I miss Patrick Willis
THE NINERS ARE BACK IN THE SUPER BOWL! ❤️💛
Alex Smith will always be remembered for that post pass.
I remember that run first lol
I’ll never forget Vernon crying after that. That’s the passion that champions are made of.
Terrel Owens did it first against GB
Champions? They didn’t win shit that year
@@johnnywolfdalcour3983
NFCW champions.
I don't make the rules. Just follow em.
@@johnnywolfdalcour3983 haven’t won shit in almost 30. Tired of the York’s and their bullshit
Except he never won a championship
Man Aldon Smith could've legit been the best in history at his spot......
Yeah he could of been a 100 sack guy, a game wrecker. Drugs and booze.....sad.
Hope he heals
Oh well. Can't fix stupid. -Salty Saints fan. (Dude was a beast)
So much talent could've been HOF.... Yet he chose the drink🍻🍷.
It’s such a shame. He was absolutely dominant.
First and only home 49ers game I've ever been to was this game. I was torn between going to this game, or waiting until the NFC championship, but the championship game wasn't guaranteed since the Saints were really tough so i decided to go to this game. Best 49ers game i've ever seen, and arguably one of the greatest games in NFL history. I think I chose correctly!
I would say you chose WISELY as well considering the outcome NFC Championship that year. Definitely more enjoyable this Divisional Game for 49ers Fans.
If I could pick any Niner game to have went to it would've been this one.
Was lucky enough to be at both. Leaving after the giants game was like leaving a funeral. In the rain
Which 49ers-Saints game was better - this 2011 Div Playoff with the Smith-to-Davis The Catch III, or the 2019 Wk14 shootout for post-season home field advantage with both teams at 10-2, with JimmyG outgunning Drew Brees and with Kittle's TRex vs. 3 Velociraptors play (best game of the 2019 season)? Regardless of your pick, the 49ers and the Saints have had some truly classic NFL games.
@@rhmayer1 I think I gotta go with the playoff game since so much was on the line. But that 2019 game was one of the best regular season games i've ever watched!
I’ll never forget this day ! I was there and It was one of the greatest days of my life. The energy In candlestick was out of this world.
It’s crazy how identical the Vernon Davis catch is compared to the TO catch against the packers. They both even cried on the sideline. Deja Vu.
And they were both on 3rd and 3
Rewatching since Alex announced his retirement. Great Ute.... and a true pro's pro at quarterback.
One of the greatest games I watched. I still remember the Saints fans at the bar talking mad $hit after that TD to Graham. Loved their looks of dismay after we scored last!💪🏻
Miss this squad and Harbaugh 😢 BangBang9erGang All Day And Tomorrow
the 2011 49ers were always be special to me....before that year the 49ers were not just bad bt really awful...they set records for worst numbers on offense and Defense...so it was great to see 49ers al of sudden become a great team....if only Ted Ginn Jr didnt get hurt in this game..he would have been the returner in the NFCC against the Giants...and not fumble the ball on those certain plays...this 2011 and the 2019 49ers are my favorite.
Oh man, we don't remember Kyle Williams like we do Montana or Young. We should've been in that Superbowl. The 2011 Niners were special.
@@bretarmstrong6303 The way we think about imagine how Kyle feels
Couldn't agree with you more ted gin was so good in special teams he wouldn't have fumbled he did great his last game when he got injured
Yea man great comment. I remember going 2-14 year before we got Alex smith. Tim Rattay baby!
I was there that day with my dad, my first ever NFL football game! What a time!
My dad and I were in lower box 16, paid $400 each for those tickets. Best day of my life tailgating by the water
@@ninerfan654 Yes it was great, and a beautiful day in the bay.
Chiefs/Bills Divisional game brought me here cuz i never witnessed so many lead changes the last few mins of the game just like this gem here
I’ll always remember. Every saints playoff loss makes me so mad
Y’all ass that’s why
@@jaidenknight2358 Lol, stfu liberal.
@@greysonG10 stfu with politics in general. liberals, conservatives, they're all fucking retarded sheep
@@dopeascopebrother60 100%, sheep that follow the agenda that their political beliefs program them to live by.
@@dopeascopebrother60 In my opinion, liberals are by far the worst between the two. So when I see one trashing on my team, I take extra offense.
Epic! Best game I've seen as a Niner fan.
Casey Lee what about the new 49ers Saints game
@@AndrewL209 i think the new one is better
Not going to lie, that game hurt. But it was a hell of a game by both sides.
As a Niner fan, the one from last year was epic with Jimmy G having a shooting out with Brees and Kittle getting that crazy first down to seal the game.
However, this comeback during the playoffs was epic because of the gravity of the game, you lose you go home you win you advance to the next step to get to the Super Bowl.
