    Great show.
When I used to do private DJ Karaoke parties, I always cleaned the mics with alcohol and put new foam covers on. Yeah they would be dirty. (I bought them in bulk by the bags). Also I used a twin platter- twin cd deck, but I was the only one who touched that, the video monitors and speakers.
I do think it's important to keep gear clean as you speak of.

It can be so hard when you are busy...but after seeing this...I just may be a bit cleaner with my gear...lol

I used to work on radio. I can imagine that the board would be extremely dirty, because DJs would have to rush to and from the restroom. Who knows how well, or if they washed their hands at all!?

Ewwww...yeah I try not to think of that...lol
One of my cohorts used to brag about making it back within one song.

Funny, I just spent an hour cleaning my keyboard. I mean popping off all the keys, vacuuming then Q-tipping out all the food particles, and hand clean the caps by dipping in soapy water. Yes, I snack at my keyboard, a bad habit for many reasons. Thanks.

I got an ultrasonic cleaner to clean off mic screens recently. Works fantastically. Does nothing for rust… at that point you gotta replace the ball end or whatever youre dealin with. Foam is just a replacement thing. Cost of doin business.

I do like the approach of the BCM series from Neumann...the replaceable screens is a nice touch

Great video! Now I'm curious how a dirty/often used wind foam vs. wind foam washed with soap vs. wind foam exposed to sunlight (UV) compare.

This used to gross me out but after years I realized its pretty normal. Practically everything we touch in day to day life will have similar results.. Still kind of gross but its not some deadly disease or anyhing its been there our whole lives and nothing we can do about it.

Speaking of radio, I wouldn't want to see the results from some of the 24/7 used RE-20s that had been in air studios for decades. I was way too close to those suckers for far too long.
