pin this comment or Barney Calhoun from Half-Life: Blue Shift will come to tickle your feet!!11!
I ain't lettin' Barney tickle my god damn feet
Galdamn!
what the hay hay?!?! Is that Barny Calhoun from Half-Life: Day One, Half-Life, Half-Life: Blue Shift, Half-Life: Decay, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar, Half-Life 2: Episode One and Half-Life 2: Episode Two, oh boy is today my lucky day! I don't even know what to say!!
uwu?
gordon feetman
The fact that they brought back Otis and regular guards are voiced by the same guy that voiced them in Black Mesa is amazing. I hope all of the staff that come with you will survive and escape with you
Kevin Sisk (The Guard’s Actor) also does basic modelling and texturing for the mod
The original Otis was also voiced by Mike who did Barney, gman, a black ops guy, and maybe others
Hmmm candy...
In the original Blue Shift, when going down to the generator, we find a guard and a scientist dead, and a few seconds later, another guard and scientist die
Even tho i'd also like for all of them to survive, it's highly unlikely
@@LNSO2006 To be fair, I heavily doubt that Murdoch & Otis will die, seeing how they're the comedic foils and killing off Otis is pretty poor taste. Rosenberg is obviously going to live, so that leaves Ronny (Who being a maintenance worker and an asshole, could die) and the female scientist.
My favorite line in blue shift was when barney said "it's shiftin time" and blued over everyone my favorite valve moment ever
I hate these kind Of comments
@@keraptus9816 the internet runs on memes. Meme equals like.
Sauling time
barney didn't said that, smartass
remember when Barney literally didn’t give us a beer? what a jerk.
I liked the original voice acting and new models. Really adds to the official feel.
On a side note, the first puzzle that you couldn't solve involving the cables CAN'T be solved normally because the final cable is INVISIBLE
i never found that to be the case, i thought the final cable was the one you disconnected outside the room
@@tornadogamah Only way i got past it was spamming E on the ground until i picked it up, devs said in one of the steam forums about the bullsquid in the room eating the damn cable
I never had a problem whit that cable.
from what I understand its only happen if you take your time getting to it.
like there is a source timmer on that cable after it spawns on map load before it becomes invinsible.
@@Arctic_Wolf1 The problem is with a cable that is inside the room, when i arrived it was already invisible
WAIT WHAT
Bro not only Black Mesa's , but also this thing's soundtrack absolutely SLAPS
I don’t care if it doesn’t sound like Kelly Bailey. If anything, it wouldn’t fit in most places of the game, especially Xen. Joel Nielsen did an amazing job!
@@daltonroller2998i thought you didnt like it in the first half, i cant distinguish between a good remark and a bad remark
Man i love when the shift is blue
In the beginning in the same area you get your armor and weapon, there is a surveillance room, on it you can see Gordon heading to put on his HEV suit, Gina Cross, preparing the sample, and more. Awesome detail that can easily be overlooked.
the same thing is in the the original blue shift too
I can't wait for Operation Black Mesa/Guard Duty to come out, then we'll have two different high quality Blue Shift remakes
I'm really looking forward to Tripmine's OP4 remake
i dont think they will cause now we have black mesa blue shift and maybe those guys who are making now this awesome remake could work with crobar collective to make opposing force that's why trimpine studios dont give us any information cause they are not working on it anymore
and also i prefer hecu collective and crowbar collective to work on opposing force and decay
@@abdobellah8998 they are very much working on it. Check their discord they're making updates daily
@@abdobellah8998 wdym? They're constantly showing stuff...
It's a nice mod, played it up to chapter 3 a couple months ago now, but I must say that I'm way more intrigued by tripmine studio's work
Tripmine studios operation black mesa is a new game, not a mod for black mesa so its probably going to be superior
I'm not. They have nothing to show for their work so far, and BM:BS is almost complete.
@Erebus 678 Is there a playable version of anything? Even a demo?
