- In Today's video I will be showing you how I waterbath can blackberry spread, which is jam without a ton of seeds. A food strainer makes it super easy!! We'll also bake from the OLD Betty Crocker cookbook (I think mine has a copyright in the 50's), we do some grocery shopping for a fun little trip we have planned and slowcook a wonderful venison roast with a lot of butter. Come along for a canning tutorial or just for a peek into a couple of days with me and my family as we live a country life.

Betty Crocker Blackberry Cobbler www.bettycrock... this is the basic recipe I used from the old cookbook. For blackberries use 3 cups and 3/4 c. sugar, otherwise the rest of the recipe is the same. It was very good, but definitely SEEDY. We liked it once and would like it again if I strained out a lot of the seeds.

The Blackberries Are Ripe | Can & Bake With a Country Homemaker - Хобби
Women's Gymnasticsis my favorite..and I love how Peter is comfortable in whatever he does from hunting to cooking he's so confident.
I love how Peter really knows how to do so much in the house with you and out with dad ! He is definitely working on being an amazing dad/husband at some stage in his life ! 😊they are all growing up so fast
I was just thinking about how Peter will be grown up before mom knows it. He is such a good helper and a great kid.
Your Joe is such a darling and we love him so much xxxx
My favorite is gymnastics, and diving!!! Also, I’d like to let you know that for years I’ve been terrified to can. But after watching a couple videos where you’re canning, and listening to your gentle encouragement I canned strawberry jam! Thank you!!
For Peter: I was really sick this whole summer so no garden and no Olympics. I am looking forward to the next summer Olympics when cricket will be one of the sports. I love cricket and I'm excited that it will be a part of the conpetitions.
Wild blackberries are smaller but I think they have a better flavor. And I am glad you have such a great helper in Peter. He is definitely growing up to be a wonderful man.
Yes he is!
Swimming, Gymnastics and this year women’s long jump. Would watch a lot more if on regular tv.
I love your nails! And, I love ALL your videos! Gymnastics and swimming!
Peter, my favorite has always been the women’s gymnastics.
I love that y’all do canning projects. It’s great knowledge to have, and sweet to see you working together.
Loved how Peter asked questions as you were cooking together!
When Joe said "Ask Warren!" 😂😂
Joe always makes me smile 😍 he’s a typical teenager that’s not happy about having to do household chores 😂. Peter is learning so many great kitchen skills….that’s awesome !! To answer Peter’s question….my favourite summer Olympics sport to watch is the swimming, diving & I also enjoy the gymnastics 😊
Peter, My favorite is the swimming. Peter you sure do have many skill in the kitchen. Its a joy to watch.
Peter, I love whatever sport the U.S. medals in, but what I really love is how encouraging and supportive all the olympians from all the different countries are to each other. Great job helping your mother, watching you I wonder if you ever thought about becoming a chef?
He has mentioned it especially with wild meat like duck, goose and fish.
Peter is such a good helper.
I love the women's swimming. Peter did so good helping. He should be proud of himself.
My mom always made blackberry dumplings. Everyone loved them! I was never a fan of jam and jelly, or sweets. I always made them for everyone. My sister lives in CA and has blackberries the size of a man’s big toe in her garden. She sends me a pint every year for Robert and it lasts him a year.
If you have any idea of how your mom made the blackberry dumplings, I would absolutely love to hear it! That sounds so good, and I have blackberries in my freezer from my MIL’s property that are just begging to be used
@@kiraward9924 Mom always made rolled out dumplings like chicken n dumplings. The berry sauce looked much the same as Jennifer’s did after adding a cup of whole berries. I’m not sure how much sugar but not as sweet as jam! The dumplings puff up while cooking. It’s been a long time. I’m almost 65. lol
I grew up eating them also. My mom would stew down the blackberries with sugar and I think a little water. Cook it down to make a sauce type consistency. Then drop in your rolled out dumplings like you’d use for chicken n dumplings. I think she put the lid on for a little bit to cook the dumplings, but not the whole time. Id try it. I think the sugar is to taste, but she used a good amount because the dumplings aren’t sweet and soak it up. Delicious with vanilla ice cream. 😊
Yes, I totally agree . Our Walmart is crazy. That jam looks delicious 😋
I've only watched clips, but my favs are the artistic swimming and rhythmic gymnastics .
