    I know the video is old but Irwin makes an awesome set of extraction sockets for those rounded bolt heads. we used them in the shop and they're very essential for these sorta jobs. Other brands make them as well now but if you don't have a set already definitely look them up! great video man 🤙

      I will have to pick up a set for sure, thank you for the info!

    "The struggle" can be avoided if you put a couple bolts in first to hold the alignment for the dust shield.

    The handle from the jack for a breaker, that’s genius

    You're lucky.. I've never had a hub bearing that didn't need to be beaten off with a mini sledge for 20 min. Thx for the vid, I'm back rocking n rollin

    I've never seen a bearing come off so ridiculously easy. It usually takes an act of God to beat or press one of these off. Use some never seize on the flange and race when putting the new one on for the next guy. And maybe it'll come off without an hour of beating.

    Hey Mitch I know this is an older video but I just went through the same thing you had on your passenger side, where did you order the new bolts from? I have the bolt extractor but I’m concerned about where I’m gonna find the replacement bolts. Thanks

      Sorry for the late reply, I actually picked them up from O’reilly’s P#917-519 Thankfully they were in stock.

    How did you end up getting the bolts off? Extraction sockets? I know you can buy the bolts at most parts stores or straight from the service center at a local GM dealer. Im just trying to get prepared in case my dumb$% rounds off the bolts. 🤣

    I just replaced my left front wheel bearing and had the problem with 2 of the bolts holding the bearing housing. I ended up using a cutting torch to remove the bearing housing where the bolts were rounded. This bearing had been replaced once before. I personally would recommend replacing the 4 bolts as it may save time in the future if you need to replace the bearing again.

    Jus hd a hub break back to back and im seeing that hub nut keeps lossening. I baught a new one but it would only threat about a 1/4 to 1/2 way before geting super tight so i didnt force it much further. Is that normal for a new nut? And i hear the rado has whats called a torque to yeid nut basically a one time tighten typa deal?but i did torque everything down to spec btw

    • @MitchCarveth
      @MitchCarveth  2 года назад +1

      Sorry for the late reply, sounds to me like the thread pitch on the new nut is incorrect or something with the treads is up. I haven't heard of the nut being yield to torque but literally everything else GM uses is so would not surprise me lol with that being said I haven't had any issues with reusing the same nut in the past.

    If you put the bakes back on you can put a screw driver in the ton of the brake rotor between the brake caliper to stop the bearing from spinning to tighten the axel nut

    What size was that cv nut on the bearing?

  • @derekdyce8572
    @derekdyce8572 10 месяцев назад

    to all of those tackling this job, factory axle nut size is 34mm from 08 onward. hopefully this saves someone a trip to the hardware store with their truck torn apart.

    • @MitchCarveth

      34mm from 08 on, your welcome to Google it, every time I post the link RUclips deletes my comment. only exception would be aftermarket axles

      @MitchCarveth I'm honestly not trolling, I literally just did wheel bearings on my 13 lml and both sides were 34mm, both sides factory axles. as I said you are more than welcome to Google search. every result I find says 34 mm past 2007

      @@derekdyce8572 I’ve done this job myself on multiple trucks. it’s a 36mm I’m pretty positive even the 1500s are a 36mm as well.
