August And Everything Else

A compilation of forgotten angling clips I discovered while clearing out my hard drive. They're laid over a couple of Counting Crows tracks from the classic album August And Everything After. The Crows released a live album back in Nov 2013, Echoes of the Outlaw Roadshow. Great band, great music and a few nice fish as well. Enjoy.

    I remember a session I had 15 barbel fishing double caster on the Trent using this method , a proper red letter day , it's never happened since after lots of trying at least not to that extent 😊

    IN A KINDA WAY ALL THOSE BARBELS ARE THE SAME‼️🥱🥱🥱 THAT'S ABSOLUTELY DIFFERENT WITH CARP‼️♥️

    • @thebobroberts
      @thebobroberts 6 дней назад

      True carp are all the same. Go back fat enough and you will find they were all commons. Leather carp were selectively bred from commons to make food preparation easier (scraping the scales). Mirrors are defective leathers so basically are defective carp. True species, roach, chub, bream, barbel, perch, pike, zander, dace, minnows, stickleback, etc are all pure species. It is carp that are the faulty interlopers.

    Bob Roberts, Angling abilite and journalism second to none, tells it as it is. Since this video was made, hundreds have followed, How many have said "if you care about Barbell ( or any fish for that matter)? just weight the ones that are special to you". None I know of. The words of a true angler, Fish welfare first.

    • @bobrobertsangling8208
      @bobrobertsangling8208 7 дней назад

      Thank you for those kind words. They were such a pleasure to work on and created on the tightest budget imaginable. We needed to sell just 79 copies to break even on volume one yet there was talk at the time of, if we don't break even there won't be a second volume.

    Great memories, fished the Dove extensively 2000-2010. Un fortunately saw the steady decline, very few barbel left now thanks to our furry friends, the otters. Recognised a lot of those swims, been back recently just to have a walk, looks completely different nowadays due to the big floods. Really miss "proper" barbel fishing-having to make do with "carbelling" on the Trent nowadays

    • @bobrobertsangling8208
      @bobrobertsangling8208 8 дней назад

      Anglers really need to grasp how rapidly things change in angling. Never take what you have for granted. The Dove being a prime example. Smaller the river, faster the change.

    Barbel on the float is a passion of mine, but I think for the purest experience you must use a centrepin reel. That being said, I'd never even considered fishing for them on the Tidal Trent this way - the river I fish is substantially smaller and shallower.

    Great video Bob. My type of Trent fishing now and I have rarely legered in the last three seasons. I have not yet ventured to the tidal though. Looking forward to picking up a copy of your book on 6th November at the Newark Showground. Is there a reason you use all shot rather than olivettes?

    • @johnnewman2046
      @johnnewman2046 15 дней назад

      @richardburns1287 there are plenty of "on line" olivettes available now or just use float stops on the line and adjust either as necessary. Big avons or bolos for bottom feeding fish is not really stick float fishing for which I would use shot to adjust presentation and sink rate.
