You've also said that the team's name had "racial undertones" which is non-sense. The only people who are/were offended by the name are woke liberal white Democrats. A Washington Post poll of, I think it was 2014, indicated that 90 percent of Native Americans were NOT offended by the name. Liberals have since attempted to re-write history, as they always do, to make their fantasy the official history. The name Redskins itself is the name native Americans gave THEMSELVES. I grew up going to RFK only for soccer games. It wasn’t until I was older that I found out it was initially for the Redskins let alone for the olympics. It was a great stadium and I know for a fact that it would be a success now a days if it weren’t for the fact that it was in the ghetto part of the city. No one would metro there, meaning you had to drive there. And in those days before 295 went all the way across the Anacostia, the traffic was ridiculous, especially since most games were held during the week at rush hour times. And parking prices were wild. Overall, the location is what killed RFK.

All pro sports owners should have to pay for any stadiums, so they won't leave like they do. Taxpayers should not be stuck with the bill and teams move to another city, state.
I went to/worked at a lot of concerts there. The pictures from the Tibet Freedom concert brought me back, some girl got hit by lighting on one of the days. The last event I was there for was working at the 911 concert, that was thrown together so quickly after the attack, it was a very long day.

Only time I venture down there on purpose is to check out the Sunday farmers market and to compete in the occasional crit lol that said, I do think the city entertained plans recently to bring the WFT back to DC
The IMSA race in 2000 was the only motor race of the 21st century held in D.C. And although it only ran once, the track layout is still clearly visible from above.

In the early 1900s, baseball, cricket, and soccer were major sports watched by more people in person than attend any sporting event now. Those are the only 3 I know of that meet that criteria, but I'm sure there are others. Sports were a big deal back then, it's ahistorical to pretend otherwise.
I stopped watching the video after that comment, so the rest of it might be very good, but that's such an obviously ignorant statement that I would go back and correct it.
I was at the last game at RFK. I was one of the people that rushed the field and took our seats and pieces of the grass. I was a Senior in High School. I miss that Stadium. A piece of the Sk(Football Team almost slipped) died when we left that stadium. It was one of the TOUGHEST places to play in. the bleachers literally moved and rattled like they were gonna collapse the whole game. Ask ANY Cowboy player throught the Triplets era (Aikman himself will say that). Also grew up going to the annual O's game in RFK. Saw a bus crash into old Saab right at the Subway entrance in 92' (you will never forget seeing crazy accidents like that, bus ran a red light like and idiot)
I WAS a die-hard Redskins fan. Never got to see a game at RFK, once stood in the parking lot with cash in hand begging for someone to sell me a ticket at almost any cost.. Finally got inside to see a Nats game in 06'. Given the way things have gone, the artists formerly known as The Skins should have just moved to another city and changed their name when they left RFK... oh wait.
Very good place for Baseball. even though multipurpose the upper deck is close to the field. Sight lines good all over. Cozy & comfortable. have not made it to Nationals field yet.
The landscape is going to be different when they tear the stadium down. Unfortunately, I only relocated to the DC area in late 2019 from southern California so it feels good reading all the comments from people with treasured memories of RFK
Noteworthy in S Cal, stadiums seem to go on forever. The Coliseum, Dodger stadium, Rose Bowl, the Big A. With the exception of San Diego tearing down Qual com .
This lost me when it stated mentioning sport and the US in the same sentence. At best the US indulged in pastimes that could provide a distraction between the advert main events. Now it's been the instrumental at almost destroying sport completely.
I went to several baseball games there and I remember it was very outdated and the seats were made of wood which got very uncomfortable as the game went on and if it went into extra innings then you better get a seat cushion. And it was almost impossible for anyone to get a home run there.
Impossible to get a home run there? Frank Howard had 20 by the end of May in 1968. There were painted seats way up behind centerfield marking balls he had hit there.
I grew up down the street from RFK wayyy too many memories in that building to even discuss right now but mannn when I tell u it was special please believe me
Since the land is federally owned, you can bet that anything major that will be done on that site will take at least 10-15 years to come to fruition! If the WFT is planning to move to a new stadium here in 2027, they're already too late!!

