Totally agree, it was probably 11 or 12. We just LOVE the worker investment. The more workers you invest there, the better it gets. I wish more games would do that!
Rajas! Of course. My groups really like Lords of Waterdeep, Champions of Midgard and Evil High Priest too. I think we are ready for Lorenzo Il Magnifico I just hope it's not too beige.😁
Yeah, my favorite worker placement game is Lords of Waterdeep. My copy is nearly worn out. It's #81 on BGG with a 7.74 rating with over 50k votes, so while YOU may not like it, that doesn't mean it's not a good game or can't be worthy of a spot on a gamers top 10 worker placement games. A new up and comer for our game group is Galaxy Hunters. Think of it like Pacific Rim in space. Who knew kaiju hunting in space with giant robots could be a great worker placement game? You have a giant robot and a fleet of ships to fly around the galaxy to gather resources and build parts for your robot. To start with, your robot doesn't even have a gun. When you are ready, your giant robot faces off with kaiju and turn in their DNA for bounty. The expansion adding ambassadors and dice to combat is also a good addition to the game.
@@dallastexas5653 I'm a little confused by this. What would you consider the mechanism in the game where you put out your workers to collect resources each round?
There is of course worker placement in Everdell but it’s a Tableau builder first in my opinion. The way you manage resources and build out your 15 card tableau is what the game really centers around and the workers are kinda there to help gather some resources to assist you. One of my favorite games though. So I’d say it’s a tableau building game with elements of worker placement and resource management :)
My top worker placement games in no particular order would be: Agricola, Architects of the West Kingdom, Targi, Champions of Midgard, Viticulture and Istanbul. It is my wife's favourite mechanic and one of mine too so we have many great games to choose from!
Recently played Creature Comforts and really enjoyed it. Very unique way the workers and dice are used but very accessible and fun. Would probably make my top 10
I absolutely ADORE [Keyflower]. The way that bidding and working tiles both use meeples giving you an interesting decision on what to commit to. The beautiful simplicity of the coloured meeples allowing you to deliberately block a tile. While I love [a Feast for Odin], I feel the player interaction is a bit too light for me. I think [Keyflower] gets the balance perfect.
Have you guys played Ora et Labora? It's got so many cool things in it! A spatial reasoning puzzle, resources that build up over time, the ability to use your opponent's workers, and so much turning resources into other resources.
Controversial pick here, but I really love the real time aspect of Pendulum. The first time our group played, I knew it was a hit when everyone started standing up around the table to play. Not for everyone, I know, but I always enjoy it.
So difficult to chose a top 10 because there are so many good WP-games, but Anachrony, Trickerion, Lorenzo il Magnifico, Viticulture, Arnak and Underwater Cities are certainly in my top 10...
WP is my favorite mechanic. I love games that give you more to consider than just the resource acquired or blocking. That’s why Underwater Cities and Raiders of Scythia are 2 of my favorites.
Excellent list, Rajas is probably our favorite followed by Arle and Feast. Some we like a lot that didn't make the list are Tzol'kin, Beyond the Sun and Whistle Mountain.
Rajas of the Ganges is my favorite worker placement game AND my favorite game of all time. Second favorite would be Champions of Midgard, but this one always seems harder to get to the table.
Worker placement is one of our favorites. I agree with Stone Age and Viticulture. Others on the top of our list are Lords of Waterdeep, Manhattan Project Regular and Energy Empire, Yedo, Champions of Midgard, and The Godfather.
So hard to only pick 10. This was a great list. I love that many older, tried and true were included. I need to take another look at Stone Age. Thanks so much, guys! I would add: Teotihuacan: City of Gods, Everdell, and Genotype.

Yes. This would be an amazing expansion. Das game VitCulture. Cultivating wines for dracula and stuff. Blood wine. Maybe there is a Klingon expansion in there too. And Agricola. Yes. And Everdell. Wait, was that in the video? Love your sponsors and the channel. Thanks.