How old are you? You sound a bit young for Montana. Did you see the Catch 2? I swear I'm not dogging you, I loved this game too. I'm a leftie, and loved watching Steve Young play. I was glad to watch Alex play too. Unfortunately I'm too young to have watched Montana play. I did watch the first Catch game though on ESPN Classic.
this was one of the best playoff games ever
One of the best games of the decade
Damn the game has changed in a few years , flags all over if this was today
Ok but that helmet hit at 0:45 had to go
Yenice nah it should of been there, thats football
@@yenice3652 nah that’s what makes the sport awesome. The violence factor always made football the best game-sport
@@is8807 it doesn't have to be a helmet collision to be exciting. Take that hit on DK Metcalf yesterday for example. I loved that
I get what you mean 100% though
@@yenice3652 ruclips.net/video/-6QFiDkHfJs/видео.html
Calling Helmet to helmet is understandable in some situations but the softening of the rules has led to shit like this being called
I remember that game! Exhausting!!! Lol... The battle of the TEs was awesome!!!
This was the Saints “Head Hunting “ era. Dangerous front seven. But Alex shined under Harbaugh. He is truly better than he ever gets credit, or support (for that matter). Truly a great 9er.
"Head Hunting" "Bounty"---all a crock of crap. Saints were the CTE scape goat.
One of the Greatest games EVER! 49er Faithful!
I distinctly remember feeling like I'd aged 30 years watching the last 5 minutes of this game live. What an insane rush coming out on top of a game like that. All time classic moment for a franchise full of all time classic moments.
Some poor woman brought her child to sit in front of me at stadium. That kid heard every swear word I know and watched me almost puke on him on that Graham touchdown.
Our new defense reminds me of these days🙏🏻
I miss Justin Smith what a monster
Me too. He is one of my all time favorite players.
the smith brossss
The last men of Candlestick. We shall never see their like again
i remember that throw by Alex Smith the catch 3 i was in 29 palms for pre deployment training it was the one day we were lucky enough to come back in time to listen to this game. I was literally sitting on a dryer while my camies were drying listening to this game on the phone. Was honestly the best moment i had there hahahaa
This is the first game in which I legitimately cried! WHAT A GAME
Same.
I always come back to these highlights best game I’ve ever been to
Not a fan of either team but damn this game was super good
First playoff game I witnessed as a young 49er fan and boy did I watch an all time great!!
This is the game I think about when I think of Alex Smiths career. 49ers pulled the plug on him too soon.
Would’ve been a different story with him starting Super Bowl 47.
Fr
Uh what Smith was benched bc he was holding them back. The novelty of a new dual threat passer is what gave them the boost to a super bowl appearance
@@totoroid negative.
@@totoroid no...kap was great for 2 years don't get me wrong but let's not pretend the Smith was trash and he saved the team...
Man, Im 31 years old. Watched the 49ers during their down seasons when I was younger, and when I witnessed this game, it was super magical and exhilarating. I will never forget this game. Good ass playoff game!!!
Absolute instant classic!!!
That 2011 49er defense was nasty. I'd rather have them play like that.
Dam this was a great team. 49ers looking great this year already
The last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter were just something else...
Anybody who doesn't think special teams are super important, watch this and then watch the Niners have 2 muffed punts at the end of the game next week vs. the Giants. Season changed from contenders to a disappointment on just those 2 muffed punts.
All because Ted Ginn Jr. was hurt...
@@JahNuhThunDeeTheOneAndOnly looking at this game the niners wouldn't have even made it passed the saints if they didn't muff and fumble it multiple times
Post Steve Young 49ers are a disappointment factory.
@@JahNuhThunDeeTheOneAndOnly
All because holding on Crabtree wasn’t called
All because Bowman’s stripping the ball wasn’t called
All because Bosa was held and it wasn’t called
All because Jimmy G was hurt
All because Tartt dropped the interception
All because Trey Lance was hurt
All because Brock Purdy was hurt
True champions find ways to win in spite of things like that.
This was the greatest playoff game of all time I remember what I was doin and where I was wen this game was happening
same. its the most intense game ive ever watched,
Best game start to finish I've ever seen. It was tense like that from the first few minutes.
Dawg as great as this game is, I can’t even watch the highlights as a Saints fan. I just clicked on the video 😰😰
This was one of the sickest games I've ever seen
9 years ago today. Unreal how time flies
Crazy to think, if this EXACT game played in today's NFL, Saints win.
That helmet to helmet hit by Whitner gives the Saints the ball at the 1 yard line and a first and goal. They likely score a TD, 39-36 final.
My family was in Disneyland on that day, we came back to the hotel to watch the game, so we ended up wasting the tickets.
I couldn't bear to watch anymore, and I went out on the balcony. But I could tell who's doing well by the loud cheers from all the surrounding hotels.
This will be my favorite Niners team ever
Mine aswell. I believe if we stayed with Smith during the superbowl run we win that superbowl. Smith was better redzone qb than kap was.
I was so losses when Graham that last td . I thought we was done after that. Even tho we only needed a fg. Hoping for fg to atleast get to over time but the nimers said screw that we going to win this and we had a epic drive and to end it with that post to davis was awesome.. I was in my car driving home from work. And when we scored that td I was jumping up and down in my car. Shouting yea!!!!yea!!! yea !!!!!! Il never forget that moment. And what makes it even more great is that I'm from Louisiana and live in Mississippi. Whole family is saints fans.
Ive never felt more heartache....
This niner defense was something to behold. Donte Hitner was a beast.