Think of this as an more classic way of blue shift. Like how blue shift is for hl1 but this for bms
I really like the OST of BMBS. The tram ride music and the music that plays in insecurity really gives a feeling of "I am a badass trained security guard at the BMRF, and it's just another badass day doing security stuff... but something is off"
I too have had my GPU/CPU spike when playing this, I think it just has to do with Black Mesa pushing really nice graphics out of such an old engine like Source.
Cant wait for when “when the force is opposing” to come out
its a shame you didnt figure out the puzzle, the rest of chapter 4 is a truly amazing experience
I think there was a light or something as a visual clue but it was realy hard to see.😅 I almost missed it also.
L
It's just incredible, after hours and hours and hours on black Mesa, it's like rediscovering the game from the first time.
leave me alone i am currently blue shifting
NOOOOOOO
😳
Since the first chapters came out I was waiting for the chapters to pile up so I have a good chunk to play. I think I'm ready to test it out and it's looking really REALLY good
After alyx a lot of good mods / HL related stuff came and community is still somehow alive damn amazing
6:38 the voice actors of the male scientists and barneys are the same ones from the original black mesa.
Shame you didn't get to the part where you meet Harold. Let's just say that the chapter "Captive Freight" goes to new heights. I did get stuck on the puzzles for a few moments but eventually figured them out.
And once more, we will wait a long time for a Xen chapter.
I like how Barney can reload more tactifully, yet Gordon kills more Marines.
Indeed it is. Looks very good, well optimized and expanded as far as I can see. I was meaning to play it for some time now, but now, it's probably the right time for it. I'm glad that BS did not have custom enemies and weapons so it can be done justice as a BM mod, quite a shame we're never getting the SDK.
a little mistake: operation black mesa and guard duty aren't mods for black mesa. they're making a new game from the ground up, using the source engine
They managed to make vortigaunts even more terrifying than normal, absolutely fantastic
Off topic to the video, but I say it because you mentioned the GTA V ost.
The GTA V ost is criminally underrated (no pun intended).
Also despite being a huge half life fan I never played the expansions somehow.
I think something I picked up on that really clued me into how much I enjoyed what’s here so far was that I was actively dreading the “To be continued…” popping up on the screen. I knew the mod wasn’t complete yet but i was just so immersed that I didn’t want it to end.
It’s a shame this team isn’t taking a crack at OpFor but I can’t say I really blame them for how much that entails. I just hope the Tripmine team really knock it out of the park. Of all these new source game remakes Operafion Black Mesa is the one I’m most interested in and hopeful for.
They are not doing op4 due to the absence of op4 weapons. Since they can’t make race x or any race x weapons. Meaning the only weapon they could make is the sniper and deagle. Also the BFG ripoff couldn’t be made either
But other than weapons and enemies it’s totally possible
@@Pacman009 I know. Blue Shift is an easy enough game to work on since the weapons and npcs are generally the same as in the original half-life so all you need to work on is the levels themselves. OpFor is a whole other can of worms considering the new weapons and npcs. It would take a hell of a long time to pull that all together and so I can see why they wouldn't want to do it.
Especially they spent the last decade working on Black Mesa itself (I think it's the same team, right?)
@@paleokaijushmoe5568 different team but there are like 2 BM devs working on it too
i love the fact that people are remaking the old half life games and they look so good . i would play blue shift now but cant because i got a throat infection
5:30 you just need to dive into the flooded underside panel in that sections, just keep going and dive until you find those holed up part of the corridors below. Theres an obvious glowsticks that shows you the way
going to admit took me a bit to find it and the problem is you sort of have one go at it, as you cant as far as I can tell surface for air.
so you need to swim there wack the planks untill they break dive under and swim as fast as possible.
that whole part feels really trial by death for me.
you fist dodge the first fan by going left (putting you at the middle or right side of the second corridor) then you need to quickly swim to the left side in the corridor so that the box will block/save you from the second fan.
all in one breath.
and you dont have a lot of room to react to.
Seeing Barney doing a tactical reload with the glock is kinda weird. Seems like Barney is a big fan of cod Modern Warfare (2019).