Love worker placement. It's one of my favorite mechanics. Kanban EV is my favorite game and favorite worker placement. I love the theme and how thematic it is. Architects, Raiders, Viticulture are great too!
Good list! My favorite WP is Anachrony. Every decision in the game is just so good and impactful and the theme just hits. Viticulture is very high for me also. On Lords of Waterdeep - I would suggest that the expansion is really required to make it contend, especially the corruption module. I don't know if that's top 10 material, but it's at least one to try.
One of my favorite worker placement games, out of the handful I've played, is Fallout Shelter. It was a very pleasant surprise when I first played it. It's also a fantastic intro worker placement game.

I missed you guys! So many great games. 10 is not enough! You are in some rare air to be in the top 10 of worker placement!! Comments section has so many great ones named!
You should try out Cryo and Argent The Consortium. Cryo has three workers which you place out then return to your player board, and your player board has six actions you can fit a worker onto when you return the board which you customize by pulling resources from the main board using your first set of worker placement actions. Good for other reasons as well, but as a worker placement system that's where it shines. In Argent your workers are mages of different colors and have special power associated with them. So a red mage can be placed where someone has already placed their mage and wound them with their special power. Unless it's a nature mage who is immune to wounding. So not only are you jockeying for positions to place workers, but your workers can directly interact with others in meaningful ways and boost your eventual resolving of the action they're placed on.
Some very good choices! I think I could be quite content if the only worker placement games I owned were Stone Age and Agricola. Stone Age is lighter, has a bit of push-your-luck and laughing-at-others'-misfortune fun in it--and Agricola is sooooooooo crunchy and has a bunch of great cards mini-expansions.
Nice to see some different games in that list compare to the ones we saw almost in every list. There's still a few i still like to play such as : Anachrony (took too much space but still a blast) Little Town (took no place at all, and great for newbies) Architect of the west kingdoms (and or) Raiders of the north sea (that one i like more on the app) Cheers
Viticulture and Stone Age we would match on. Others of mine would include Dune Imperium, Kingsburg, Raiders of Scythia, Pillars of the Earth, Key Flower, Caverna, Lords of Waterdeep.
Honey Buzz is great! That's the game that I taught my parents worker placement with. Can't wait for Lost Ruins of Arnak to be delivered (I just ordered it)! That one looks awesome! Same with Wayfarers! I've also really enjoyed Architects of the West Kingdom, Parks, and My Father's Work. And then my shelf of shame includes Trickerion and Whistle Mountain, both of which I'm looking forward to playing. I will have to try out Feast for Odin and Viticulture too... Great list, guys! Have an excellent day!
I'd love to try Prodigals Club. Sounds really cool. - - We really like Manhattan Project Energy Empire and Lords of Waterdeep. New Bedford and Stone Age are decent too.
Your enthusiasm for Feast for Odin almost makes me want to try it one more time… almost! I’ve play it couple of times and it always fall flat for me… 🤷🏽♂️
Murph-tastic video as always 🙂, I would agree with your number one. Lords of Waterdeep is a family favourite of ours. Circadians First light is a good dice 'worker' placement game.
Right on Lords is a classic that made the path easier to wander for designers looking to explore worker placement mechanisms that's for sure. and good call on Circadians!
Targi is such a sleeper. It does so much with so little. Totally portable, small box, but the experience and immersion is much larger than its package. The expansion is SO not necessary, as usual.
Sadly im just getting into this mechanism, but i really enjoy Godfather Corleone's Empire, Viticulture, Creature Comforts, Fallout Shelter, Lewis & Clark: The Expedition. Want to Try:Architects of the West Kingdom, Ragas of the Ganges(you two talk so highly of this one), Targi, Stone Age
Lords of Waterdeep has never been our favorite and Champions of Midgard is one that we just don’t really play anymore but both are for sure solid games
Awesome list! Have you tried Whistle Mountain though? It has been regarded as a very solid worker placement game also based on tile laying game AND insane combos throughout the game. I would love to hear you thought! Kudos for honey buzz !
