Well I'm glad they didn't because I can't imagine the future of resident evil without Chris so it was definitely a better move for piers to sacrifice himself which perfectly motivates Chris to never give up and let loss get the better of him.
Piers was a good side character. Both him and Sheva Alomar were great teammates to Chris. I don’t like how Capcom just tossed them to the side… It would have been awesome to see Jill, Sheva, Piers, and Chris team up again after 6. That would have solidified his main partners. While for Leon it would be Claire, Ada, and Helena

RE6 is a garbage fire game, and among its myriad of problems, Piers dying when it should have been Chris (again) was a big one. I am a relatively new RE fan, but from stances of storytelling vs marketing, it is obvious that CapCom wanted to maintain a character whose name had more staying power rather than effectively passing the torch to the next "young and capable STARS agent".

Chris and piers are pretty much like Marcus and Dom from gears of war and it's so good and hopefully Piers somehow survived and the virus mutated within his body thus allowing him to control it and will return to aid his brother in arms and become another successful superhuman with extraordinary abilities like Jill Sherry Jake ada and Wesker.
yes, i agree, Piers & Dom died protecting their brothers in arms Piers died because he knew he was gonna die otherwise, so he went out a hero to the B.S.A.A Dom died because he his family is dead and the only one member left was Marcus, so he went out a hero to the C.O.G both deaths of Dom & Piers are sad (Dom's death was even more sad, and i refused to skip the cutscenes because their both wholesome characters, caring about their friends)
I love how RE6 actually had a great stake with Piers. But at the same time, it’s quite disappointing since he’s really a great candidate to replace Chris in the future. Great build up in just one game, like Sheva.

There is nothing dumber than to poke a phone in the face of a person suffering from amnesia, depression and alcoholism, send him to a war zone as a squad leader, and then criticize him in front of his subordinates, breaking the chain of command. Throughout the story, he finds fault with others and takes offense whenever his actions are criticized. The last thing he did was disobey an order. As a result he died. An elite military academy? Really? In the real world, such a soldier would not even be accepted into the Boy Scouts.
He died as a real solider who protected and let chris live you can say what you want about piers but piers will always be the hero along with fin and the other soliders tol
