When you notice you have a puncture, do not continue driving your Toyota, as this can rapidly damage both the tyre and wheel. Stop your car safely and away from traffic if possible. If needed, set up a warning triangle and turn on the hazard lights. Apply the parking brake so the car doesn’t accidentally move.
Locate and examine the puncture. Don’t use the repair kit if it is larger than 4 millimetres in diameter, if the wheel rim is damaged, or if the tyre has been flat or at low pressure for an extended period.
Move the vehicle so that the puncture is positioned as high as possible in the top half of the tyre. If a nail or screw is in the tyre - a common occurrence - do not remove it. Make sure also that the air valve is positioned in the top half of the tyre. This will help stabilise the bottle of sealant you will be using.
The Toyota tyre repair kit is located in the boot under the false floor. The kit consists of a compressor for re-inflating the tyre, a bottle of sealant you’ll use to fill the hole, and warning stickers.
First apply a sticker to the wheel to show there is sealant in the tyre. Apply another to the A-pillar to remind you to change the wheel at the next opportunity.
Remove the valve cap and screw the sealant bottle tightly on the valve. Then remove the cap from the end of the sealant bottle. Unravel the hose at the back of the compressor and screw it tightly onto the sealant bottle. Unravel the wiring connected to the compressor and plug it into the auxiliary socket inside the car.
For a non-hybrid vehicle, start the engine. For a hybrid vehicle have the “ready” light on. Turn on the compressor. It should take no more than 10 minutes to inflate the tyre to an acceptable level. Then switch off the compressor and press the yellow button to test the pressure in the tyre.
It is important to check your owner’s manual for the correct pressure level for your vehicle. If the tyre does not reach this you will need to call a recovery service.
If the pressure is OK, remove the sealant bottle from the valve and re-install the valve cap. You then need to drive about 3 miles, as the sealant spreads itself around and over the punctured area. Drive with caution because the tyre is not yet fully re-inflated.
Then stop and re-examine the tyre. If it appears damaged, you should call a recovery service. If it remains inflated and looks OK, refit the kit and continue to inflate the tyre to the pressure listed in the owner’s manual.
The car is now safe to drive. But don’t exceed 50 miles per hour. And accelerate, brake and corner gently. The repair is only a temporary measure. Go to a Toyota repairer as soon as you can.
There you will receive expert assistance and the best possible care for your Toyota - ensuring that your driving experience remains safe and pleasurable.

Repair with this kit is more costly, takes a longer time, and may not solve your flat tyre. Many cases, your car will still require to be towed when it fails to inflat.
Workshop may render your tyres not safe for use and you may still need to purchase a new pair of tyres.
Workshops do not sell a single tyre, minimum 2 tyres for tyres beyond repair due to the gel that's left inside the punctured tyre.
Change to a spare tyre in contrast is easy and takes just 5mins or less for me. I will be on my way even if my punctured tyre is beyond repair by the gel kit. And that saves me the cost and time needed to call a tow truck, and wait for another 30mins or more for his arrival. Replacing a used bottle of gel is not cheaper than calling a tow truck, if u have to use it, u might as well call a tow truck from the start. Spare tyre can be reuse at no cost for your next puncture.

Spare wheel is better. It takes some space in the trunk, it may be a bit harder to change(sometimes) but you can change it in less then 10-15min. No need to worry if the hole is to big, or if the platform comes to late... :)

Had to buy a second hand spare wheel and jack kit because some clerk thought it's a great idea to save couple of bucks by giving you this useless piece of sh...kit.
If I'm traveling somewhere and tyre gets punctured, I don't want to loose half of the day just to repair the damn thing. If you apply this for fixing a small puncture, it will cost you much more to get it repaired, than to actually buy a spare wheel - tyre needs to be reinstalled, cleaned and repaired, and you will need a new valve and wheel balancing.
It takes you max 30 minutes to swap the spare wheel, continue on driving normally, and then fix the wheel when you have time. Small punctures are quick and easy to repair and they usually don't require tyre removal from the rim.

Supply spare wheel and we might buy your cars. These only work on the smallest of punctures. Which most are not. You have to buy a new wheel and tyre to move your car. Or take the punctured tyre and wheel somewhere to get it fixed and then bring it back. All the time your car is jacked up at the side of the road.. In cars this size it's not a problem to carry a spare wheel. So fit one please..
