I was so obsessed with them as a teenager. I could tell your their names, birthdays and birthplaces at 13 yrs old but couldn't tell you what 9×8 equaled 😅. My mom won tickets and let me skip school for my first Aerosmith concert but it was on 9/11/2001 in Va Beach so it was ofcoarse cancelled. It was rescheduled for a few weeks later and just by pure luck the band walked by and my mom hoisted me halfway over the fence. Steven Tyler grabbed my hand, kissed it and called me darlin' 😂. One of the best days of my teenage life.
I loved this song when I was a kid! It would play on the radio at the same time every morning on the way to school. I still like the song quite a bit but it does not have the same effect today. Sometimes If I don't hear it for a long time it takes me back in time though, kind of happened pretty recently. The song just sounded great and made me feel that time period again, but the more you hear it I suppose, yeah it's one of those songs. I love Aerosmith outside of this track too, I'll never hate this song, also I have never seen Armageddon either.
It often surprises me considering how enduring Aerosmith has been... they only had one #1 hit, and it was not written by them... but I seem to recall "Jaded' By Aerosmith was also HUGE and way way overplayed not long after that #1 hit.
This song is a perfect example of a radio-friendly unit shifter. Aerosmith's second wind is one of the all-time great comeback stories. Hollywood has a long history of releasing pairs of movies with very similar themes.

Also I’m quite impressed with linkin parks new singer Emily Armstrong. Don’t care about her politics but she is definitely worthy. I’m happy they are able to make a resurgence the band looks so happy and I’m sure Chester is as well. Keep rocking RRTS
I love Aerosmith but "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" is the only song of theirs that I didn't like. Yes, Aerosmith made ballads like "Dream On", "Angel" and a few others but at least those songs had strength. "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" felt as powerful as a boring Peter Cetera/David Foster-type song. One question that I'd like to ask is: Do Aerosmith fans loved "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing"?
Yeah I remember those movies coming out and the controversy of aerosmiths song and his daughter starting in the movie... It was so sad that big movie companies were so unorigin that they would copy eachother! Constantly making the same movies coming out at the same time. Now they kind of got away from that when they discovered that they can make just as much money by Re-making the same movies over and over and no matter how poorly they remade them, they know they will still sell. I hate hollywood.
What does this mean? Do they as a band adopt a lot of junior high school girls? If you’re trying to say that they’re into young girls, that’s like the worst way to word it but I can’t even tell if that’s what you meant or not. I don’t get it… stay in school, kid.
Aerosmith rocked the 70's, rocked less in the 80's (although I do like Permanent Vacation) and then fell into being a chick band making pop music that I've never liked. I never understood why people thought their 90's music was any good, I thought it was awful.
You have to put it in perspective. Kids my age growing up in the late '80s, early '90s didn't know anything of the Aerosmith that made Rocks or TITA. Maybe you heard songs like Janie's Got a Gun, Sweet Emotion, and Walk This Way w/ RUN DMC when you were a kid but you really weren't paying attention at that point. But by the '90s music dominated your life and MTV was always on your TV. Those videos from Get a Grip were huge, they were high budget, entertaining, and connected with kids as much, if not more than the music. What kid didn't fall in love with Alicia Silverstone? She was as much, if not more, responsible for the success of Get a Grip as the band was. Now people look back and think of those songs fondly remembering the videos and the time and feeling nostalgic. I can distinctly remember having heard Dream On as a kid but didn't know it was Aerosmith at first and I can remember thinking they must have had a different singer back then because it sounded nothing like Steven Tyler.
Armageddon is one of the worst movies of the 90s, and its success set a precedent the plagued Hollywood for a couple decades. Deep impact was actually decent and thoughtful film. Armageddon was Michael Bay barf

Their only #1 hit is also my very least liked song from that group. I wouldn't turn off any of their other songs on the radio, but this one was an easy click-off.

ROCKS and Get Your Wings were their best offerings in my opinion. Will love them forever! ❤🎶 Got backstage with them probably 6 times from maybe '86 forward. They treat their fans awesome! The "bad boys from Boston" are the soundtrack of my life!
Newsflash: Aerosmith doesn't write any of their music since the 80s. They were good from 73-76 and absolutley suck after. They're great in concert but would be just as good if they disbanded in 1976, better to burn out than fade away
@LeviathantheMighty I don't understand this comment. Yes, alcohol is a drug, but what are you saying is a lie? The term "drugs and alcohol" is generally referring to illegal drugs and alcohol. Alcohol, though still a drug, is legal. Saying "drugs and alcohol" is just using a shortened phrase.
@ChrisEck13 Saying "drugs and alcohol" means that alcohol is not a drug, but it is. Just because alcohol is taxed and legal doesn't mean it's not a drug. You can't say, "I like to steal cars, but at least I ain't a criminal. " because gta is a crime. There are harder and softer drugs, alcohol is 100% a drug. He could have said alcohol and other drugs, or alcohol and cocaine.
@LeviathantheMighty saying "drugs and alcohol" is in no wayying that alcohol is not a drug. I explained it to you, it's just a shortened way of saying "illegal drugs and alcohol". Everyone knows alcohol is a drug. But, like it or not, it's a legal drug and there is a difference between things that are legal and things that aren't. You may not care that it's legal but it's still a fact.

Aerosmith has so many great songs that should've been #1 hits. It sucks that their only #1 wasn't their song. And real Aerosmith fans can hear it. It's good. But it's not Aerosmith.
Indeed. Songs like Dream On, Sweet Emotion, Back In The Saddle, Love In An Elevator, Janie’s Got A Gun, Livin’ On The Edge, etc… all could’ve been #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and I’m surprised they weren’t.
