A library card is one of the best frugal luxuries. I love holding a physical book in my hands, and I’m not crazy about the idea of a kindle as I try to limit screen time. And it doesn’t cost a thing
Many years ago as a young married woman I remember my mother telling me to buy the best flour I could afford. That might not mean much if you aren’t a home baker/cook. You can’t expect a good end product if you don’t use quality ingredients. My mother was a wonderful cook.
Drinking tea in a proper bone china tea cup and using crystal glasses (thrift store) for drinks even water. A pitcher of cold water and ice cubes with some lemon. A slow cooker full of chicken soup.
I boil maple sap in spring and the absolute best part is sitting by the fire outside with a hot cup of coffee or tea for hours and hours…and then there is the syrup too 😊.
I received a bird bath for a gift several years ago. I enjoy watching the birds and squirrels use it and I make sure it is full all through the summer.
I also love watching them drink and bathe. I upgraded to a heated bird bath. Now they have warm water for drinking and bathing once the temperature drops. The deer love it as well. Nature is such a relaxer.
Sitting outside with a good cup of tea or coffee, watching the birds is priceless. Investing in a good mattress and soft sheets doesnt have to break the bank, but makes for a luxurious sleep experience.
Great reminder to appreciate the little things. I love sitting out on our deck with a cup of tea. I also love good quality peanut butter, and good quality shoes.
Fresh bedding 🙌 that first coffee in the morning , the beautiful view from my window. My biggest luxury is the time i get from being self employed to be with my 4 children ❤
For me it is a hot hot shower, amazingly smelling lotion after, then put on the softest robe and socks, light a candle and read a book with pistachio icecream.😊🥰
I have an electric blanket and have for at least 20 years. My boyfriend has a heated mattress pad. Talk about the best of both worlds! I have lots of injuries and I don't do well when I'm cold, so I totally love these heated blankets and pad..
You have really hit the nail on the proverbial head with this video! Many things about it spoke to me. In particular when you mentioned food and how purchasing a few top drawer items to eat for a small fraction of what it costs to go out and eat a mediocre meal! Also you spoke of going to a really wonderful restaurant once a month. For us it works out to perhaps once a year and we enjoy it "to the Moon and back",,,, There were several other ideas that likewise hit home. Too many to mention here. I just want to thank you sincerely for your well thought out suggestions.Your ideas can really help people enjoy their lives more and help us slow down and consider the choices we make! Mary in Montreal ❤
I have been journalling for years. I write about trips and what i do or see or feel. I write quotes i love and sometimes try to write my own poetry. I paste cards given to me and use stickers. im also a watercolorist and keep a paint journal. Some day my grandkids will love these❤
I put a strip of blue lights above my bathtub and I take a wonderful bubble bath nightly. The ambience is beautiful and relaxing. I also saved to buy a little electric heater that looks like a wood stove. It looks peaceful while laying in bed.
I enjoy going to thrift stores and buying various items of fine china that may not be part of the same patterns but that share similar colors. Including bone china cups. They make a beautiful presentation and make me feel rich.
I make my own coffee with a pour over style coffee maker. I buy the coffee I like in large quantities and also the filters . I am saving a ton of money and the coffee tastes great.
Buy a comfy pair of PJ’s. Plan on being home for a day or weekend! Take a bubble bath or hot shower. Read a book. Or binge watch your favorite movies. Be snuggled and cuddled to your pets or children. Have your homemade chicken soup ready for anytime of the day! ❤
Having a good quality foot massager. As an educator on my feet all day coming home to a good foot massage saves money on going to a salon and is relaxing and rejuvenating.
This is so true! I never go to spas, but my mom bought me a foot massager and I use it all the time. I love to sit in the rocker with the kitty or a cup of coffee and stare out the window getting my feet rubbed.
Agree on all counts. When my K-cups increased horribly in price, I switched to a French press. Get the ground coffee from a local coffee shop so delicious 😋 half the cost and feel so chic. 🎉
My frugal luxury is a plush spa-quality floor-length robe. It is like a warm hug on cool/cold/damp northern day or night. It was pricey but going into its 10th year, it still looks great.
Slowing down and going for a walk. I usualy choose longer way to walk to my office. I had to get up earlier but I can walk slowly and enjoy the walk instead of running late.
To me, true luxury is having a home that reflects your style and meets your needs. We were fortunate to have the option to choose finishes we loved and make custom changes to the layout to suit our lifestyle. One of our key criteria was finding two properties close to each other because my sister and her family were house hunting at the same time, and we wanted to be neighbors. Seeing your family most days is a priceless luxury that nothing else can replace. P.S.: We have a bidet, but I do not use it for the purpose it was intended. It comes in handy very often during the week for tasks related to cleaning dirty objects or filling a bucket of water.
I take $20 in cash, go to Target, get a Starbucks and wander through the store. I get to study the clearance sales and linger in the stationary section.
Great video! I do alot of these and they add up to feeling so good! They empower me to be thankful for the little things that add up to self care to handle and enjoy life! Frugal self care is right in front of us for the taking! Thank you for sharing your thought and ideas!❤😊
You have just reminded me of the juice I have been drinking lately. I only have a small glass but it is so good and I enjoy it greatly. Believe it or not it is Ruby, red grapefruit juice and I love it. It is so good and fruity and I enjoyed every sip. Yum.❤
Great video. My friend's hobby is going to estate sales and garage sales. She's purchased practically her whole wardrobe this way, and it's resulted in lots of nice clothing that looks beautiful on her. She's practically furnished her whole house this way too....she's gotten some gorgeous furniture pieces and household items at unbelievably low prices. Last week she gave me a brand new pair of Alegria Shoes she found at an estate sale, and I love them. Enjoy the season....can you believe we're only 11 days away from Christmas?!
I love making coffee and Indian tea with mint and ginger and its delicious. Our morning starts with a cup of tea and it saves tons of money too. Love to be a member of Amazon prime , especially when you have kids - having Amazon prime is a life saviour. You never know when there will be fancy dress or world book day at school and its time saving to order something from Amazon rather than having trips to local clothing stores.. Great tips as always.
Twice a year I order custom blend teas and roast to order coffee beans from New York and Maine shops (I live on west coast). They are pricey but I love them, drink them and I feel good with a little treat. I also special order spices once a year. The other affordable luxury…. I buy hand and foot masks that are filled with moisturizers and wear these while enjoying my beverage. Total cost is about $250 a year but it’s worth every penny.
Good yarn. Especially for Christmas presents. But store brand yarn makes a good filler yarn to stretch out that expensive yarn. Hot tea. Fluffy pjs and heavy blankets
High-quality spa fluffy bath towels, yummy varieties of tea, and a high-quality insulated drink tumbler. I bought my towels about 15 years ago and they are still going strong! Forget the Stanley trend, I purchased an Ozark tumbler about 10 years ago and was lifted a Yeti about 8 years ago, still using them and they still keep ice cold for a super long time. Thanks for another encouraging video!
