    I made a pumpkin cheesecake, actually 4 of them, that a bright line follower posted on their IG page that had all BLE compliant foods. It was delicious, but definitely triggering. After eating one of them all I could think about were the other 3. I ended up eating another one. Then the next day I ate the other 2, followed by 3 binge days. I’m a 10 on susceptibility scale and new at this way of eating. I definitely learned my lesson on keeping things simple. Boy oh boy do I wish my brain wasn’t this way. 😔

    Love the hot shower analogy. That helps me clearly understand how to gauge whether or not a food is a trigger for me, thank you.

    You know, whenever I see one of those delicious-looking muffins on Instagram, my first reaction is “Oooo, that would light me right up..” I wouldn’t be able to handle that. To me, we are sometimes trying to mimic a forbidden food. Tricking our brains although it is BLE compliant. If I’m even thinking of playing that game, it’s not worth it. I know that cheese or even a slice of bacon can be questionable for me!

    I started on BLE again, and this was definitely something I got caught up with on my weight loss journey. I kept finding more and more people posting new groups on how to make food more enjoyable and making it more appealing etc. I got rid of all of those groups I was in and I am back in it with whole foods. It was my biggest down fall when feeling too confident only 3 months into my journey and started venturing out and trying to make meals into waffles, muffins, BLE friendly oat cakes etc. For me, its a Slippery slope for sure. Thank you for making this video.

    Re: monotony and simplicity of food, our cats and dogs eat the same thing daily and look how much they enjoy it. Also, watch out for garlic and onion, at least in powder form, and powdered Chipotle pepper. They have proved to be notably appetite provoking for me as a 10.

      without trying to, I find that I've dropped onion from my cooking - I don't miss it now (I'm a 10 too)

    Probably not a waffle. Probably a chaffle. These are made with a egg and cheese equally one protein. You simply pour the mixture in a waffle maker to get the shape. Not anymore sexy than if you scrambled the egg and cheese together and poured it in to an omelette pan.

    • @erin1209169
      @erin1209169 2 года назад +4

      If it's not more sexy why go to the trouble of making it shaped like a waffle?

      Indeed, Linda, for some it might not be too sexy. For others, that cheese with the crispy edges, or perhaps just that baked-goods shape, could start to play tricks on their brain. As Susan pointed out, some borderline foods might be problematic for some and not for others, and vice versa. The idea is to be keenly aware of your own. 🧡

    YES, YES, YES - I don't want to go anywhere near any of those 'constructions' that make previously exciting foods BLE compliant!

    I think of these as 'trigger foods'...they are not particularly addictive in themselves but they trigger addiction for me...these include avocadoes, nuts, fresh dates, maca, tea, raw cacao powder, and salt...my brain fights me, arguing that I am being too 'extreme'...this was helpful....thank you!

    Susan I would love it if you would talk about artificial sweeteners. They can fall further down the ingredient list but because they are so concentrated they can be a problem in foods that are technically comliant.

    I really love eating simple. I do need more ideas of things to eat so it’s not SO redundant. I don’t love eggs but I can enjoy a plain scrambled egg a few times a week…just not every day. Etc. I don’t know what beans to eat-I never had them before. In one vlog, Susan, you said a person could eat mini shredded wheat with salt like a cracker. That with peanut butter and fruit has become my go-to bright breakfast and I can eat it every day with no problem. Enjoy the heck out of it in the moment but don’t think about it once outside of breakfast. I need more meals like that, esp for lunch and supper.

    I only make simple, monotonous food for myself. My recent clock reset resulted from informality (one plate) and real sexy vegan ground beef. I ended up consuming countless serving spoons shoveling it in. Next day I was fine.
    On a happier note my birthday, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and Father’s Day, I let my wife make us vegan cauliflower crust pizza. There is just enough for each person to have their portion. There are no leftovers. I don’t know how to make it. It makes my wife happy to make these meals that she is unable to cook for me the other 355 days.

    Great video - thank you!! What about things like herbs and spices used in homemade salad dressings? Or garlic? Is that what SPT was referring to when mentioning that salt & pepper are ok; but perhaps not other herbs/spices/garlic because they add too much flavor?

    • @Brightlineeating
      @Brightlineeating  2 года назад +2

      Hi there! Herbs and spices are generally ok, but if you think they are becoming problematic for you, you can apply the Four Questions using the acronym PHEW: Do you have Peace with it? Is it Healthy? Is it Escalating? Is it messing with your Weight?
      If you have further questions about this specific topic, we'd recommend talking it over with one of our expert BLE coaches! 💚

    Yes. I did Whole 30 at one time and they called those borderline foods “sex with your pants on” which makes sense to me. 😂
    Personally, I avoid mixing things up together ie: smoothies, soup, etc. The simpler the better for me.

      @erin1209169 2 года назад +11

      Honestly? It's not for everyone. But I don't do this to be skinny. I do this to free of my addiction and at peace. That's what BLE is for. Getting to goal weight is a side effect. If you think getting skinny is the answer then I wouldn't even bother getting there because you'll gain the weight back unless you make peace and freedom your focus. It's worth it though as a hard-core food addict.
