Catching HUGE Catfish in the Backwaters of a FLOODED CREEK
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 сен 2024
- I fished a new spot on South Chickamauga Creek, this time much closer to the mouth of the creek. Water was still high and muddy. Within the first ten minutes I brought in a nice 10-12 blue catfish. After an hour of nothing, my reel was screaming. I brought in a catfish in the low 30's, followed by two other big brutes in the 30 lb range. I love fishing the creek when the conditions are right for the big catfish to move in.
When: September 30, 2018
Where: Chickamauga Creek (Chattanooga, TN)
Time: 9:30am - 12:30pm
Conditions: High, muddy, moderate to fast current
Bait: Cut skipjack
Tackle: Medium Heavy 8' American Spirit Nite Stick rod with an Okuma Classic XT CLX-300 L baitcaster levelwind reel spooled with 30 lb monofilament line with a 80 lb monofilament leader down to a Team Catfish 8/0 double action circle hook (carolina rigged)
Method: Bank fishing from a dock

AWESOME thats my kind of fishing right there, cant beat a flooded creek, Great fish Joe.
Thanks man!
Tight lines!
It was awesome 😮
You and me both!!!!
Yeah you can beat it nothing beats a flooded catfish pond
“ guys he has my grippers “ 🤣 had a feeling it was going to happen
Lol.
Yeah almost rip
“Guys he has my grippers” lol I thought that was hilarious!!
Haha. Almost lost those grippers.
Has a wrist strap for a reason i guess lol
"Fish on! Gotta let you go"! Click! Lol
South chickamuga creek. It's a very good creek to fish. I live 25 mins away from where your fishing at currently
Wheres this at
I'd contest your estimate, partner, that cat, at 10:22, is an easy 45 pounder, EASY! 45 pounder. Enjoying your show, Would love to be there with you and pulling them in....on a "Catch & Release" only, those big heifers can stock a river in less than 6 months, each one of them. Thank's for sharing. BTW, you got a 'like', sub, and a click on the bell, bring more big lunkers in for us! lol.
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely STUNNING. Very nice catfishes you caught ☺. Great to watch your clip. Greets from Heidelberg Germany 👍
Thanks for watching! Tight lines!
Thanks for catching and releasing, cause that just leaves more fish for me to eat.... Thank you
Haha this guy....
@@MrKiet76 Haha this guy...

I love these videos my dad was from Chattanooga Tennessee and I remember fishing Chickamauga dam. Thanks for the videos
That was a great day fishing, three in the 30s. Your videos are always great to watch. Thanks again 🇺🇸
Thank you!
Patriot catfisher hahaha
"FISH ON, i'm going to let you go BUH BYE!!" Love that, thats like the line we all use when talking to our significant other!!! Great video man as always!!!
Haha. Exactly!
How can u leave? I don’t have the self control to walk away from 30 pound plus blues lol 😂
We had a pretty heavy rain come in after that fourth fish. The bite went dead after that.
How can he release that's good eating
@@countryboys8406 Catfish over 10 don't taste as good as smaller fish. In addition Mercury levels sky rocket after that weight
@Easily Amused yes
@Easily Amused yes some people still eat them large but most don't due to mercury being out there, most ppl catch those big boys an throw them back, I've seen cat fish bigger than humans come to the top of water near Lake Murray Dam in Columbia, South Carolina pretty scary mane
HOLY MOLEY!! HOLY MOLEY!! Lol could make drinking game out the many times he says that and “grippers” lmao
LOL!
Be prepared by tying off your rods w/a long length of paracord. You can still fish your rods, but a fish won't steal them.
Hell yeah ,fishin' in socks 😂, great videos bro
LOL!
Thanks for watching!
You seem to be type of dude I'd have a beer with 👍
Cheers!
Truly enjoyed the fishing adventure of the 3 brutes...
That was a good day!
Amazing mate good fishing and good care of the fish from England me would love to come there and try that out
Thanks for watching!
This was so awesome amazing catches and they were all real good sized fish. Fishing flooded creeks is always some hot action!!!!
It was a great day!
Thanks for watching and tight lines!
I have no issue with legal catch and keep for food, but I am so glad that you let that fish go. It deserved to be released.
That gives Andrew more chances to catch and cook! Haha
Congrats Joe, great job on those big blues!!! I love it brother man!!
Thanks for watching!
Tight lines man!
Catches and cooking catfish is on my bucket list. Look forward to going down to the United States for that purpose. No catfish, no bass, no Croppie. Although there is nothing wrong in the different varieties of wild caught salmon or a big halibut!
I've never caught a halibut. I heard those fish are good eating!
Ronald i love the wild caught salmon and halibut. I used to catch halibut in Califoina off the Huntington Beach pear.
Always love watching your videos.
Thanks for watching!
When fishing for big fish on piers you can "tie" down your pole with a quick release knot. I would suggest you looking at some videos so you don't lose a nice pole. Or just even a simple rope with a snap at both ends will also work. Simple effective and light weight
Thanks for the tip.
I have couple of bank rigs I use. Made with 2 two gallon buckets quick Crete and 3 inch PVC. Works great on docks.

