Great video mate - the Offset Point function is a really useful one. One point though is that DMS is Display Management Switch, not Data ... but I suspect you know that by now! Cheers.
I have used the viper as my main aircraft never really bothered with A/G when I first started, starting learning it recently, this video explains some things I didn't quite understand especially the target store function which I didn't even know existed, very good overall I wont lie
@@MamboDCS so funny enough the LITENING pod actually has more funtionability and versatility than the sniper pod does. This is from a real world standpoint so I have no idea how it will be in game.
Hello, you made a great job with this tutorial but i have some trouble to do some of the things explained here in my F16. I can't make multiple target as you show it to us. I aim at the target, push DMS right then STP button, do the same for second and third target. The problem is, when i do the same on the second target, the TGP don't came back to the first target, it goes on the ground, some meters away from second target. In your video, you say "aim at it, edit, then push DMS right and STP button" (if i hear correctly). How do you "edit"? I can't see where you explain that in the vid. Also, the button "STP" appear only in NAV mode, it does not work in AG mode. Thank you.
Really good tutorial, thanks for the effort. Would you say the TMS switch or DMS switch is more important? Just so I know which to bind to an easy to reach switch and the other to a slightly less convenient one.
TMS for sure - it is what you're using to direct all the different sensors. You use all 4 directions for both A-G and A-A. DMS primarily selects which screen you want to interact with and changes screens. There's more to DMS but answering your question... clearly make TMS the most accessible if you have to choose. Assume you are using T16000M stick! When I had that, the thumb on stick was TMS. I assigned DMS to one of the throttle thumb hats.
@@keithbriscoe99 Thanks, I realised that quite a while ago. You don't want to be fiddling about with a hard to reach Hat switch, when an enemy has already locked and launched at you!
Mambo, what's the correct lasing time to start lasing with the GBU-24? GBU 12 and 10s are 8-15 sec until impact via USAF manuals. I ask bc when u Lase early the trajectory changes with GBU and could cause issues...
I don't have the exact time, but I know for fact that it's more than the GBU-10 and 12. And I've heard real pilots mention that it's a longer time. But the exact number might be classified, I'm not sure. To play it safe, I recommend doing so shortly after dropping the bomb. The GBU-24 is a lot smarter than the Paveway IIs, so that probably helps it.
How to switch between the two TGP modes? There is a screen that i see T G P on the side under the CZ button, and there is a screen with the S T P under the CZ button
@@MamboDCS Awesome. I am now learning the viper and I really like your explenation. Very clear and great attention to detail. I will follow the whole series
So i can’t get my tgp to spi to a target with the offset aimpoints like u say select the target tms right press the button for the next oa repeat till ive used all 3 then when i cycle them their all over the place
How do you tell where it's looking at? Every video says it's the square on the HUD or HMD but when I put the square over a target my video is way way off
Has something changed since this video? If I click 'CZ' to reset the view it only flashes and nothing changes. I'm sat on the ground trying to work this out and its pointed of somewhere and I can't seem to bring it back. I click CZ hoping to reset but it won't. I don't get the SP option back either.
First check that your controls setup is done correctly as shown in the video. Also make sure you've SOI'ed the screen the TGP is on and then try moving it around. If that doesn't work try pressing TMS Right while the screen the TGP is on is SOI'ed to put the TGP into area track and then try moving it. Let me know how it goes :)
It works basically the same way. STP shows when your in NAV mode and TGT when you're in A-G mode. You can treat it exactly the same way :) Sorry for not being 100% clear about this!
Hi very helpful tutorial. I have a question, what happens when I press TMS down only once (twice will cz)? I notice that the crosshairs become "bigger" but idk what that means. Thanks
Beginner myself I am studying F-16C on daily basis so do not take it for granted, but if I am not mistaken TMS Down once should “Reject the Target”, meaning if you TMS Up to select one TMS Down (once) deselects it.
How do I know the difference between sp-sensor point and sp-snow plow? In fact, it’s a bit confusing. It starts with saying CZ is centre zero and takes you to bore sight/straight ahead. Then it says so is sensor point, which is whatever sensor is being used, usually waypoint. Then it says CZ takes you to the waypoint selected. Then it says when you press CZ a new button sp (aka sensor point, which was already there) appears called snow plow. So now sensor point is snow plow. So I’m confused if sp is sensor point or snow plow. I’m sure the designers of the f-16 would not confuse the pilot by having a control that is on the same location and with the same identifier. In fact, this is a primary handling requirement in aviation.
Yo i like the function of the offset aimpoints but i think this doesnt work anymore. If ur in AG mode STP will be TGT and in NAV mode it doesnt react at all. U just can see how the cross in TGP is getting bigger. Would be cool to have a resolution for that, maybe im using the TGP wrong.
