Maybe 3 weeks ago....there were a couple of different videos on RUclips that were short mashups of 'Footloose'....set against one of those Seattle protestors, right as he threw a molotov cocktail....setting his own feet on fire. Set to the beat of the music, it was hilarious. Just do a SEARCH for 'Footloose antifa protestor'. Anything like that. You'll find them.
Professionals. They probably never before played this song together then after 2 minutes they play it like it was no big deal. Big smiles all around. Must be nice to love your job and it involves making great music.
The whole episode with Kenny Loggins is hilarious. He's so bossy and alpha. Daryl remains the perfect host as his guest begins stressing out and ordering his band around and stressing out some more. Kenny casually name-drops the three huge movies he made soundtracks for (Footloose, Top Gun and Caddyshack) and brags that he almost did Flashdance except he had broken ribs or something. To his credit, Daryl doesn't take the bait and start listing his platinum records/sales figures. My absolute favorite moment is at the end of "This Is It" when KL notes that it is a complicated song and that he originally thought it might be hard for his host to play/sing, "but then I remembered [who's House I was in.]" And after all that, it is amazing how much of my life had a soundtrack provided by these two silver foxes. Glad I got to see them play together. Cheers!
I saw both Kenny and Hall & Oates back in the 70s when they were just starting to get really big. Kenny had the wildest energy and danced all over the stage! He was fantastic! Hall & Oates - what can I say? Absolutely perfect in everything they did. Unbelievable live! God those were great times!
Forgot to mention something.... "This is it" was played in the locker room of the SF 49ers during their first Super Bowl game in 1981. They were playing the Bengals, and were ahead at halftime but had made mistakes. Bill Walsh played this song to get the players fired up. "This is it! You're going no further" the song says. The words were inspiring and the Niners went on to win their first Super Bowl- the first of 4 in a decade.
I was lucky. I was going to the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in the 80s and our campus was right in the city. On Wednesday's we had the afternoon free so a group of us went to see this at about 1pm. Came out of the cinema dancing our way down Swanston Street to the train station at Flinders Street. People looked at us like we were insane! Such a great movie, a great bunch of friends who I am still mates with, 36 years after we met on the first day of class. Did some crazy things together including singing Bohemian Rhapsody on a tram(no music) to applause from the rest of the passengers to sitting up all night watching Live Aid. Love you guys and love you Jamal for bringing back the memories.
Musicians are THE BEST people to hang out with. So glad I dedicated 25 years of my life in that world. Loggins and Messina's "Your Mamma Can't Dance and Your Daddy Don't RocknRoll" is a great song.
It is so fun to see how the pull it together. It isn't always perfect but it always fun. It shows how much work goes into getting the songs we love out. I always love the language of music. They speak it to each other and they just get it.
Was just visiting with Daryl and Joe and Ceelo at his house about an hour ago. Saw Kenny, but didn't watch him..Thx for this. Ain't nothin but exellence that comes outta this house! Real music by real musicians.
Sandra Smith I love the episode with Ce Lo. I’m seriously addicted to all of the episodes. The one in memory of Tom T-bone Wolk is a very moving tribute to the man who played bass for Hall and Oats. The later episodes have his poster in the wall. See....I know way to much 😬

I grew up in Florida and walked the beach every day until middle school. I decided to live with my Granny and finish high school in her little tiny town in north Louisiana. The schools were so big in St. Augustine back in 1969. Pleasant Hill (Louisiana) had 300 kids in grades K-12. I couldn’t resist. The Baptist in town ran everything so when I made it to the time for my Jr/Sr Prom, we ate at a catfish restaurant. NO DANCING!!! Love this song, love the crazy memories, too.
You would not BELIEVE how fast the dance floor filled at a Disco when this song came on back in the day! :) Chaos and pandemonium is what it was! What a great time to be 19! :)
I love watching professional (or just good, experienced) musicians behind the scenes. You know they make it look so easy figuring out a part and how it's played, then just bouncing along. And the people who play and sing are amazing, I'm usually concentrating too hard on playing correctly to sing at all.
I got to play harmonica with Kenny and Chris Rdriguez in Portland in front of 100,000 people in '93, and I have to say he is one of the nicest people I have ever dealt with in 50 years of playing. That was the 2nd time he ask me to sit in in Oregon. My mind was totally blown.
Hey Jamel. I met Kenny Loggins and his wife Julia at a resort I was working at in Hawaii. His son Lukas was about 1 yr old at the time(He's 27/28 now). They were the nicest and most gracious couple and their baby boy was the happiest child I had ever met. No airs of celebrity about them. They let me walk their son around the whole dining room(it was big)while they had their dinner. I have never forgotten them. So great to see you react to Daryl and Kenny at the same time. This was a treat!
So glad you got to see the discussion before the song. Most of the full LFDH episodes show some of the planning before every song, as well them eating and talking. The really early ones also show Daryl and the guest(s) cooking, too.