Jennifer, if you don’t mind my suggestion for grease splatter on clothes, I use plain old fashioned Goop! Just rub it on the grease stain and wash as usual. Works like a charm! Love watching you and the family!
Great tip! Thank you.
Men’s basketball was my favorite.
Those pickle cashews are mine and my husbands favorite snack! Also, dawn dish detergent is a great grease pre treater before washing. ❤
We were disgusted with the opening ceremonies. But our granddaughter's college volleyball coach is an assistant coach for the women's team. So we have watched a couple of their matches. They play for gold so we will watch that too. The talent of the athletes is phenomenal.
I’m so glad I didn’t see the opening ceremony, although I’ve heard plenty about it. I still watched now and then because it wasn’t the athletes fault and they worked hard and I wanted to enjoy the competition.
Didn’t watch it but the guy who directed it said it as not meant to resemble the last supper. If that is how people interpreted it that’s on 5hem
Hey Peter, I love all equestrian related but also the gymnastics. You are such a blessing to your family young man! Your parents have done a great job with you and your siblings. Sending you hugs from a mum of four, from the UK 🇬🇧
Thank you so much! You're so kind to leave this sweet compliment.
I agree sure jell needs to include instructions. I had to google it too ❤️
Hi Jennifer. I enjoyed your latest newsletter I found in my email today. The story about Tots and Maria's upcoming birthday ideas took me back in time. Your blackberry jam (spread) looked so pretty in their jars. Isn't it amazing when the job is done and you can sit back and stare at those beautiful jars of lushishness and know your family will love?
I remember picking berries with my granny.. and spending all afternoon making beautiful delicious hand pies.. ❤❤❤ gosh i miss her
Lovely memory❤️
Jennifer thank you for sharing your vlog much appreciated by us all xxxx ❤️
Jennifer blackberries
Easy to use Jennifer
If you collect a lot
Remember blackberries jam and blackberries chutney
Typically, we enjoy gymnastics & table tennis. Glad you & Warren (aka Dad lol) are able to take small get-a-ways. They are great for de-stressing.
Btw love that Joe is already thinking about and planning his birthday gifts :-)
It was a nice getaway and Joe let’s me know every day that soon it’ll be his birthday.
Hi Jennifer and sweet family! When I was a kid my grandmother had a huge blackberry patch behind her house in the cow pasture. She would get all the grandchildren and we picked blackberries, but before we could pick any she had a walking stick and would go around the bottom of the blackberries to make sure no snakes were around then we picked.
Now I have a huge blackberry patch and you can’t beat fresh blackberries.
Yum, your blackberry spread looks so delicious.
Peter is such a huge help in the kitchen, always eager to help.
Happy early Birthday Joe, hope you get everything your heart desires for your birthday.
I hope you both had a wonderful getaway and the children had a fun time.
I hope everyone has a very blessed weekend!
Good grandma, because once a snake is spotted unexpectedly I bet the kids would be outta there.
What a great question? Track and swimming are some of my favorite Olympic sports to watch.
Remember picking raspberries and any other kind of fruit
Joe "ask Warren" lol what a cutie 🥰
I have watch the Olympics a lot the last two weeks and have enjoyed so much. Gymnastics, Volleyball, soccer, men’s Basketball, Track, everything has been great. I have even watched some of the Break Dancing and Skateboarding and enjoyed them. I have loved everything except of the opening ceremonies. I hope the closing ceremonies goes better.
I like all of the Olympics. But if I have to pick one it would be gymnastics. It is amazing to watch. Thanks for asking Peter.
Like mexican coke, those cookies usually have 100% sugar and NO high fructose corn syrup. MUCH better for you and taste WAY better.
Peter, I love the incredible gymnastics in part because they are beautiful and also because it's so thrilling to wonder whether they will miss the treacherous maneuver or make just one more impossible spin in the air and be victorious. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Ps You have a natural ability in the kitchen and the outdoors. You're a good kid.😊
Thank you. -Peter
I love watching the gymnastics.
