I agree, that would have been fantastic but it has to borne in mind the safety implications and the limits of our technology. We used camcorders to film. A plastic scuba diving camera was all we had to protect the camera. We used to lower the housing by hand which limited the depth we could work in. For deeper water we used a pole to lower the camera which was static. No way could we scan left or right or alter the angle if the housing was sat on a stone. Indeed we didn't have any monitors. All we could do was try to get the camera level, in the right place and feed the fish up to it. Then it was a case of casting a rig onto the exact spot required. Positioning the camera and placing the rig accurately was actually harder than catching the fish. Of course, if you have a budget that runs to pro-cameramen and scuba divers, I guess it is pretty simple.
What a lovely river to fish for Barbel. The underwater filming was great to see.
Gutted they never got underwater footage on some prolific Trent swims 😢

Witham?
NO. Further North.
I'm only doing small rivers next year. I can't wait. Love them.