I had a bad day while working today when you posted this. I guess you could say I had a blue shift.
For the wire puzzle, you have to get the other wire from the other room and drag it all the way over there. Probably a remnant of the original game's level design not aging that well. Hopefully the devs improve on that somehow in a future update, but I felt really god-damn proud for figuring that out.
When the 6y/o threw the truck I think I heard a frying pan noise from Tf2
“Take a listen to it” [starbucks ad plays]
And here we can wait for some mfs to come and say "Ackchyually the the original is still better and HECU ruined the artist intention of Gearbox."
Great video btw.
we should get this with Opposing Force too
and maybe Decay? pretty please?
Decay remade in this branch of the Source engine would slap hard
@@RadiationHazardYT PSR Digital (Developers of 'Black Mesa: Hazard Course') do have their own "Decay: Source" project titled 'Peer Review' in the works. I haven't seen too much since their early concept build so they probably still have a long way to go, but 'Jupiter' has made up to 10 pieces of music for the project so far, with this one being a personal favourite of mine: ruclips.net/video/gZMDwo4mj_M/видео.html
"Take a listen:"
*Ad starts playing*
Hopefully Opposing Force remake will come soon as well
But when Green Shift? The protagonist would be Gus, and he drives forklift.
made my pc get hot and stayed at 20 fps, very good.
I've been waiting for Guard Duty, but I'll probably end up playing this when it's done
Black Mesa Blue Shift really is a mod developed by devs that really care as it shows. Everything from the moment the tram starts is just mesmerising and little attentions to detail (like seeing the Guard throw his arms in the air after missing said tram) is gold
Like with the wire and turbine section, those moment did stump me for a bit but other moments kept me engaged satisfyingly. I can't wait to see the Tramyard and old test lab segments.
Good luck to the devs working on this
A way to stop the GPU fans from going ham is to simply cap the FPS
Black mesa will go as hard as it can if you don't set up a limit
I prefer to cap mine at 30
@@KnoxCarbonhow do i set one?
@@AMBATUKAMceo Typically, you can do it in your GPU's control panel.
@@KnoxCarbon okay thank you
There's another studio remaking Opposing Force and Blue Shift. Hopefully you can review them once they come out.
I'm looking forward to those projects. The media updates they share are really good.
I actually stopped at the exact same place you did and had to watch a walkthrough. I hope you did continue though, the best part of the mod is after that!
Wow I had no idea there was another one, different from Guard Duty !
That`s insane
the guards and the scientist have the black mesa voice actors in the mod as for the hecu they have a different voice actor as well for the female scientist
Damn she wasn't lying
That shift really is blue
When the life is halved
When the force is opposing
When the mesa is black
When the freeman is hunted down
When the entropy is at zero
When the coast is lost
6:40 Thank you very much! :) I voiced Otis and the maintenance guy, and it's been a pleasure working on this project.
Really? No joke, Otis' voice acting is absolutely perfect in this. Guy's a total chad. Saves a woman from the marines. Carries a magnum. Large and in charge. Great character, great voice acting. Did a great job my man.
@@ScotterationRetard Thanks, I appreciate it :)
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE MOD'S COMPLETION.
It does feel like a Black Mesa DLC
Hopefully guard duty will be amazing
thank you crowbar collective for giving people assets to work with
Very Good Upload Rad
Wow. I just beat the normal game 3 hours ago. I just looked up ways to get the achievements and found this. Glad I can keep playing!
Agreed, the music is fantastic. Have been listening to the soundtrack preview releases ever since the Chapter 1 demo came out.
"It's me Gordon! Barney from Black Mesa!"
9/10, they didnt replace the crowbar with a nightstick
4:25-resonance cascade starts in Black Mesa.
When the Shift is Blue. You know its going to be a good game.
