  • A speech given shortly before his death in which he puts out more sensible and well-researched ideas than it is fair of anyone to expect in a single speech

He's a major reason I'm double majoring in Biology and Creative Writing. He was a brilliant man and was accomplished in multiple forms of media. I'm still sad today that an idol of mine is gone.

Having put as many silly videos up as I have i thought the least I could do was put up something of value. That his words are delivered with such gentle humility makes them all the more powerful, I think

This is similar to his widely read essay "Let's Stop Scaring Ourselves" which was published in Parade magazine in 2004 and created quite a stir. Thanks for posting it. My college students read and write on this essay.

Great speech and video, thank you. Amazing how much we have declined since the time of this talk. How I wish we could return to more reason and less lying. Our schools are just terrible.

Died a bit later, when the greatest writer starts exposing environmental alarmists (State of Fear), nanotech that the government uses (Prey) and exposing genetic copyright monopolies (Next), don’t expect them to live much longer. Ask yourself why these books are not movies.

@10:00 That's also how many people die of cancer and many other diagnosed diseases. They pass out from self-neglect eventually out of depression and the loved one or care giver doesn't administer an IV because the "ailed has had enough" and they allow them to "slip away."