Raised as a Redskin fan as a kid. Thanks to my father. Changed teams over the years, and been a Seahawk fan for over 35 years. (Kingdome, hint hint..LOL) ...Will absolutely admit watching Redskin games in the 80's with my late father, nothing like it. That stadium was such a great one. Great vid!!
I was also raised as a Redskins fan since I was born in Virginia and a lot of my family was from there but I was born in 1985 so I can just barely remember their last Superbowl victory. 1999 was the last season where I felt really proud of the team and my new one became the Titans since I grew up south of Nashville.
@@stephenbrand5661 I know my father would have been upset with the way his Redskins turned out. Jack Kent Cooke ran the team with class, honor and respect. Not so much now, but a great win for them yesterday!!
How can you change teams. Born a Bolton wanderers FC fan, you and ill die one thanks
A much better FB stadium than Fed Ex Field, that's for sure.
you can't be serious, its a dump
Is that even fair? Both are terrible stadiums. One due to age, the other never being any good.
RFK it prime much better than FedEx in it's prime.
@@bob80q I think that RFK is just run down, but if it were to have been renovated it would have been Superior to FedEx Field. FedEx Field is just plain badly designed
@@nothanksguy thats pure fantasy, with multi-purpose stadiums you cannot have the best sightlines for both sports, RFK is also too small to allow for adding a club level, restaurants and luxury suites not to mention its seating capacity is way too small. Completely inadequate for a modern stadium.
Did he really just pronounce Potomac as Pot-o-mack!!?? 😂😂
Yep. And he mispronounced L'Enfant as well.
@@sarahgunther9150 I know for a fact I looked that one up. Other than not having a french accent and being 200% American what else can I do.
Who cares?
The last time I went to RFK was July 4th, 2015 for the Foo & friends show. Little did I know that would be the last concert there. Time to blow it up real good!
Potomac is pronounced “PA-TOE-MICK”.
Nope; POTO-MAC. Lol!
That made me cringe bad
Puh-toh-muhk.
Pronounced however the fuck you want to pronounce it. Nazi.
Not true look at nats park as an example. It was old and teams sucked in its final years
I watched the Michael Jackson video, and I looked at your channel to see what was all on here. It looks like you've totally retooled it from 9 years ago. It looks like you might've hit a winner with this format! Keep it up, and I wish you massive success! BTW, did Quinny ever get free from his kidnappers LoL?
He has since moved away so he did. Reis graduates high school in May.
I like your Videos because you go through the Stadiums History which I thinks is cool so keep up the good work
All pro sports owners should have to pay for any stadiums, so they won't leave like they do.
It has not been abandoned. It is used regularly by the homeless. drug dealers and prostitutes. It is still a fine representation of Washington DC.
Baltimore and Washington are brother cities in Maryland
I saw one there once
@@edlutz7218 My dad got season tickets 1n the mid 60s through his office at the pentagon. And sold them in1986 when he retired. We were able to attend every game during what I will call the Redskins Glory years.
The beat at the start of the video was straight 🔥🔥
Wow you even found a way to shit on the last 70 years of lions football.
So far the Detroit Lions have been mentioned in 2/3 episodes. You'll keep count going forward right?
I’ve only seen this episode and the neverland ranch episode. So it must’ve been the Izod episode. But you can bet your ass I’ll be counting.
The Detroit Lions, rebuilding since 1957.
I saw the Rolling Stones and the Who back there in 1989 .
I worked construction in DC and knew and worked with many who worked on the 'RFK' stadium. In fact I worked with the man who was the lead man on the project. He told us how difficult it was to get all those cement curves correctly laid out and built.
How’d I know a clip of mine would be in this video 😂
in 2022, there was a fire in RFK Stadium, and in 2023 is the time
Im shocked

