I love to do a 1 minute plank as my last warm up exercise. Before going on my run. Definitely makes me feel like I hold myself better for the whole run.
Please make a 40-60 minute session video/ strength training routine in Gym, badly need one... Haven't started strength training since I'm lost what all to cover as a beginner ... I can already do 12K ... And I need to start strength routine to train any further
Thank you for these strength training alternatives. I always join for an impromptu session when youtube suggests one, and my watch is filling with tips for the next time.
Would love to see a 'if you have access to a gym' version. I've been doing running based strength training in the gym once a week for the past 15 months and it's helped hugely.
🏋️♂️ I desperately need to start doing some strength training. would love to see some stuff specifically designed to strengthen ankles and knees. I feel mine are really weak and could definitely make me quicker with some TLC.
Awesome, love a good follow along! Thank you! (Also, I love that there's something going on in the background of this follow along so I can satisfy my people watching urge too :D )
I like to do band exercises for my hips/performis muscles before I go on a run as part of my warm up. Wake them up before a run especially after sitting most of the day at work.
I'm a glutton for punishment and I've got the Sydney marathon this Sunday so I did a 14km run with an average pace of 3:49/km and then did this video 3 times for a total of 9 sets. Not a bad workout, although a bit more warning on the last plank would be nice, rather than "we'll start the last plank in...go." lol
I am wondering how I can get thinner legs? My legs are sturdy, bulky, strong but heavy. How do I get them thinner&lighter keeping same level of endurance (/strength)?
Strength training is essential, however I'm not sure this qualifies as strength training, maybe as a starter introduction to a complete beginner, but to build strength you need to lift heavy weights not do a billion goblet squats holding a light dumbbell in a certain time frame, this is more like interval training
That's not true. You don't need heavy weights (besides your body) to gain strength. Look at people who do calisthenics for example. There are of course different variations of bodyweight exercises for different skill and strength levels. Besides, runners aren't bodybuilders. Running specific workouts aren't the same as workouts for a weightlifter or the workouts you would do for trying to look cool at the gym.
@@TM-ng2bz well I'm happy to say that doing 4x 10 to 12 reps on a rear loaded squat with a body weight of 67kg with 110kg on a barbell has certainly helped my running in every aspect and I'm not a bodybuilder, but like I stated this isn't strength training at all, once you reach a level of strength neither is calisthenics you need to add weight to the bodyweight movements
🔧 The nearest I could find to a dumbbell emoji on my phone. A bit easier to move as well. Fun fact the word dumbbell comes from a 1700s craze to ring church bells for exercise. The demand outstripped the need for bell ringers so ropes that pulled a silent weight were invented, that morphed into what we know today.
Do you strength train? What other cross training videos would you like to see?
Explosives
and acceleration
-For VO2 max (no interval running).
-stuff that makes the knee stronger (just because it's my weakest point and hurts from time to time)
Maybe a workout specifically for people who sit a lot. It could have strength workouts and stretches for example

Sounds like a great warm up! Are planks your favourite strength training exercises? 😄
@@runningchannel mountain climbers and burpees are probably my favs. Full body killers.
I am still using the two home-workoutvideos you made in the beginning of covid-lockdown 😁. Works great for me.

Hi Danny! Great suggestion, we will see what we can do 😄
The trainer I see has us standing on one leg on a Bosu, round side up, as that engages the ankle muscles.
Yes and it has made all the difference in keeping me strong and healthy.
Great video guys. I love how your channel is expanding towards other training methods.
I have done this exercise after a 12km running, it is the best 👌. Thank you

Nice. Prefer this to others I've seen. Saved for my twice a week strength sessions. Thank you.
These are really good and easy to remember, just wondering how often should this session be completed? Is it an every day or just a few times a week?