Glad that spot produced.

I’d be in trouble for not bringing that kinda size fish home
Catfish over 10 don't taste as good as smaller fish. In addition Mercury levels sky rocket after that weight.
@ItzMikeOmg I beg to differ, I've eaten several that were given to me and they tasted great. I baked them with some seasoned salt and corn meal breading and my family loved it. Tasted just as good as a 5 pounder.
@@carll.freemanjr.9867 of course you're from the south....you probably have mercury poisoning lmao
thesmartoneification Ah yes because if you live somewhere else you have mercury poisoning. Grow up will you?
Great video! Huge catfish, bet your arms were burning. Good tips too. I had to forward this to my buddies. Happy fishin from West Tennessee.
It was a great day! Thanks for watching!

Those are healthy fish there were not all torn up or beat up don't forget to put you're hands in the rope on you're fish grips that a keep you from losing you're fish grips
That was a lesson learned. I'll remember next time.

Wow I was just thinking have you ever lost your grippers to a catfish and you all most did it.... Lol
Yeah that was close.
Thanks for today, it made me feel good that you came in. I hate I didn’t put a fish in the boat while you were there. I did catch 1 live though. Keep up the great work you do for the Catfish world.🇺🇸
It was good talking with you for a little bit.
I'm looking forward to cooler weather. The start to the Fall season has been very hot. It seems like the catfish are still in summer mode.

I guess u fish for sport man...if i go for cat fish im fishin for food bro
If I'm bringing any fish home it's usually crappie.
I'll say that cat would make for some good fried fish.
Wys
Dang son catchin some sockers outta that creek ...great vid .
That was a great day! Thanks for watching!
Nice fish! Bring your scale and do a 5 fish bag. What’s your best?
Biggest fish is pushing 100 lbs.
I love those Okuma reels. I picked up half a dozen in different sizes when I found them on Amazon for $28 each. They hold up to sizzling runs from high current Lake Sturgeon here in Wisconsin. I have them on Rippin Lips rods. Great rigs for inspiring confidence!
28 for a decent reel? I wouldn't of ever thought it.
You should start a beast catfish pond
That would be epic!
I agree with this dude. Catching monsters every day out of your back yard would be the best thing ever.
Not even to fish bro just keep em in a pond and hand feed em feed em live Bait just make em apart of the family😂
@hugo fuentes shove it.
@Hugo Fuentes far from a kid my guy and ill leave the playing in ponds thing to you kid fetch me some Bait I'm finna hit the lakes

thanks you too
That was pretty epic . I would have wanted to stay all day and night . Great video ,thanks for sharing it . Why would someone give it a thumbs down .Must have been members of team zebco 202 .
That was a good day of fishing! Thanks for watching!
Sorry I saw the line poundage cheers
It's not there for the fish (the rod can probably only pull 5lb or so), it's there for abrasion resistance - so you don't get gut off and leave fish with hooks in them
SO happy for you! Nice fishing!
Thanks for watching!
For all of you who are asking “ why aren’t you eating the fish that you catch “
Well some fisherman want there to actually be fish in the water and some people don’t like eating big fish because that’s not what they believe in
All I am asking is don’t be that person who eats every fish they catch it ruins the sport !!!
Sthu
CHILL
From what I’ve heard I don’t think they taste well at that size.
It's called having fun u can eat it but not the big ones they reproduce better then the younger ones and u have to give the og fish respect.
I would most likely keep one smaller fish, I think it would be tasty but I totally agree with you.
You're my type of fishermen I don't have no type of water or anything stop me do your thing man good job
Thanks for watching!
Muddy flooded creek is the best for big catfish! great video.
It was awesome. Thanks for watching and tight lines!
I didn't want this video to end that was some good cat fishing.