Hello again ! About that viticulture, i haven't tried it yet... coz of the theme that is just so Much NOT my taste. But earing so many good thing about it kept me wondering if i could overpass the theme to enjoy it Quick question about it : Does this "WORLD" expansion need Tuscany to be played ? (or is it way better with tuscany) ? Cheers
hey there! yeah it's tough when the theme doesn't grab you and while we absolutely adore Viticulture, it may just not be your bag. With "World" you don't need Tuscany to play it however you can incorporate some Tuscany elements if you wish. We haven't done that yet ourselves
You guys play plenty more games than me (and would be entitled to your own opinion, regardless), so I don't take offense at my favorites' exclusion from the list. I just want to shout them out: Tzolk'in is fantastic! --though also one of the games that gives me the most analysis paralysis and Everdell needs no extra fanfare, but I'd be lying if I didn't mention it among my favorite worker-placement games -- also an understandable exclusion from the list as it isn't solely or primarily a worker-placement game
Those are both games that were on our extended list for sure! Fantastic choices and everdell I think of as more of a worker placement game than most folks. Sure it’s about that sweet sweet tableau building but those workers are so precious!
@@TheBrothersMurph Yeah, it's hard, I haven't played Hallertau yet, but pretty sure it would be up there with rest too! Also, what do you think of his PWP (pre-worker placement) games? Some claim he was abducted by aliens at some point. Also, what is the worst Uwe game? He has made so many great games does he ever miss?
Awesome list! I'm just wondering if you guys still apply your house rule for Viticulture (draw card X+1) for Viticulture World as well. I just recently got my copy along with the wine crate and I'm super excited to get in to it. Thanks!
We haven’t been using our house rule just because certain game elements give that ability to draw differently. And with being Able to do trades and such we have some workarounds
Hmm...I think you guys missed a trick here by combining strict worker placement with dice placement. I'd like to have seen a top 10 for each. Also surprised to see some absolute classic WP games missing: Lords of Waterdeep, Russian Railroads and Underwater Cities!
Finally got to try viticulture recently and it was... good, nothing mindblowing but solid. I feel like I missed the hype train on this one :( I totally agree on Rajas however. That is an amaaazing game
So I love worker placement games and I haven’t watched the video yet. BUT HAS THAT STOPPED ME FROM BEING STOKED AND LIKING THIS VIDEO!?…no it hasn’t. ***update*** finished the video. It was amazing of course. I really wanna try Ganges but it’s not solo 😩
hahaha pump that algorithm regardless! and yeah that's the only knock I guess you could give Rajas. If it was made 2 years later I think 100% there'd be a solo but that was just before gamers really started pushing for solo modes in games.
Great video, I want to get into a Uwe game, do you have a suggestion for where to start? I like the theme but the table presence is intimidating. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Start with patchwork or New York Zoo. If that’s too easy for you, and you want to tackle his big games, I’d say Nusfjord or Hallertau. Feast, Caverna, and Le Havre are amazing games but much heavier, so I would suggest working up to those. Cheers!
Agreed with Canned_Ice there. If you want to jump into an "Uwe game" meaning the farming games, I'd start with Hallertau. Lots of stuff on the table but I found that one to be very accessible given its size. Everything made sense to me in that game and it'd be the one I'd teach to people first. Nusjord and/or Le Havre would be my next choices and from there I'd work up to the Feast for Odins and Cavernas.
The Prodigals Son. “almost assuredly Top Ten!” Come on, man! COMMIT! 😜 With an, “assuredly” I’d buy it. Hand hovering over the Order button! “ASSUREDLY Top Ten”? Or “ALMOST assuredly Top Ten”??????
Am I crazy or is that a DJ Shadow sound clip during your number splashes? Great list btw! Sad you don't care for Lords of Waterdeep, but completely understandable
not that we don't care for it so much as we prefer newer worker placement games that maybe do more than what LoWD did? It certainly paved the way for many great worker placement games that followed.