I couldn’t agree more on your suggestion of journaling. I have never done it, but use a calendar as a diary. My parents and sibling (who had a good memory) have all passed, and I am putting the family story together. Oh how I wish I had some written records! When our son was born I asked the four grandparents to write their story for him, only one did. I wish we had more!
Never use plastic cutlery and plates, only ceramics or porcelaine and always set the table with a tabkecloth(no matter if you are alone or it's just a snack). You know...i'm Italian❤
I agree about the coffee! Some coffees give me heartburn and I finally found a brand that I like, gives 10% to the farmers, is organic and, for decaf, is Swiss-water processed (no chemicals). They have a very large selection of regions they buy from and offer whole beans or various ground types. I will also add a milk steamer/foamer. I love cappuccinos and can make one at home. It also heats and foams hot chocolate(yum). It’s a stand alone small appliance, easy to store and not that expensive unlike those large machines. If you start a journal you may want to print instead of using cursive! A lot of schools are not teaching cursive any more which is a shame in my opinion. Maybe that can develop into a side hustle someday for someone to “translate” grandma’s journals written in 2025 in cursive! I also like lighting candles at night for dinner and playing classical music. I’ve been doing this for 40+ years, my kids grew up with it. It sets the stage for a relaxing meal no matter how fancy or casual the meal is. Drying sheets on the line! When my daughter was in the Peace Corps I sent her freshly laundered and air dried pillow cases. She could still smell “home” in them. Extra points for ironing them!😊 Love your channel. Thanks for all the great tips and keeping it “real”.
Your translating cursive reminded me of something. After my mom passed and I found some of her recipes, they were in shorthand. Um…I had to find someone to translate them for me.
Such a beautiful and friendly video; thank you . I do some of the above stuff . Like declutter my home: the bidet bought at Amazon attaches to the toilet. Pillows bought at Amazon (brand?) i have a habit of pushing pillows out and not sleeping on them 😅. Amazon Prime definitely: after COVID definitely learned the habit of ordering my groceries through drive up; really saves me time. Or if I want to pick up my groceries; I put items in my shopping cart and then go shopping ; Making my bed; hmmmm 😢 my two pets always on my bed; you might not like it; but I do make my bed Thank you again ❤
You are very wise for a young woman. I love all your tips and I will certainly use some myself. I think the last one of slowing down and enjoying things more and being grateful is wonderful. I have a very small house but I am lucky to live in the country with pretty scenery. My cat and I enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning on my small porch. Thank you for your videos. You are very inspiring
Their empty containers are perfect for storing things (dried small pasta or grains), or making chia puddings or overnight oatmeal. Just don’t nuke them. I also store jar lids in one (I keep spaghetti sauce and other jars for addtl storage).
My sister buys those and all of her house is full of the containers she saves after for storage. Lol. The container is very nice and so is the ice cream! @@THEJENNIFERCOOK
My yoga mat - loads RUclips yoga classes online, which saves me £9.00 per session. Also I get to practice when I please. Nothing better than a good stretch ❤
Wow, those Coop pillows are pricey. I may get one because I have never had a really comfortable pillow. I agree with you that buying quality items pays off in the long run. Thank you for another wonderful video.
If you’re always super busy to spend time at the grocery store or out shopping, and instead sit at home or in your car waiting for someone else to bring your stuff, you might be missing luxuries things like keep your mind engaged, interact with yourself and others, enjoy the weather, and stay active, which is great for your health.
That could very well be true for some. Still, for me, as a caregiver for two ill family members (or for a busy parent with children), if I have a choice between spending 20, 30, or more minutes in a grocery store, clothing store, etc., and having those minutes totally alone in a quiet car waiting (praying or reading), or sitting quietly at home waiting, I will take those moments and let the grocery store/A'zon or other business do the work for me. Rest/self-care is also great for your health. I think we are both right- it depends on the person and their particular circumstances.
I love my electric throw it covers the full sz.bed but was a throw hslf the price as blanket.I use it for hrs.anight. I plan to get a MY Pillow, Im sure it is very comfy. Love coffee too good video.
Walking for fitness and wellbeing, walking your kids to school. Walking to grocery/restaurants. It's free and you can socialize, enjoy nature, listen to podcasts, drink a lovely beverage from home. Also playing a chill Playlist while doing my 99cent goodwill puzzles or playing chess...things that are slow make me realize the luxury of time. 😊
I have a French press coffee every morning and grind beans fresh each time. It takes a few minutes (and I’m a very busy mom of two young children) and helps me slow down for that time. To make it even better, I make it extra strong and enjoy it with a splash of cream. Even if everything else goes crazy in my day, I have that cup of coffee to savor.
Fictional writing is also a very minimalistic and cheap hobby that really can be as creative and satisfying as a project that requires a lot of expensive materials. I am going to spend more time with this during the no spend January I am planning for myself! 😊 Buying cool coffeetable books at thrift store is another frugal luxury as many of these still are in really good condition. Then, as an autistic individual with some sensory sensibilities grocery stores are often very energy draining places for me to be, so home deliviery services (or the option to go there only to pick up your ready filled bags) are gold. That was also how me and my family didn't starve during our very strict pandemic lockdown...
We are so use to being frugal with our money, but we need to start being frugal with our time. We can not get back our time with our children when they are young. So when we talk about food pickup and delivery as being frugal...it includes being frugal with our time and that feels luxurious to me. Some of the items on your list are not luxurious but just necessities, a great night sleep includes a pillow that allows you to sleep, sheets that are comfortable. If you work in an industry that requires you to be on your feet all day, think, teachers, nurses, retail, construction and hospitality, a pedi is a must every 4-6 weeks not a luxury. I think what is frugal luxury to one person can be considered a necessity to another. We all need to recognize this.
Regarding your point with bedsheets; ill have to say that I’ve had the same sheets from ikea for nearly 7 years now. 100% cotton, no plastic-y fibers whatsoever and they are holding up STRONG. Ive spent 22$ and am still in shock how they’ve been holding up. 😊
It is so hard to find all cotton anything now days,I bought a like a fuzzy loose jacket robe thing for lounging ,and I wear it and absolutely start sweating ,all fake fabric , nothing real hardly anymore, I have to really check fabric content on what I buy, these fake fabrics, alcannit be healthy, fabric is supposed to breathe, this stuff is so fake cheap yet they charge alot.makes me so mad..I am replacing all my fake fabric clothes with natural fiber clothes, I would rather have less clothes and feel good wearing it ,and it breathes..
@ i totally agree! I’ve been having the same issues and started buying as many things out of cotton, linen and musseline as possible. It really does make a difference, besides the fact that it lasts way longer, it’s better for the environment, for your skin and it’s forgiving when it comes to putting it in the wash!

