Wow i am glad i found this. When I'm sick idk what im dying from more the illness or the pills haha. Everytime i tilt my head backwards i gulp all the water up but the pill remains
Omg it worked!!!! Where have you guys been all my life?!?! My whole life I have struggled and get so much anxiety. Thank you sooooooo much for this tip!!!
I have a lot of trouble swallowing in general and usually habe to drink a lot while eating to push food down. Over time I learned to actively relax my throat, even when it tries to close up and I can manage now.
@@euclix1601 I usually pull my chin up to stretch my throat. I don't know whethet that actually help, but just thinking it does helps me relax and focus on swallowing. Especially when I start feeling resistance I have to calm myself down
@euclix1601 I too have this problem. My throat spasms shut at times. For me what has mostly worked is sipping water and swallowing and waiting. If it relaxes that’s great. If not I’ll choke a bit and then force it up and I’ll try again. The last bad experience I had was it wouldn’t relax and I had done the sip sick technique about several hundred times. I was 3 hours into sitting in A&E when it relaxed spontaneously. Before that I had to have surgery. I have this problem frequently but most times it will resolve with the sip sick technique. Coughing violently doesn’t work and I think it causes more damage in the long run. But I also have buscopan pills which I have yet to try but was thinking of snorting them/rubbing in my gums/or shoving up my bum for an alternative way. I’ve had this issue for about 25 years, but recently it had got worse. Liquids never spark it off, nor do some foods, but other foods are nearly a constant. Most often than not, a tiny sip will often sit on my throat and then it relaxes. The sip sick technique I talk about is when the small water doesn’t work.
the thing is, dont overthink it. my trick is to put it on the back of my tounge with my hand and then just start drinking water as if its not there. it may take a few tries at first but once you get the hang of it, it works everytime.
just first think that it will work and it will go down, after that gut is gone put it on ur tongue (i recommend the middle or front) drink a sip of water (not mouth full of water) then if you still have it and you can handle the taste, keep thinking it will work and swallow it! (hope it works!!)
The speech therapist at the hospital where I worked I always used to tell patients to remember this my thinking that they were supposed to bow their head and pray it goes down the right way 😂😂
I’m 15 and take lamotrigine for my epilepsy And I’m used to swallowing small pills But when I’m sick and I have to swallow the bout pills I gag and all that But thanx to u I was able to take them with no complications
Thank you so so much, this is really helps me I have struggled to take pills my whole life and I just found out that I'm currently pregnant and I have to take some pills for a week this technique has really helped me out so much!!
It works for me with small capsules and pills sparkling water too, but with big capsules are a bit struggle bc my throat feels tighter and then when y try to swallow a small one instead it feels tighter and I end up throwing it in the trash.
I have always struggled with tablets. I recently found that if I take a sip of water( or whatever drink available) without swallowing, put the tablet in and then swallow. I found this easier to take meds.
As someone that struggles from time to time another method I had a doctor show me was to use a cup like she did with a straw. Put the pill on my tongue and then just take a good hard drink from the straw like your trying to get the last of the drink in the cup. You don't even notice the pill as it gets slam dunked down your throat.
I guess this is why I find it easier to swallow capsules, tablets, etc. with small sips of liquid rather than big gulps. But when I was younger, I thought the secret to swallowing such things was to throw my head back as vigorously as possible.
This helped!! As a person who hates bitter tastes, I just had a tablet in my hand and swallowed it instantly my tilting my head back, thank you do much doc!🎉
I used to find it hard to swallow pills but then I had a very unlucky two-year period in middle school. In short: strep throat 4 times, then stomach problems because of the antibiotics, all while going to neurologists and everyone on the list trying to find a cause for my awful headaches (nothing found to this day, seems to just be from a mix of me not sleeping right and chemical sensitivity, especially in the period when the boys were discovering axe body spray). So I had to go through a lot of different pills (some of the tablets I had to take at some point were the size of about 2-2.5cm in length and pretty chunky) and just learned to cope. I also ended up with a permanent indent on my arm from all the blood tests
i have always done this. capsules, you throw your head front because it floats therefore its closer to the throat then swallow. tablets you throw your head back because it sinks
Another tip that may make it easier if you have meds that taste terrible: Take a gulp of water **before** dropping the pill in your mouth It works most of the time
I just keep drinking bc if I leave the water in my mouth I have a harder time swallowing it I found this being easier for me because im not focused on the pill
I had great difficulties to swallow even a smallest pill when I was young. Nowadays I don't necessarily even need water to swallow those 11 pills I have to take every morning to stay alive.
needed this for my antibiotics cause i always opened the capsules and poured them onto honey but i decided to actually try normally and it worked after a few goes, thank you
I've never had trouble with pills after I developed this method. Put the pill on the middle of your tongue and forget about it (as best you can). Then drink the water normally, as if the pill isnt there. I used to struggle because I was over manipulating the pill with my tongue. The pill will easily go where the water goes if you drink normally.
Thank you I have been on a pill for some time and it would get stuck or somthing and it would fell teribel it made me dread having to take them. I tried your tip and now it does not feel uncomfortabel anymore!
I use this method. I take a variety of medicines of different types daily. The worst ones are the massive horse pills at night. I use the same method to swallow them but I let the medicine sit in the water in my mouth for a bit before swallowing.
I find a little head shake helps too sometimes when tablets or pills want to stick to your tongue even after you tilt you head back, the shake helps them fall back.
Bro thank you I’m 15 and I’ve been using lamotrigine for my epilepsy for years no I’m used to swallowing small pills But when I’m sick and I need to swallow those huge pills I gag But thanks to this vid I took the pill no problem thanx
I always swallow pills by first tilting the head back and then tilt it forward while swallowing. I find it difficult to swallow with my head back, so the moving forward makes the swallowing part a lot easier and the pill still is at the back of my throat
My friends are always amazed at how easy for me to swallow pills but they don't know how often I got sick when I was young back then so I get used to swallowing any medication that it feels like almost nothing now
i took one gel capsule a few minutes ago and i’m scared to take the second😭 the first ones big and got stuck in my throat so i had to jug water after struggling for like 5 min and almost throwing up💀 my dog was looking at me like i was crazy
Istg swallowing pills and tablets is way easier when sick. It’s like my body is in autopilot but when I get to the ending stages of sickness, it’s suddenly no longer can take pills without gagging 😢
NOOOO WONDERR!!!!! MY DOCTOR TOLD ME TILT MY HEAD BACK AS A KID IVE BEEN DOING THAT EVER SINCE!! BUT RECENTLY I COULD NEVERRR SWALLOW MY SUPPLEMENT CAPSULES BECAUSE I ALWAYS TILT MY HEAD BACK AND JUST LIKE YOU SAID IT GOES TOWARDS MY TEETH WTFF!! THANKS DOCC
The best way to do it is to just let reflexes do it: place the pill on your tongue close to your teeth (like one does to food) and let your body do its swallowing thing. (Source: Taking lots of meds daily. I'm not going to take one pill 9x per day: they're all going down together.)
I once took too long to get water for my Tylenol, and had to taste the inside of it for a few seconds. Let’s just say, I’m never putting a pill straight onto my tongue again.
I need to show this to my cousin, she can barely swallow a pill to save her life 🤣
I can't swallow medicine either. I crush the pills disolve it in water and then drink this medicine solution 😂
@@vidhisumariya bruhHHHH 😆 sounds nasty 😭
@@vidhisumariya I do that to

