Produced by Boy Scouts of America, this short, color promotional film acts as recruitment material to encourage young boys to enroll and join the organization. The film uses a combination of historical footage and clips of different boy scouts and troops engaged in a diverse array of experiences and activities to entice the viewer. Narration is featured throughout the film in order to further underscore the endless possibilities and important passions and skills that can be taught, learned, and nurtured through the Boy Scouts of America organization. While there is no official copyright date, based off of the footage it seems the film is from the early 1970s, post Apollo 11 moon mission.

Old scout here, just loved it. I was in a church sponsored troop and the scoutmaster was not a very good woodsman, but was a good person who donated a lot of time to help a bunch of kids have a better childhood. It breaks my heart to hear the stories of the predators in that one time great organization.

I lived in Oregon in the late 60s early 70s my scout master retired so my dad and a Klamath Indian guy became our scout masters we did a 50 mile hike in the 3 sisters wilderness and went camping several times a year we were a small troop but we always got first place in the camporee. I made it to star and was the senior patrol leader and order of the arrow recipient then we moved back to San Diego and I was no longer in scouting but I still live by the scout oath I'll be 64 in a couple weeks and retired but I still go camping several times a year and spend a couple weeks every summer camping and fishing in Montana and Wyoming

I was a scout in the 60s, I just wish it was still around for the kids. The way it is shown here, unfortunately, the wrong people who should never should have been there was and destroyed all hope.

My biggest wish and disappointment, from the moment I could read all the old books and watch these films, to the present day at eighteen years old, has been to be strengthened, taught, challenged, and developed in the ways this program did for the young back then, unfortunately I grew up doing homeschool, working around the house, and playing for the rest of the day day in and day out, and even that was with great restrictions.

The people who are most likely to bring scouting back to its former glory are the former scouts themselves. I'll be there.

Funny thing is, when he's talking about Neil Armstrong, all the photos are of Buzz Aldrin.

From what I understand, there's much less of a focus on outdoor activities today.

Eh, still the main focus in my experience, but with additional focus on team building and leadership training, just as important imo

@@jcksnghst Just like the parents who had their sons molested because the BSA and local law enforcement helped cover up the crimes, refused to prosecute and let the leaders move on to another troop so they could do it again.

I was never touched by anyone from BSA in the 70's. We had a War veteran with one arm as a Scout Master. He made Men of Us. We went thru all the training to live off the Land, be self sufficient, and Respect all others. What happened in other troops is Disgusting. The scandal ruined an institute.

What happened was terrible. It was terrible because it hurt people and ruined one of the best youth programs in this country. I have been doing Scouts for 5.5 years, encountered many a youth, adult, youth leader, adult leader, of all different backgrounds and even different sexual preferences, but never once have I experienced nor heard of anything happening. There are rules in place to keep all this from happening. Rules followed by everyone form youth, to adults, to BSA staff. The BSA needs to make amends and then the country needs to move on. This program is desperately needed to sufficiently raise future generations.