I cannot unsee the Walgreens logo.
I find it highly disrespectful that they are going to destroy a memorial
I saw Jerry Garcia play a couple of tunes with Sting as an opener to a Dead show there. That was one of my unforgettable moments in life. EDIT* - the date was June 26, 1993. That was a HOT show. Not temperature, but jammin'. Bruce Hornsby was sitting in on keyboards for the show.
Yep! Great Show! ✌️
Great film mate, enjoyed that.
what happened clearly is these people fucked up my childhood experiences and left people that used to go there when skins was WINNING superbowls and games to have just stories to tell. i actually miss the stadium holmes . moms used to have season passes to that joint . thanks for highlighting rfk and how they just left it to go to shit .
Great work man. Keep it up.
I saw the Stones there in 1994... I swear there was noooo rules in that parking lot, no security or cops in sight, and therefore... uhh yeah, I'll stop there.
The Philadelphia stadium pictured is Franklin Field on UPenn campus, not the former JFK Stadium, which was torn down and where now stands the Wells Fargo Center.
Great video and info there! :-) I actually saw Michael Jackson and his brothers, MC Hammer, Digital Underground when Tupac was a background dancer, and Babyface there! I'll miss it!
The stadium also hosted two US women’s teams matches (1999 quarterfinals v.s Germany, 2003 group stage North Korea) and probably others.
The 1999 quarterfinal was at FedEx Field.
My Brother in Law was living there and was a sports fan there for many year's and visited a lot of those sites.
I’m from Albany, GA it was once called the good life city. It had many factories like Cooper Tires, Bobs Candy, Miller Brewing, P&G etc. Most of which are now abandoned due to companies opting for cheaper labor. Might be a source of content. Maybe not lol
Yep! I was at that Jackson Victory Tour at RFK stadium! September 24, 1984! My first concert ever!
Jealous.
I heard Michael s dad would bend down and suck their pipes if they had a sold out show
I live less than a mile away from RFK -- bike past it all the time. You know it's there and remember why it's there but it's kinda just faded into the background. Only time I venture down there on purpose is to check out the Sunday farmers market and to compete in the occasional crit lol that said, I do think the city entertained plans recently to bring the WFT back to DC
I’m loving these videos.
The IMSA race in 2000 was the only motor race of the 21st century held in D.C. And although it only ran once, the track layout is still clearly visible from above.
They also held a grand prix race right outside the stadium using a temporary Track
It was an American LeMans series race. Shame it didn't continue.
Saw The Stones there in 1972, supporting their Exile release. Stevie Wonder opened for them.
Nice👍
As a DC native and Washington fan I wish we could really go back to RFK stadium
And get rid of “Commanders”! Is that the best they could come up with?
@@Jleed989 HAIL TO THE REDSKINS !
“Puh-toe-mick.” Great video!
RFK hosted three MLS Cup finals, including the 1997 match won by D.C. United.
And? NOBODY cares about the MLS
@@BAKER22-l4u 😂 is it that easy to dismiss me and other fans who fill stadiums
@@BAKER22-l4u although it may not be your thing it is most certainly A thing.
Also all of the US National Team games over the years... Mens and Women's.
my brother and i drove down from philly to go to the Chocolate Jam all day concert at RFK Funkeldic was the headliner with Bootsy, Raydio,Mothers Finest, Rick James, and i cant remember the other groups.... i do remember the fireworks in the afternoon heat and humidity of a DC summer. cherry bombs being thrown off the top deck and the noise was deafening.. that was 1970s fun, today the bomb squad would be called in. lol..
never sure why for the last 20 years the top red and yellow seats werent used
As a resident of D.C. , Potomac is pronounced (Poe-Toe-Mack). Like the Potomac River. Great video though!
Lmao no, no it’s not.

@T Raybern You’re basing this on what?
I went to Nats games during the dying days of the stadium as a kid. Nats Park is dope; but I miss RFK.
Racoons became the unofficial mascot of DC United when they played at RFK because it was full of them
It should be a contemporary amphitheater, or a giant modern walk thru garden like in the movies or even a huge outdoor movie theater.
I went to a Promise Keepers conference at RFK Stadium
How about an episode on Texas Stadium
Taxpayer money shouldn’t be used for sports.
Proverbs 22:16, KJV.
@@davidlafleche1142 Totally agree.
This lost me when it stated mentioning sport and the US in the same sentence.
At best the US indulged in pastimes that could provide a distraction between the advert main events.
Now it's been the instrumental at almost destroying sport completely.
Just remember John Riggins blowing off guard and off tackle in short yardage situations and the mention as him as , the diesel.
Washington DC has been unsuccessful in getting the Olympics to come to the city.
