to old cars, haha. Cheers from Canada!
Is this a Chrysler Newport or a NewYorker? Excuse my ignorance, as I'm an ignorant European only recently looking into American classic ownership. I'm planning on buying a four door American from pre 1975. Requirements: - Bulky sound - At least 6 litre V8 - Reasonable condition for it's age - Max $20.000 I'll be coming to the US for 2 weeks to testdrive and look at several cars and make a purchase and the NewYorker is on my list for now. Anyone got any other suggestions?
No. Ignition coil only deals with ignition components. If you're not sure about charging, try to load test your alternator. If that tests fine though, the voltage regulator is a common part to replace. Regulator is a little (usually black) box somewhere on the drivers side of the engine compartment with one with one wire going in and one coming out.
No way in hell Id do that to my Newport; not without plugging it in overnite at any rate. She looks gorgeous though; hella lot rust then my 2 door hardtop.
its great you really care and have passion for your cars you collect.. i love your old mopars..i have a fifth ave and a duster and a dakota and a ram ..check my channel for cold starts

It is hard to get those old beauties stuck for long.

Wow I can't believe it started that easily!

WOW< I would love to buy this car and fix her up as my daily driver!
Give credit to Chrysler for keeping the ammeter long after everyone else had gone to an alternator light.
Do you throw an anchor when u park this boat
Such a nice car, would love to have one like it!

When the Ford won't go
And your GM needs a tow
The MOPAR always makes it
I don't know about Canada, but in U.S electronic ignition was std. on Chrysler Corp. cars and trucks, in 1972.
Good vedieo and great car

"Nothing special" - she's a survivor, that makes her special... Radio Delete is also special and way cool!
Hey thanks for checking it out! All the best from us here...
did you say 2 bbl?figured that boat for a 4bbl all day long. always loved those land yachts since the early 70s, when some of my first car memories of them are from.
Man I would have that beauty in a garage not in the snow.
What a nice car bro!!!
Seems like 4dr cars are more common in canada
42 years old and doesn't even have electronic ignition. Mopar committed a lot of sins but that car isn't one of them.

When the choke plate starts opening it changes the air/fuel ratio.

Does that boat float?
Awesome car! And love your dog, so cool ^^ So tell me, all the cars from your movies are yours? Grtz, Nick (NL)
Thanks for checking it out! Most of the cars on my channel are mine; the ones that are not belong to friends of mine, or to my brother. We are all pretty addicted to old cars, haha. Cheers from Canada!
coldwarmotors Wow cool! I love old cars, the sound of a V8.... nothing better then that! Thx for your great movies, Always great fun to look at! ^^
Did you know that a Holley 1946 can replace a Holley 1945? The 1946 has the choke on the carburetor. It fits on Ford's like a 6-200. It's on a 1983.
Carbon footprint, hah.
can u take some new videos for us of this old beauty
Beautiful car do u still have it??
Thanks! Still have the old girl, still running beautifully!
how much would a car just like this cost in that shape?
I probably would have put a car cover on it, keeping it outside like that.
hey man , you still have her ? cool car
Oh yeah! I still drive the 'Port, but the trans is giving trouble now, so it's gotta come out... Cheers!

Factory Deleted radio what does that mean?
It means that it didn't come with a radio from the factory.
Love it my 71 Newport is better lol jk hows that 50 Chevy
This car doesn't look that bad. Who cares what mainstream collectors say about it?
Let me guess...400 2bbl.
No way in hell Id do that to my Newport; not without plugging it in overnite at any rate. She looks gorgeous though; hella lot rust then my 2 door hardtop.