@@TheBrothersMurph That's totally fair. I feel that way about Dominion. Was it groundbreaking? Absolutely. Has almost ever deck builder since then improved upon the formula? Almost certainly. Everyone has different game tastes though, and they're all valid. Keep up the good work and im excited to see that Uwe video you tooootally promised you'd make! Haha
Really great list...I honestly thought I'd see a different game in there but I wasn't sure if it would qualify with "enough" worker placement in there...how much of worker placement has to be the driving factor in order to make your qualifying list?
@@FemmeSensei the only thing I know about palaces of Carrera is that it's a Kramer and killing game. So couldn't tell you there. Castles of burgundy, been a while since a played. I think there might be workers in there.
We'd love to hear the game you're thinking of. And we didn't have a really solid metric for how much worker placement is enough worker placement. For example, honey buzz uses worker placement simply to get those tiles but all the meat of the game comes from laying out those tiles to trigger actions and such. but we happily count that and are more than happy to count others that have other things going on in the game
Yeah they do a great job of it there’s actually a whole different side of the board for two players to scale the worker placement spots accordingly. Fantastic at two players

Architect of the west kingdoms (and or) Raiders of the north sea (that one i like more on the app)
Cheers
Great additions!
I really wanna play feast for oden but there's nobody know that wouldn't be overwhelmed by the sheer size of this game. Soooo many pieces
There really are a lot of components it’s true
@@TheBrothersMurph have u guys ever tried Whistle Mountain? How would u rate it compared to your top 10 list?
Yeah, even as an experienced gamer I still find Uwe's games too fiddly.
I think my favorite is Nusfjord for solo and Everdell for multiplayer.
Gotta get a hold of Nusfjord so Nick can try it
Viticulture and Stone Age we would match on. Others of mine would include Dune Imperium, Kingsburg, Raiders of Scythia, Pillars of the Earth, Key Flower, Caverna, Lords of Waterdeep.
Nice! Great choices!
All great choices! We've always wanted to play Pillars of the Earth
Let us know how you like Trickerion! We've always wanted to play it
Great video guys! Love to see these top 10s. Just an FYI you spelled Viticulture wrong ❤️
Ah dang good catch
Anachrony, Le Havre and Dune Imperium!
I’ve play it couple of times and it always fall flat for me… 🤷🏽♂️
ah dang that happens sometimes. I honestly love that about games how one person's favorite can be completely average to another.
Abomination:The Heir of Frankenstein & Raiders of Scythia
Nick I love the shirt!
yussssssss
Check out Genotype. Another amazing worker placement, set collection and dice selection game. Artwork is awesome and theme is cool.
nice we've always been interested in that one!
Raiders of the North Sea
Everdell
would be two other ones I add to Targi, Arnak
All solid games
Sadly im just getting into this mechanism, but i really enjoy Godfather Corleone's Empire, Viticulture, Creature Comforts, Fallout Shelter, Lewis & Clark: The Expedition.
Want to Try:Architects of the West Kingdom, Ragas of the Ganges(you two talk so highly of this one), Targi, Stone Age
Nice! So much for you to still explore
I’m surprised Champions of Midgard didn’t get a mention or lords of Waterdeep
Lords of Waterdeep has never been our favorite and Champions of Midgard is one that we just don’t really play anymore but both are for sure solid games
“Trying to create a Bee hole” best description 😂
Fantastic list! Stone Age is classic, thematic goodness. And I love Arnak! (and I agree about Waterdeep ; ) Thanks!
Awesome list! Have you tried Whistle Mountain though? It has been regarded as a very solid worker placement game also based on tile laying game AND insane combos throughout the game. I would love to hear you thought!
Kudos for honey buzz !
We have played it! It was on the short list for this one
@@TheBrothersMurph awesome!! keep on the good work boys :D nice RUclips channel
Hello again !
About that viticulture, i haven't tried it yet... coz of the theme that is just so Much NOT my taste.
But earing so many good thing about it kept me wondering if i could overpass the theme to enjoy it
Quick question about it : Does this "WORLD" expansion need Tuscany to be played ? (or is it way better with tuscany) ?