What an absolute dime by Alex Smith at 8:57. This was probably the best game of his life and it is downright fun to watch .
Best playoff game of the decade
Best game I ever said on TV as kid coming from a 49ers
So good
This game and packers v cardinals game was both unbelievable.
this game broke my heart
Jim Harbaugh to V.D: "you did it. You f*cking did it son" great run with coach Jim Harbaugh i just wish he came out with a super bowl victory.
It's up to you now Coach Kyle. Lets go NINERS 💪
hearing Gregg audio then watching this match really put thing into perspective... well played 49ers
Same here man
Incredible game
We should’ve won 1 championship with this squad .
I miss this team
It became a hidden rule for opposing teams at Candlestick, don't let the 49ers get to 3rd and 3 with game on the line.... all 3 of "The Catch" came on 3rd and 3.
I cried like a baby for Alex
Saints 49ers always go down to the wire.
God i miss this era man
great classic game arguably best ninner game ever.
“Thomas falls asleep” LMFAOOOO
Might be the best defense we have ever had and I took it for granted! Everyone on the defense was punishing someone! Rushing 3 and still being able to get pressure is insane! Justin Smith just drove that dude into Brees what a fucking animal 😂
Man these highlights are so much more hard hitting than today's games in the playoffs, there's so many hits that would be called penalties.
Harbaugh at the end talkin' to Vernon Davis looked like he was ready to take a chunk out of his ear Tyson style! 🤣
before this game future performed classic song “Tony Montana” 🔥👀
It still hurts
The catch III is Jeff Garcia to Tai Streets (2002 NFC wild card)
My son in law kept saying in the forth quarter, wow, wow, wow, every time the fortyniners scored ❤😊
I was at this game l. Epic finale. Justin Smith Willis Gore they deserved to see that championship.
I miss these days
I remember watching this game at Garden City, before it became the M8trix!
3:18 young kaepernick
Before he ruined nfl and Nike
@Crusader Knght for kneeling? Ok boomer
@@WarPigs413Yet he almost won the superbowl for yall. he did better then Jimmy G
@@ML-hl1uh no, for turning the ball over three times in the 4th quarter in the 2013 NFC Championship Game
@@downs3627 no he didn't. Delanie Walker was open on 3rd down and randy moss was open on second down in the endzone in the superbowl during the last series.
Love this throwback and this game was lit!!!
I loved it
Back when ball was played with REAL heart. Back when it was played with the soul.
Alex Smith, Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, Patrick Willis, Aldon Smith- probably the last great Niners team until 2023.
2012,2013,2019,2021,2022???😂
9:07 Vernon Davis’ TD catch is the most well-known play from this game but people forget just how mobile Alex Smith was in his prime.
Nobody forgot.
And that Niner defense was one of the best recent defenses I witnessed. I'm a Steeler fan BTW but that 2011 Niner defense was a machine. Didn't they go like the entire 2011 season without allowing a rushing TD? Maybe they allowed 1 or 2 the entire year but they were dominant.
@@nick56677 They allowed 2 rushing TDs all year-and the man who broke the no rushing TDs allowed streak was none other than Marshawn Lynch.
I was there. My photo is from the stands that day.
I believe this is the second best postseason win by our 49ers, after 2002 win against NY Giants. My favorite players of the game were Alex Smith & Vernon Davis. In this game Vernon Davis was as good as Terrell Owens in 2002 game against Giants. I’m really glad that he got retired with a ring unlike Owens and Smith.
My grandson and myself were going crazy ,and my son in law saying wow .
Damn, that lost just pissed me off all over again 😅
0:53 Prayin for you man.
Saints literally fumbled away the game, and in storybook fashion the 49ers fumbled the game to the Giants the very next week.
It’s amazing the fact that the Saints had a chance to win the game after giving the ball away to the 49ers 5 times. That game should have been out of sight by the 3rd Quarter.
Instant classic
alex smith played an incredible game. 3td passes and 1 rushing td. I think had they stuck with him they win the superbowl against the ravens. kap was better but in that bowl he over and under threw alot of wide open guys.
Way back when there was no personal foul flags thrown for these bangers. 0:52
I’m glad they call them now
0:58 I love that 10-15 years ago, this was a "good hit." Now this would be called targeting every time.
Wow I just realized how much I miss seeing Jimmy Graham in a Saints uniform
You just like his tight end.
It’s niner team was the most physical football team I might’ve seen in the modern nfl. Only rosters close are the same era seahawks and the ravens from a few years earlier
Fred, TRIVIA TIME, the C on your chest is inspiring off the field. Do you know how many of our former players have been inspired to become Captains on their new teams? When you know the standard of excellence isn’t met, you work harder to lead others in a different way, because you know its possible. What’s the next level look like Fred?
Alex Smith should make the 49ers hall of fame or retired jersey or something he was a solid qb for years
Most painful loss for me as kid
VD balled out this game
I like this current era more. I loved them in the early 2010s, but current era more heart and I think can close.
I left after the Saints scored on the 2pt conversion 🤦♂️ All I heard from the parking lot was roaring and cheering lol
This defense was one of the best Niner Defenses ever assembled.