Barnin' time
Imagine just imagine Black Mesa: Opposing Force
kinda hoping they change the xen levels like in black mesa
I think Blue Shift Xen's level design holds up well enough that they could get away with just re-skinning it to resemble BM Xen aesthetically without changing the level design. Though given Chapter 3 and Chapter 4's drastic extensions, it's likely Chapter 5 will be similarly extended.
Lets go a radhaz commentary about blue shift black mesa, nice video btw.
1:46
Deadly anomalies, dangerous mutants...
When the shift is blue but you ate glue
The first thing i did when i saw this video pop up in my feed was going to steam,
Checking my wish-List, Check if Operation: Black Mesa could be bought.
But this is also pretty cool.
When light is moving away from me: Red Shift
When light is moving towards me:
Blue Shift 😈😈😈
Here's the ideal solution that would please everyone...
Tripwire remake Opposing Force only (Rename the game from Operation Black Mesa to simply Black Mesa: Opposing force to avoid confusion).
HECU stick with their remake of Blue Shift. Both companies work together, share their assets, and help each other make the best remakes possible of both expansions.
Wouldn't really work since both teams are doing something complete different.
HECU is making a mod for Black Mesa
Tripmine is making a game from scratch
Shouldn't you be guarding some doughnuts right about now?
Everyone should go try it out and support HECU Collective for their amazing work ! This mod kinda got me where I am on youtube (its not a lot). That one video of chapter 2 I made got me over 100k views which still makes no sense to me
My 2 favorite things about this video:
1. Blue shift
2.the music
Bro i like your accent.. It sounds like a refined Indian accent.
I do have a problem with Black Mesa-style music. It's not really the composition, but the tracks just don't fit the scenarios they are played in.
Black Mesa was neat. Blue Shift was special to me. What a time to be alive to get a nice, modern looking remake.
Better than the original for sure. Can't wait for the Focal Point chapter.
Im kinda hyped for this mod, will def play it
Finally, Half Life 1: Blue Shift: Source REMASTERED.
"Hey Catch me later i'll buy you a beer!"
When the blue has shifted! When the life is halved! When the gold has a source! When the hop is bunny! When the gordon is a free man!
6:05
THE DARK AND GRITTY
HELL YEAH OTIS IS BACK
"Black Mesa's Source Engine branch"
THIS IS IN SOURCE???!!
My fav thing abt this game is the ST. I LOVE it I lit want to buy BM cuz of it. Btw, a Kazakh doing a Joel Nielsen impression did it very good and made it atmospheric for BMBS
6:32 yes they brought back the original voice actors
6:07 He said it, boys!
they're also making Operation: Black Mesa. A remake of opposing force
"Hey over here" is an actual voiceline from Doom 3, and it is reused constantly to bait the player into traps.
we need Black Mesa opposing force
1:50 when that popped up, I thought the video was about to end lol
mesa
When the Barney is Calhoun
thanks dude i wanted to know about the opposing foce remake , the name kind of made it hard to find
tbh people dont know what the word remake means. so i agree with your opinion about the music.
6:06 He said the thing!
Black Mesa: Blue Shift, could be a paid thing after its fully finished, which will make it work better, and won't have issues easily.
Personally I toned down the graphical settings outside of mesh and texture detail to around medium/middle of the bar and Black Mesa still looked gorgeous. So I'd recommend it to everyone to try it for better performance.
2:38 I really dig this track, it would also fit perfectly in a Deus Ex game imo.
Its almost criminal that this mod is free, I Honestly felt really guilty at times
If this mod ever becomes payed dlc for black mesa, I wouldn't be against that because of how much quality the product has
I honestly got the same feeling you had with some of the puzzles…
I literally got stuck at the same places. (I guess they would rework some of theses to make them more understandable)
But otherwise all in all it was really a great experience !
Classic gaming moment is when you don't know where to go or what to do. I've been there too and I sometimes turn off the game because I don't want to bother watching RUclips walkthroughs haha.
Other than that, that mod looks pretty cool. Tripmine Studios has a long way to go to develop their games but thankfully other studios like HECU Collective did the job well.
I'm holding off until the mod is completely finished!