Cheers
hey there! yeah it's tough when the theme doesn't grab you and while we absolutely adore Viticulture, it may just not be your bag. With "World" you don't need Tuscany to play it however you can incorporate some Tuscany elements if you wish. We haven't done that yet ourselves
What do you think,is it worth to buy Viticulture without Tuscany? Will it be boring in future?
Thanks 🙏
And you still haven’t played Lords of Waterdeep!! It’s ok I still love your videos! 🔥❤️🙏
No we have, it just didn't make the list
Viticulture…. Crazy talk - it should be Energy Empire….. or Marco Polo 2…. Ah well some great games out there
Those are good games as well
I'm a little surprised to not see a West Kingdom Game on this list.
Yeah they all just barely missed the list
Great list. Surprised no Everdell or Architects?
They were on the short list for sure. We were agonizing over putting architects on there
I’ve had the Targi expansion for well over a year and it’s still in shrink as well. Great game nonetheless
We played it the night we recorded this and we were not disappointed in the least! Great expansion
@@TheBrothersMurph haha you guys didn’t wait long. I need to do the same now
You guys play plenty more games than me (and would be entitled to your own opinion, regardless), so I don't take offense at my favorites' exclusion from the list. I just want to shout them out: Tzolk'in is fantastic! --though also one of the games that gives me the most analysis paralysis
and Everdell needs no extra fanfare, but I'd be lying if I didn't mention it among my favorite worker-placement games -- also an understandable exclusion from the list as it isn't solely or primarily a worker-placement game
Those are both games that were on our extended list for sure! Fantastic choices and everdell I think of as more of a worker placement game than most folks. Sure it’s about that sweet sweet tableau building but those workers are so precious!
Fields of Arle!!!!!!!!!!! Top 5 game of all time for me.
Yaaaassssss
You need to play Le Havre some more haha, good choices and can't wait to try out Tigris when it comes out!
We were back and forth on Le Havre for sure! but we made our Two-Uwe rule and had to stick to it!
We were trying to decide where to draw the line but we’re happy with our list. We’ll probably do a dice placement worker list too in the future
Finally got to try viticulture recently and it was... good, nothing mindblowing but solid. I feel like I missed the hype train on this one :(
I totally agree on Rajas however. That is an amaaazing game
It isn't going to be everyone's favorite, that's the best part about board games, is that we all feel differently about them!
I like Genotype!
Good call!
I want to play Fields or Arle and Feast for Odin so bad
Let’s do eeeeeeeeet
You can start with Caverna or Hallertau. But for me, Caverna is doing the real job and it's not that heavy ruleswise
The Prodigals Son.
“almost assuredly Top Ten!”
Come on, man!
COMMIT! 😜
With an, “assuredly” I’d buy it. Hand hovering over the Order button!
“ASSUREDLY Top Ten”?
Or
“ALMOST assuredly Top Ten”??????
When is Wayfarers of the South Tigris coming out?
Kickstarter says December but they fulfilled the Viscounts expansion Kickstarter 2 months early. So I’m hoping October but I’m not expecting that
I believer the hope/expectation is before the end of the year. So getting close!
Should be this year, Garphill usually fulfills early. But we can't say for certain
@1:37 nick says b hole. Made me laugh
I aim to please
great to wake up to this
Best part of waking uuuuup is some Murphs up in your Cuuuuuuuup
Great to wake up to this comment!
Which game?
@@txsportsfreak02 Palaces of Carrera or Castles of Burgundy based on their videos about them. But maybe that doesn't qualify as worker placement
@@TheBrothersMurph castles of Burgundy and Castles of Carrera :)
Honey Buzz getting more buzz. I’d like to play that. Some typos in your graphics, bros.
Honey Buzz is great! And yeah it happens
Dune imperium!!
Is Raja of the Ganges good at 2 players? I've wanted to get the game for a while but I'm not sure how it plays at 2
Yeah they do a great job of it there’s actually a whole different side of the board for two players to scale the worker placement spots accordingly. Fantastic at two players
1:37 he said "Bee Hole" hehe... he...
I know I am a child.
