  • The month of July has broken plenty of weather records, and may go down as the hottest month in recorded history. For author Jeff Goodell, the extreme weather colliding with the release of his new book, "The Heat Will Kill You First" is no coincidence: He has been writing and warning about climate change for the past 20 years. Jeff Glor has more.

What was the Little Ice Age Climate Period from the 14th to 19th Centuries and Why Do We Care?
    March 9, 2022
DESCRIPTION: Before the 20th century, from about 1400 AD to 1900 AD, glaciers were larger and climate was much colder than present. This period is known as the Little Ice Age in Europe and North America, and studying it might help us learn about present climate changes.
Presenter: Mike Kaplan, Lamont Research Professor, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory

Well, it is cool in Chicago. We had about three days of low 90s.I did not even turn on the AC, because it was cool enough at night to moderate the heat in the house. I just looked at the forecast for August and it was all low 80s, with 60s at night. Very comfortable.
As for heat killing you first, well the statistics do not bear that out. Many more people die from cold than heat around the world.

I have now seen this falsity on nearly every such report. Probably by a fossil fuel agent or a person not thinking. Not only more die by heat but increasing extremes mean more die by cold, by water so drowning, by hurricane, by sea level rises killing agriculture so indirectly people et al.