Chickamauga has some amazing Blue Catfish. I caught one last year that was 55 maybe pushing 60lbs. Just look up “Levi Saffles WBIR catfish” and you will find it. Good luck guys and tights lines

Thanks, Doug! Catfish Dave recently caught a nice 45 lb blue! It was a GREAT fish!
I get so jealous when I watch ur videos!!
It can be quite the rush when a big one hits. Hope you catch some good ones. Tight lines!
The best fishing I do is in feeder creeks when they are up from rain.. I've found the best around here is when the water is on the rise and 3/4 to full bank about to flood.. non stop action my friend.. anything you throw they eat..
Yes, the bite can be on FIRE!!
Beautiful fish let's go a release them. Much Reapect!!
Thanks for watching!
Them cats love that muddy water when ever it floods in Texas around San Antonio I head to the river cause you know it's going to be good fishing. Good job on catching those giants.
Thanks for watching!
the okuma clx 300 reels are solid , workhorse of a reel definitely!
I love my Okumas!
@@ChattCats I've always been an Abu 6500 fan but the okumas are steadily gaining ground with me after three years of gard fishing with them they are definitely the best bang for your buck! I wonder if they have parts for them , but really at 40 bucks who cares buy a new one . Great vids bud jeep them comming!
that is a non stop action, well done
Thanks! It was a crazy day!
A lot of fun watching a great day of catfishing.

Wow them are huge blues I am about to go fishing in the river tomorrow night and I wanna catch a blue like that good job 👏 love the vid keep it up !!!!
Good luck out there!

Thanks
Damm those were all huge catches at a small location!! AWESOME!! 👌
It was a great day! Thanks for watching!
"Babe let me let you go . FISH ON ! Let me let you go , bye bye . " Sounds like a conversation i've had with my girl many times lol .
Lol.
Nice video! I used to get laughed at all the time growing up fishing with heavy gear in small creeks till i popped a 38 lb flat head and backed it up a week later with a 30 lb one when i was 15. Creeks hold big fish and dont get alot of pressure.
Flatheads fight so hard! Nice catch!
Great job, enjoyed this video...👍
Thanks for watching!
Dude don’t throw them back! Invite us over for a fish fry! Lol 😋
Hey Joe
In my experience you are better off landing big fish like this with the grippers. Sometimes the net can injure their pectoral fins if they roll. Great fishing by the way. Love to let them go and watch them swim away.
That's a good point!
Always a good feeling when they swim away.
Wow what an awesome day of fishin congrats on your pb creek blue
Thanks, Joe! Tight lines!
Great film ! I really enjoy the trembling water and the struggling fish. Most river are polluted and the fishes caught are not edible. Hope this creek is not so !
It seems good.
I live in Soddy Daisy and know exactly where you are fishing. If you know where Soddy Creek is where it dumps into the river make hard left and run about 2 miles you'll hit the cliffs. Huge blue cats along there. 40 50 pounders using jugs. Also Suck Creek has some biggins also.
Awesome!
Like always great video im still hunting for monsters down here in GA
Catch a big one!
Tight lines!
Those are some pretty fish no doubt, about the cleanest I've seen...
That last one was cussing at you in catfish language. Those are some nice blues
Haha, thanks!
You got lucky by getting those grippers back, Wow! Nice video.
Yeah, it was a close call.
Thanks for watching!
I love the sound those cats make outa water lol!! Some nice slobs there bro! Nice releases too! 🤙🏻
Thanks for watching!
Heck yeah Joe! Nice fish!
Thanks for watching!
Great way to start a Monday morning........awesome cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
It was an intense day!
Ya u can hear that third fish was pissed ..cool vid man. I don't think I could've let them go that was alot of good eatin
Thanks, Donnie!
I get so jealous over joes videos, I’ll be fishing for 12 hours and catch 6 fish under 20 pounds but joe can go in a creek and catch giants like it’s blue gill
Creek fishing for catfish has its time and place. I typically fish it after a good rain.
