• Fastpacking the Cooloo...
I recently took off on a semi-impulse trip to Great Sandy National Park, 2hrs north of Brisbane.
The Cooloola Great Walk is a ~90km trail stretching from Noosa North Shore to Rainbow Beach. The trail winds through surprisingly diverse terrain, including long stretches of beach, huge coastal dunes, scrubby bushland and cool rainforests, with the odd bits of swamp in between!
The hike is usually done over 5 days (like I did) and there are 4 well appointed walkers camps along the route, spaced roughly 15-21km apart. Unfortunately the video I had taken in camp was lost due to an SD card failing, so there are a few little gaps in my video - sorry can't be helped!
This area isn't as dramatic as some others, but it's a pleasant and rewarding hike that gets you out of the house and into nature for the best part of a week - and i'ts right here in south east Queensland!

Nice one Ben - great insight for our initial planning.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video thanks! Good to see more info on local bushwalks.
Ha ha! I had to laugh! Young fella like you getting tired. Wait until you get to my age (70). I agree that it can be tiring, but it is so beautiful I usually do it every year. Nice video.
Loving your amazing video !
Well done on your 5 day hike. I enjoy your honesty, it's refreshing. The drone footage and your brief to the point comments are appreciated. Looking to solo hike myself in the coming year. Start with day hikes, then overnight. Your videos make for realistic expectations. Thank you
Hi Amanda, thanks so much for the kind words. Good luck and happy adventuring!
Congratulations, great mix beetween Drone and Osmo pocket !👍🏻 It’s looks like Frazer island no ??
Thanks! Fraser is just north of here so yeah it’s very similar.
Enjoyed yr vid mate, would've appreciated insights on the more practical aspects of the hike, such as water sources, info on camp site setup & tips on 'not what to do'. cheers
I did it in january 2023, not the smartest timing but i'd be happy to answer if you have questions.
Splendid. Very impressive mate both video and your trip......
Thanks so much, glad you liked it!
Awesome. So good. Thanks for documenting this Ben.
Thanks John, glad you liked it!
Well done! One of my favourite parts of Queensland, and Australia.
Thanks Sonia, I didn’t really know about it until recently but it’s great!

Hi Caroline, thanks so much I’m glad you liked it!
Just came across your channel. Good stuff, keep it up.
Thanks very much!
Great video. Must do that sometime!
Nice one mate! I'm hoping to do this one later this year too
Thanks Steven! I doubt it would be much fun in Summer but other than that, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
G'day Ben.
I do not think that way. I myselfe am an morning person and that means I like to go early and get down and home or camped. exullent work with the drone.
Merry christmas.
Gerard.
Hi Gerard, yeah I'm coming around to that way of thinking myself - up early and get where you're going early. It just seems to be against my nature so I have to force myself a bit!
Awesome video
Thanks Nickola!
Did you have to carry all your food and water or were you able to resupply?
There is water at the 4 campsites on the trail but you need to carry your food.
