  • Airforce Sergeant Jake Tate is at his physical peak but starts to develop painful fatty lumps called lipomas all over his body. At first he thinks that they are being caused by stress but doctors reveal that these lumps are being caused because of an extremely rare disorder called Dercum's disease. Plus, Jesica Blaszczak suddenly starts to get chills, fevers and headaches. Doctors believe that she just has a minor infection but it is later on revealed that she is actually suffering with a life-threatening infection of the heart called endocarditis from sepsis.
People suffering from illnesses un or misdiagnosed, discuss their journey to finding a diagnosis.

hannah davis I have Dercums disease too , it took over 15 years to be diagnosed with lipomas and then I went home and googled painful lipomas and all this stuff came up about Dercums....my stomach felt like it hit the floor as I read all the symptoms..all these years doctors had treated individual symptoms but never put it all together....I was finally diagnosed and although there is no cure at least I no longer have doctors thinking I am faking the pain or going nuts ! So many doctors just wanted me to go on antidepressants thinking was making it all up for whatever reason....how you make up hundreds of lumps all over your body has me stumped ! I have had some luck having the biggest ones removed, they are coming back but at a slower rate so it is helping somewhat but due to all the painkillers I need my life is severely restricted and I do spend days in bed recovering if I even slightly over do what my body is capable of enduring.

I have a permanent catheter in my arm and have had numerous cases of sepsis. It really isn’t fun. At least I know what’s going on when I get the shakes and spike a fever. I immediately go to the ER and get blood cultures taken, to find out what bacteria is causing it. I’ve been checked for Endocarditis several times, since bacteria can attach themselves to the heart. Luckily, the results have always come back negative. I’d be terrified if I had no clue what’s wrong with me.

Migraine & headaches is NOT the same!! It's not another name for a headache.. A migraine is not only a headache, it's a certain pulsating headache in one side of the head, that get's worse as soon as you try to do anything, you feel sick & throw up, I can't keep anything down during an episode, not even water, and it lasts for days.. my speach (sluring), sight (aura) & movements get's affected...
I have had both endocarditis + sepsis with the headache & I suffer from really severe cronic migraines, migraine feels way worse..
I really wish people would stop calling a headache for migraine, if you haven't got the diagnosis or if it's only the one symtom.. you can get really bad headaches without it being a migraine episode..

Gee I hate the cinematography of these episodes, in particular the shots with the peoples eyes. The content is fascinating but aspect of it really turns me off wanting to watch. They are attempting to make it suspenseful and dramatic, but it's more akin to horror.

In military, he should be PHYSICALLY FIT. The mere fact that he had this problem already made him feel a bit passive to seek medical attention. Mainly because he might lose his job which he worked so hard to have.