I love Amazon Prime and I love being a Walmart + member along with the inhome delivery. It saves me time and aggravation 😊 And for the small extra annual fee for inhome delivery, the delivery is tip free. It’s a win win 😊
As someone who always had hard time getting up early in the morning, sleeping in is a big luxury after I had my daughter, yes my husband can help out, but I can still hear them which means I still can't sleep well 😂
A library card is one of the best frugal luxuries. I love holding a physical book in my hands, and I’m not crazy about the idea of a kindle as I try to limit screen time. And it doesn’t cost a thing

Carolyn, she was absolutely right! ❤️
Drinking tea in a proper bone china tea cup and using crystal glasses (thrift store) for drinks even water. A pitcher of cold water and ice cubes with some lemon. A slow cooker full of chicken soup.
Peace and quiet with a cup of tea and sit outside in nature
In warm weather, I love sitting on my deck with my cat!
I boil maple sap in spring and the absolute best part is sitting by the fire outside with a hot cup of coffee or tea for hours and hours…and then there is the syrup too 😊.
Nature is absolutely beautiful.
I received a bird bath for a gift several years ago. I enjoy watching the birds and squirrels use it and I make sure it is full all through the summer.
This is also a great thing to do for seniors. Many of them love watching wildlife.
I also love watching them drink and bathe. I upgraded to a heated bird bath. Now they have warm water for drinking and bathing once the temperature drops. The deer love it as well. Nature is such a relaxer.
A good quality vacuum cleaner
I found a mid priced one I really like.
Yes, quality shoes are definitely one thing I also enjoy. 🤗
I love cashmere sweaters at Macy's on sale on 12/26. They last for years and keep you warm.
All of this but a glass of wine by the fire place listening to some music
Thoughtfully curated instrumental playlists for different purposes like driving, dinner music, relaxation/reading etc.
I do this. My Spotify playlists are so chaotically different 😂
I do this with movies when I crochet. :)
I have an electric blanket and have for at least 20 years. My boyfriend has a heated mattress pad. Talk about the best of both worlds! I have lots of injuries and I don't do well when I'm cold, so I totally love these heated blankets and pad..
I've been thinking about using a heating pad but I'm afraid I'll go to sleep on it.
My anniversary is days after Christmas. My husband bought me a pretty ring and a heated mattress pad. I cheered about the mattress pad! 🎉❤
Most heat pads now come with automatic 'turn-off' timer.