Dawn dishwashing liquid is the best thing to get rid of grease stains.
Dawn powerwash is the best on oil stains and you don’t need another product in the home! 😊
Good to know!
Amazing video ❤
Thank you!!
Hey Peter 👋🏼👋🏼Breakdancing has been the funniest Olympic activity!
Oh my, we’ll have to look that one up as we haven’t seen it at all.
Hi Peter i love diving
😂😂😂 Joe "i dunno ask Warren!" 😂😂😂❤❤❤
Hi Peter, my favorite Olympic sport to watch is women’s gymnastics & all swimming. Equestrian jumping is probably my third choice.
My daughter loves the Totino’s pepperoni pizza.
The kids said they were really good.
Peter my fav is the high dive. We took a family trip to Paris early this year. I'm enjoying the views of the city again. I enjoy your videos and agree with the way you and your husband raise your children.
Peter, my favourite olympic sport to watch is swimming. Next would be track and field. Great job on the jam!
My favorite Olympic sport is women’s gymnastics and track and field but I love it all!!!
Jennifer, I know this video is dedicated to blackberries but I have to tell you we absolutely love your dill pickle recipe! I love you can make one jar at a time and it’s not so salty. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks for sharing your experience with me. It was my grandma's recipe and I've always loved it, too.
My favorite events were the gymnastics competitions.
Blackberries are an invasive species where I live in Western Washington state. No shortage! Love your channel!
Oh wow!
I recently made raspberry jam, you can't beat the flavor of homemade!❤
Your wild blackberries are smaller and the bushes are much different looking than ours. Must be a different variety. Your jars of blackberries look delicious🥰
Try dawn dish soap on grease, it works
Jennifer thank you for sharing your vlogs much appreciated by us all
If one can ask?
Do you have any other fruits on your property
Hi Carol, we have good producing apple trees and a cherry tree that's never given us a cherry. Ants always attack it.
@acountrylife
Hello Jennifer thank you for your reply
I have an interesting recipe for you
If you and your family were hosting a party of of some sort
It's called a country life woodland floor dessert
Remember to think out of the box
Your family and you
Are walking through the woods at your property
Wild berries, pears etc
You hear twigs being stood on and they crack
White chocolate ganache
Milk chocolate ganach
Dark chocolate ganach
Design a dessert dish
Remember the Cranberries
You can use the chocolate as mud
Etc
Chocolate twigs
Wild berries
Redcurrants etc
You can make jellied leaves
Make it a family task and educational
What do you think Jennifer?
You are awesome!!! ❤
You're the best! 🫶
Please 🙏🏻 People if you have nothing nice to say please don’t say anything all 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I LOVE blackberries and just picked a ton last weekend. They are safely stashed in my freezer until I’m ready. New friend & Sub here, can’t wait to join you in the Soup Collab next month! 💜
Welcome and see you soon. September isn’t that far off.
@@acountrylife 💜
Love blueberry cobbler blackberry and jam
Gymnastics and swimming are my favorites but I enjoy watching most sports in the Olympics.
My Grams had 10 acres and a lot of it was wild black berries... they are small but are packed full of flavor.. our store black berries are flavorless but they are larger alright... i like wild ones with the seeds!! Yummy!!
Awesome deal on the iced sugar cookies. I had to do a double take on the price! The girls love them, me not so much, but I have spent $6 on that package size.
I’m not a fan of those either, but for $0.78 I’ll buy them for the kids who like them.
Hi Peter, I really enjoyed watching the kayak races!
We liked those too and the rowing.
Diving, swimming, and both gymnastics! Table Tennis is entertaining also. But we did not get to see it because it was not on any tv channel we get.
Some sports that weren't aired on our channels we looked up on RUclips.
In the Olympics I love the gymnastics the best, Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and Hezley Rivera are all amazing. Definitely the best team in the world! Anything that has to do with NZ, especially in the rising, kayaking, sailing and cycling! We rule!! Watching the athletics is amazing too.
Thanks for sharing!!
