They were called head bangers. They almost wiped out the other tribe, who only survived by adapting the head bangers tools and installing humbuckers at the bridge position in their super weapons.
Finally, thank God, thank you Dave. I was absolutely desperate for a new video here. Ain't nothing like watching a guitar tech tweak these instruments back to reality.
Dave, thanks for what you do! This video alone helped me in a few areas I was stuck on with my own work. You definitely help a lot of people who watch your videos and somewhere in them you touch on something that helps in a big way! It’s refreshing to watch someone be a real person on RUclips and just being their self. Thanks for all the entertainment!
awesome work Dave love the videos thanks for taking the time to make them and great choice on choosing the pink tip to put in Gibsons stink neck. the pink in the stink always does the trick ;)
Dave bought a Ibanez AX120 its SG CLOSE COUSIN, RATHER THAN EPIPHONE MUSE SG and over 61 Gibson reissue. And I'm so happy had it plugged in Vox Cambrige 30 full out clean channel new kismet mini vintage overdrive, supposed to be hand wired molded TS9 70's tube screMer who cares, at low volume guitar and low volume mini half gain low tone, I was getting tones I use to get 1970 with Gibson SG and Dual Showman but than had to play full volume in 70, but yesterday was getting it at volume that didn't bother my neighbors in old high rise ain't it grand kids got now!
Nice of you to try and help Dave, but there was no need! All Gibsons come from the factory with a easily detachable headstock for convenience, in case the owner wants to store the guitar and headstock separately.
My ‘62 Reissue SG had the same issue with the truss rod nut. It would not budge. My guitar guy used a soldering iron to heat it and then cleaned it up.
When I was at school, early sixties, we used to call it scotch glue and it came in blocks which had to be broken up, then put in a pot which sat in a hot water bath. Stunk but worked.
Hi from Australia Dave, you are a complete dufus, but in a great way. Love your vids and have learned some things I have not been taught over here. Many thanks my friend, stay safe, stay well. The world could use more people like you.
The pink needle is 18 gauge. The gray is 22 gauge...You said, "the tiny would be the best." That would be the 22 gauge--of the 3 needles the 22 is the smallest (which is the one you used). Just clarifying for the listeners.
It's the smooth-as-silk tones in Dave's voice that prove he was once a Soprano Choirboy...... You never lose it!! (BTW, he was the bass player for a reason!!)
We are all in this together Dave. You stay safe and crank out the videos and we'll stay safe so we can watch them. Your channel helps me through another day of this insanity and I need all the help I can get. I've been off for 68 years............
I have that exact SG. It's an "All-American" 75 re-issue. Bought it in '93. Mine still plays great, aside from beating the shit out of it, and the nitro finish cracking wherever sweat has touched it.
Looks like a late 90s SG Special. I had the "Ferrari Red" version and it was awful. Not only was the colour absolutely garish (and came off in chunks) but the neck pitch was way too steep so the bridge was jacked up over an inch off the fingerboard. Unfortunately I'd bought it on mail order (brand new too) so I didn't notice the issue with the bridge. The G string never stayed in tune but the pickups sounded great.
Jesus.. I had a very similar one... They called it SG special.. Somme 27 jears ago or so..... It was my first 😅Giby ever.. And the Pick ups.... Well😅 But I loved it for wath it.. Was... 🤔😂❤️👍
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff mine snapped at the neck pocket cam off the strap and snapped the headsock at the same time hitting the concrete floor of a ousting gig as we were playing....
Oh those Gibson headstocks. They really should adopt Epiphone headstock angle. PS watching this repair while watching Battlebots, very cathartic in a weird way.
I am 99% sure that is Dave. I was disappointed that it wasn’t on the Penny Black CD. If you look back a few years in DWOFS videos you may find the whole tune. I’m pretty sure he posted it but I’m old and sometimes I don’t remember stuff.
Hey man! What are you doing? Gibson designed those headstocks to crack. That's how you know it's AUTHENTIC. That was a Genuine Gibson Headstock Crack TM that you destroyed. Do you have any idea what Gibson charges for a genuine Gibson replacement crack? It's ridiculous! It's actually cheaper to buy a new Gibson SG and wait it out.
I was just watching Thomas Johnson (antique furniture restoration) use that exact same brand of dead animal and urine glue and syringe. If it's good enough for TJ, you must be doing it right.
i look forward to part two, once this was a nice guitar, then it met a fool and now a wreck, hence dave to the rescue. lets see what happens. what do you people do to your gibsons? im nice to mine
Well you have certainly helped me get through this past year. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
It's 7:32AM and you made me laugh, I'm learning a lot just watching you, keep doing what your doing. Love you.. Take care god bless..
Keepin’ us alive and gooch free. Thanks Dave. Cheers. ✌️
When the video starts with Dave singing about Gooch Street, I know this is gonna be good.
Your charisma more than makes up for the production value! I can’t see very well anyway! Enjoying your content
Your best intro in years.
It was a good one. Best ever????? I will have to review all of his videos. 😂🤣😂
Had me at Gibson, which is ancient Summarian for gooched.
Neanderthal man used to use broken Gibson headstocks as stabbing weapons.
@@PJBonoVox He also used to swing Les Pauls to break skulls, but often got left holding an open book end. And that was before they invented books.

Always like it when Dave shows us something new.
Love your stuff, Dave. Jokes, too! Thanks for letting us hang with ya, and thanks for the wisdom. :)

Really nice work on the headstock repair
Probably the kind of damage you don't want to see, but a very nice luthier repair video. A break from routine tech work.
A nice clean repair.
Thanks Dave!

Way to go Dave I look forward to ur videos
I still cant over the pickup height on the bridge pickup. LOL!
As entertaining as it is informative. Great work as always.
thanx for the vid Dave ..stay well.

Hey! That was a George Harrison Beatle song, "Old Brown Glue"!
I swear, I can hear highly 'reverbed' voices singing in the background: "Doo-Dahhhh! Doo-Dot-Doo!"

That glue bottle has a lot of personality. Never saw that one before. Nice. Watering down Titebond sometimes messes with one's confidence.

I bought a 25 year old Les Paul Classic that still had lacquer on the nut.
Hey Ryan Adams sent me. He said you're funny. So let's hear it.
The joke still works 😂😂
'Dead Animals and Piss' is the title of my next album. Out now at all reputable record stores.
My favorite song by Donovan is Sunny Gooch Street.
Any tips for making a Stratocaster fretboard microtonal
I'll be honest. I was singing the harmony with Feltch Street.
Calling Dr Curly, Dr Larry, Dr Dave!😂🎸
Dave, you fuckin rock!
Good thing you're a bassist, Dave! Your vocalizations are tension-inducing, perhaps, even SPHINCTER-CLENCHING! hehehe...
Oh Gibson.. What is it about you that we like so much?
Your a guitar surgeon Dave😜
Had to take the Gibby to Spooge St!
I hope we'll have a part 2.

I was looking forward to the switch fix
So what was the solution to the switch problem?

Is dead animals and piss the superior tone glue? Gibson custom shop don't know what they're missing
Twenty-four hours? Plenty of time for a sandwich.( or two). How's the neck angle on that sg? Bridge looked kinda high

"The glue of choice for every discerning goregrind musician".

Dave is pretty good at griping as well.

Am I seeing a Ratdog logo on Dave's hoodie?
yes
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCH

You need some dental tools to scrape that nut, they work like a charm.