A good handbag.
Also fluffy towels and good quality bed linen.
My weakness is nice towels and nice bed sheets. The good side of my weakness is my 3 daughters have never have to buy towels or sheets!!
Yes to a good pillow! I also enjoy focusing on better quality food at home.
Liking before I watch cuz you always got great frugal tips.
I invested in a beautifully made set of dishes and now every meal feels like a special occasion.
Time is such a precious thing

Sounds wonderful! Keep up the great work. I also doodle and journal 😊
Having a clean car makes me feel like I’m more in control of my day.
I put a strip of blue lights above my bathtub and I take a wonderful bubble bath nightly. The ambience is beautiful and relaxing. I also saved to buy a little electric heater that looks like a wood stove. It looks peaceful while laying in bed.

I bake my own bread. It's really delicious, better than what I can get at the store, and costs about $1 a loaf, so I'm saving money, too.
I make my own coffee with a pour over style coffee maker. I buy the coffee I like in large quantities and also the filters . I am saving a ton of money and the coffee tastes great.

Paula, stretching is essential for me as well. Hugs 🤗
Always enjoy your videos ❤
Wow, those Coop pillows are pricey. I may get one because I have never had a really comfortable pillow. I agree with you that buying quality items pays off in the long run. Thank you for another wonderful video.
In the summer I love spending my money on some sweet berries of some kind. To me that's a nice simple frugal luxury. mmmm.
I used to have a darkroom. Now I love doing digital photography. It also helps me pay attention and appreciate the world around me.
We have a bidet. Love it.
Thank you for this great video. What brand of bubble bath do you recommend Jennifer?
Hi Heather, you are very welcome. I use Dr. Teals.
Crystal glasses from second hand shops
The Polar Tropic pillow is my favourite and we buy high quality sheets. Those are our luxuries.
Buying cool coffeetable books at thrift store is another frugal luxury as many of these still are in really good condition.
Then, as an autistic individual with some sensory sensibilities grocery stores are often very energy draining places for me to be, so home deliviery services (or the option to go there only to pick up your ready filled bags) are gold. That was also how me and my family didn't starve during our very strict pandemic lockdown...
Studies show journaling is good for your brain and immune system.
I can't FIND a pillow! Please please share your pillows! Thanks for sharing that one.
I am sure you will get some great ideas from other viewers! This community is super helpful 🤗
We have My Pillow and love them. We received a special blessing this Christmas so we splurged on a new bed which will help my husband’s back issues.
That is awesome!
I have an e-blanket. And, just as you say, it’s so relaxing & cozy at night on a chilly winter’s night 😀
Love that!
I want to get one of those, or something similar. My bedroom is always cold.
You are absolutely right about spending our time wisely and with those we love.
Good bedding all cotton
Love this video
Cheryl, thank you so much!
Michelle, that is fantastic!

As someone who always had hard time getting up early in the morning, sleeping in is a big luxury after I had my daughter, yes my husband can help out, but I can still hear them which means I still can't sleep well 😂
A quality wallet! 😊