My tip is to use a water bottle while drinking and tilting to bottle & continuing to drink because it will force you to swallow
I can't not even that works
@@coolpumpkins453 bro this worked for the first time in my life i swallowed a capsule thanks a lot.
Ya
Thanks for this. Certain pills always get stuck in my throat and burn. So now I'll do the water trick with it tilted back.
I know it sucks
I hate when that happens
Smart choice. It works. It’s just something a lot of people didn’t know or chose to ignore
If that doesn't work, eat something small afterwards, like a marshmallow, or a cookie or such, that will force it down, and not cause the burning.
Wow i am glad i found this. When I'm sick idk what im dying from more the illness or the pills haha. Everytime i tilt my head backwards i gulp all the water up but the pill remains
So, I'm not alone. 😢
True! Everytime i get medicines i always hope it's anything BUT tablets. Those are the worst bc even if you swallow they still leave an after taste!
When I'm at the mental hospital I'd tell the doctor that I have trouble taking pills so they would give me extra pudding
Smart. 😂
I got apple sauce 😭
I just have a fear of swallowing tablets....
same and its annoying
Me trying to swallow a pill.

This is brilliant! I'm going to use this to teach my autistic son to swallow pills!
It’s works like magic I use this method. 😊 You can also try putting it in pudding like nurses do in nursing homes.

What works for me, is to take my pills with a carbonated beverage, such as Coke. The bubbles cause the pills to 'float', and they go right down.
oh shit it worked a lot better than water. thank you

Works for protein powder too, makes it taste way better or have a neutral taste if "unflavored"
