Outstanding documentary with ample information, just looking at these amazing creatures fills one with thoughts of strength combined with gentleness for such large animals. There is a mystic feature that surrounds them. They are amazing animals, and it is so sad that some people destroy them purely for monetary gain, what a waste. May we be lucky enough to see elephants in the wild for eons to come. Thank you.

Some elephants abandon their calves. The Reteti sanctuary in Kenya takes in the abandoned calves, rehabs them then releases them back into the wild. Good thing there are PEOPLE doing that, eh? Also, elephant bulls gore and sometimes even kill each other over mating. Should humans do THAT, too? Zebra males actually KILL the babies that aren't theirs. I guess we could do that, since we already kill them BEFORE they're born. Male lions also kill cubs so that the female will mate with them . Yeah, we should be more like animals. 🙄

If you want a more detailed explanation of this phenomenon: it's because poachers are killing all of the ones with tusks for their ivory, so the elephants with the gene that makes them have no tusks are living longer to have more offspring.
This is actually kind of bad, because elephants use their tusks to get food, fight, defend themselves, dig, and knock down trees. 😞

Thank you. The information on what they have to sacrafice in not having tusks was needed very much. Poachers like all crime CAN BE STOPPED. Like all crime it comes down to a few things. The most obvious is money. Poaching is perhaps i believe 1/2 the problem of elephants dying at the hands of humans.Another huge reason wildlife has gone extinct or will be extinct is many countries around the world alllow humans to "legally" gun down a wild animal. We call it hunting and most hunters use words like culling and conservstion to rationale killing a living animal. The other is we have taken most of wildlifes land from them. I think they are regulated to less than a 3rd if earths land now, and even that we invade their land for touriasm, houses, schools etc.
