You can't do a proper service without a Flue Gas Analyser. Only guessing without one. FGA needs to be re-calibrated every year. Pump pressure needs to be correct for the fuel - i.e. about 9 bar for Kerosene C2 28 second oil - which is all modern condensing boilers are supposed to run on. Nozzle should be changed once a year and flexible oil line on condition. The nozzle must be the correct spray angle, spray pattern and flow-rate for the fuel and burner rating. Boiler flue needs to be up to normal operating temperature when taking the FGA readings. Baffle plates and combustion chamber need to be cleaned out completely. That's just the boiler - the storage tank also needs inspection.

    Hi
I have a WarmGlow BlueBird 70/90 Burner that worked for Years that worked for years but stopped working last year. When i tried restarting it recently ,The Power kept tripping. The front panel of the Burner had a Lock at the Bottom of it.When i went to take the front panel off the key was nowhere to be found so i drilled the lock. I Checked the Tank and it was half full. Next , I checked the power going to the Pump ,it was ok, I checked the power going to the Burner that was ok. I checked the tank in the attic and that Tank was full. The situation at the momeNt is ,The Burner is working , But the Radiators are not heating up. I would be extremely grateful for any advice /Help available
    Kind Regards
    Peter.

hi we have a firebird oil boiler and we have it serviced each year, the flu was reseasled this year and all the efficiency tests flu gas etc are fine. On initial start up as the boiler purges, we get a slight wiff of fuel oil and this will happen each time it starts up. any ideas, we had new seals fitted to the burner cover as well but certainly the problem is around initial purge and ignite, a lot of people say you may get a slight smell but as I have never had an oil burner I have no Idea, the engineer is back out and I have mentioned a number of things, ignition time, photocells etc and asked him to spend as long as he must as I want it to be safe.

mines a danfoss pump on an old nu way boxer burner-it sounds similar to this but a change of solinoid has not worked-it goes to fire up and then it sounds like a back draft and can get quite smoky but no ignition? any ideas welcome?

Nobody bothers their arse getting a proper service done, with all these procedures, they only call you when the boiler/burner stops working, at that stage it's usually too late and the burner needs replacing, people don't give a shit once there's heat, what they don't realise is they are probably using 25% more fuel when the equipment is not properly maintained, iv seen boilers so full of soot and crap that you have to scoop it out, the blast tube burned down to nothing, leaking oil lines, crumbling flues, boilers outside in bits covered in whatever is around, as I say they only call you when they stop.

I've a firebird that hasn't worked since the day it was installed. I live in a council house and we are NOT ALLOWED to touch it. We have to call out the council to repair it. Every time they come out they clean the filter and walk away. Runs maybe for a day or two and packs in again. It's not that people don't give A SHIT. Not in this case anyway. But then again it's only 17 YEARS since I reported mould and Cavan County Council still haven't dealt with it.

Subtitles would be good in this instance. RUclips subtitles don't work. It thinks solenoid is sunlight for example!