Daryl Hall and John Oates did a best hits album in 1983 called Rock 'N Soul Part 1. All of the songs but 2 were classics. Now these 2 are well known: Say It Isn't So and Adult Education. Don’t forget other Kenny Loggins Soundtrack songs: I’m Free, also from Footloose. I’m All Right, Make The Move, from Caddyshack. Danger Zone from Top Gun.
Yea these are awesome. Among my favorites is the episode with Jason Mraz. I met Jason once, and he is the nicest guy. The song is "I Won't Give Up", and its the best version of that song I've ever heard. Even Darryl at the end is pumped about how great they did together.

Yasss! I've been waiting for this! Kenny Loggins is a highly underrated singer/songwriter, and I just loved him! I honestly took a picture of him into my hairdresser to get my hair cut like his back in the 80's. 🤣 Maybe touch on some of his Loggins and Messina stuff (Angry Eyes, Your Mama Don't Dance, Vahevala, House at Pooh Corner, Danny's Song).
Angry Eyes--one of the longest, most intense jams ever. Can't imagine what that would sound like with the gifted musicians in the rarified sound quality that is Darryl's House!
I received my “peace out” t-shirt yesterday and I absolutely loveeee it!!! To bad there wasn’t a place we could all upload pictures of ourselves with Jamel’s shirts on!!!
Big big fan of Daryl's House. Loved this one especially as it was with my man Kenny Loggins. And I'm also a massive fan of the Film 📼 Footloose. I'm a 80s nut. Loved how they were all syncing up at the start. And I just thought those guys are masters at what they do. Great one Jamel. ✌️. . Jon.

You play so much awesome music, you have become my favorite channel on RUclips. Thanks for keeping it alive!!
Yea these are awesome. Among my favorites is the episode with Jason Mraz. I met Jason once, and he is the nicest guy. The song is "I Won't Give Up", and its the best version of that song I've ever heard. Even Darryl at the end is pumped about how great they did together.
That was an excellent movie. The music was great!
Kenny Loggins is a great songwriter! Incredible artist. Daryl and Kenny together..dynamite! 🎼🎶🎵♥️
Extraordinario, profesionales totales.

You have to remember that It's Daryl's house. These people have never played with Kenny Loggins before. they're doing this on the fly
Yasss! I've been waiting for this! Kenny Loggins is a highly underrated singer/songwriter, and I just loved him! I honestly took a picture of him into my hairdresser to get my hair cut like his back in the 80's. 🤣
Maybe touch on some of his Loggins and Messina stuff (Angry Eyes, Your Mama Don't Dance, Vahevala, House at Pooh Corner, Danny's Song).
Angry Eyes--one of the longest, most intense jams ever. Can't imagine what that would sound like with the gifted musicians in the rarified sound quality that is Darryl's House!
Everything was always so great at daryls house.
Kenny Loggins. GENIUS Daryl Hall. MUSICAL . Together they making Music baby!!!!!!!
I received my “peace out” t-shirt yesterday and I absolutely loveeee it!!! To bad there wasn’t a place we could all upload pictures of ourselves with Jamel’s shirts on!!!
Love this song! Love Daryl's house.....so much great talent!!!
Such a cool jam sess at Daryl's house!
✌️. . Jon.
Kenny Loggins: "I'm Alright" Darryls House Caddy Shack
Cameramen never give the bass players love. That chorus bass line is fire! Kenny's still got it! Nice reaction Brother J.
Nothing like live and great recording to knock it out of the park
Footloose - Footloose
I'm Alright - Caddyshack
Danger Zone - Top Gun
Kenny Loggins was CRUSHING it with the movie theme songs in the 80s.
