What I love about that sound is it mimics the sound of a mass ejection of a high density plasma under heavy compression. So I like to think of it being the sound of their power plants discharging build up of plasma streams

id hate this "engine" sound to be a thing in the future, it's utterly peace breaking and disturbing, its really loud and it gives the sensation as if it was coming from something really big, my megalphobia is triggered by this, i can only imagine being on a cyberpunk city and listen to this... I love it.