Swimming 🏊♀️! And volleyball! 😊
In our area, the wild berries were called, "dewberries".
Supper looked amazing!!
Thank you!!
Hi Jennifer. Blackberry jam--yum! Wishing you and Warren a good time away. Hugs.
Thank you so much!
Ive never bought blackberries in a store. Mine have always been wild.😄
Oops. Gymnastics and diving are my top 2. But I enjoy most track and field. If I here a good story about a person I will definitely watch whatever they do ❤
Peter made me anxious while he was stirring 😮❤
I know; me too.
@@acountrylife 😅🤣😂
Great video,Jennifer! ❤❤❤
gymnastics,and swimming xx
I love to watch gymnastics and track.
My favorite part of blackberries is the seeds!
🤦♀️
Tip for walmart, if you have the app type in what you're looking for and pick the one you want and it will show you which isle it is in. Gives the number and map of the store .
I just learned that from an employee this last time I was there.
Nice hat Peter!!
You really should check the dates on precut lunch meat, sometimes they've been in the bunker 4 or 5 days.
I myself am willing to wait in line to get deli items cut fresh so they last longer once you're home
I have a question off the subject of today. I am having shoulder surgery Thurs and have chicken pot pie filling made. How can I make up two of them in the pie shells and freeze raw without the bottom crust getting mushy. Or can I? Thanks so very much. Thank you too Jennifer for sharing your beautiful family and your experiences with us. God's blessings........🥰🥰🥰
The bottom crust of frozen pies are sometimes pretty soft. You can always keep it in the oven longer and cover the top with foil so it doesn’t get too brown. Good luck with the surgery. I pray the surgeon is skilled and that recovery is quick.
I agree about surejell. It is such a hassle to find the rwcipe
Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it. A couple of tips, if you cook the blackberries first, you will get more juice out of them. Also, try the Sure Jell For Lower Sugar Recipes. It sounds like it wouldn’t be as good because it calls for so much less sugar, but it actually is much better because you can taste the fruit more, but it’s still sweet. I also use the freezer jam recipe, it tastes so much fresher. It isn’t shelf stable, though, so that’s a consideration.
Thanks for the tips!
Favorite sports..volleyball, track...
We had blackberries grow wild behind the home I grew up in one year we got 13 gallons of blackberries we froze most of them so we could bake all winter long
Wow!! That's a ton of blackberries.
When did Sure Jell stop including the instruction insert? I always keep one in my recipe file, but only because I wanted a quick reference for the amount of fruit needed for a batch of jam or jelly. Guess I better hang on to it!
I wish I had kept one.
jenn thats why i use pamonas universal pectin because sure jell has changed their pectin and they dont put the info sheet
Supper looks great, can I come over. It would take awhile I live in Maine.
In Texas we call those dewberries. They make fabulous jelly! Our WM is under construction. Argh!
❤❤❤
Track,swimming
Our Wal-Mart is the same. I have not gone in over a monrh because of it, only hace done pick-up so thet can shop the craziness of the store remodeling.
Gymnastics!✅💕
You might give your jam jars a second check. Peter was wiping the rims with a jam-sticky towel and I don't think it left the rims very clean, not to mention he was tilting some the jars as he looked at them. Best wishes.
They all sealed properly.
I remember picking tons of wild blackberries on my late husband's and my farm. I made blackberry jam and cobbler. Nothing better!
Totinos pizza. Good, but just dont compare it to a pizza. And if youve never had them you may hate them. I think its nostalgic for people who ate them in college or newly married.
I had Totino’s as a teen. My mom would get them when I had friends over so I had to introduce my kids to them.
Our favourite is the athletics
Walmart: I open up the app and search up what I'm looking for and it tells me what isle it's on and even shows it on a map. I use the app for my shopping list too, just add things to my cart during the week. Then when I'm at the store I bring up the apps shopping cart for my list. Sometimes in the cart it won't show the isle unless I'm logged into their wifi 🤷♀️
I just did that last time in Walmart and it worked like a charm.
Tostitos pizzas are pretty good
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Not sure if it will help in a new store remodel; howevern when i cant find something, i open my walmart app and it will show me where to find it in my store.
