I think what makes this song really special are not just David Coverdale’s incredible vocal abilities but also the monological, almost paranoid narrative of the lyrics, paired with that dynamic riff that shifts it a psychedelic, almost surreal atmosphere.
By far their best song they ever did. 2004 and sounds like he was still in 70’s and 80’s form. It wasn’t until around 2015 he lost his range. Simply amazing and one of the best singers ever. The things he did before deep purple , during deep purple, white snake, Coverdale and page , was legendary.
I could create an endless loop from 3:10 to 3:45 and listen to it all day long. Put it in background of a bad ass action hero movie, at the beginning intro or during a "kick bad guys' asses" moment, and this would play so nicely.
Uploading this in HD is a gift. One of the best concert in rock history, for sure. Playing the songs as good as the studio version or even better, absolutely huge

I still get chills hearing this song. I remember hearing and being blown away by Sykes and just the overall talent and production on the entire album. This lineup is killer here. David sounded incredible and after seeing him back in '97 w/Vandenberg and Farris on guitar this was a million times better. His voice was tired in '97 and in this clip he completely smashed it. It was lik being 17 all over again. Easily one of the timeless hard rocks songs of my generation. Anytime I play this with a band it never gets old. Ever.

I was born in 1960 and was rocking to it in my 1987 black GTA TRANS AM with T-top windows when the LP was released….ahhhh yessss the good ole days when you could buy brand new vinyl LP albums for around 4 bucks brand new. Single 45 size records around 2 bucks a piece. Bought that 1987 Pontiac Trans Am brand new off the lot for around 19 grand. Could buy a brand new GMC pickup truck in 1980 for 18 to 20 grand.
