I had to adjust my truss rod just last week because the furnace started running. And I know how to do it thanks to watching Dave for years.

That P Bass was the definition of rode hard and put away wet. I've never seen sweat do that to a finish. You're a beast, Davey!

Dave's story about the local music store reminded me of when Dave told me that his father said "The only one making money in music is the guy who sold you that guitar"......

I wasn't completely awake yet ( it's about 3 am where I am ) and I thought I had read "Semi Anal truss rod adjustment day" instead 😄😄😄
But thankfully a good cup of coffee fixed everything...

Another reason I've heard for the truss at the heel is that the head stock and the end of the neck is stronger and more rigid.

That Washburn is a tone monster. If i could only keep two basses it would be my lake placid blue P Bass and my Ric. The Ric is super comfortable but the Fender blows everything out of the water.

Mine is a 1985 P-Bass made in Japan. Cream color with a white pickguard. Maple neck and fretboard. I usually play with a pick just above the bridge. Locking strap buttons. No thumb rest. She is beautiful. I do wish the truss rod adjustment was on the headstock and not at the heal of the neck. That's the only thing I would change if I designed it.

The turning of the truss rods.😁
Always wondered, do you need to humidify a semi hollow body instrument like you need to humidify an acoustic guitar, or is the wood thick/stable enough that you don't need to?

your theory about the truss rod matches mine, too. BUT, I HATE, HATE, HATE taking the neck off to adjust anything! I'll gladly take off my pants to make adjustments, just not any neck!

6:13 Not sure I’d call that a bat wing; it look more like an ocean sunfish. The guy who probably designed it was an ocean sunfish in his previous life too.

Is it just the camera angle or is there more space between the A and D strings on the Back P-bass than between the E and A and G and D? Near the pick-up cover.

What wall hanger hooks do you recommend? There are a lot for sale on Scamazon. I don't want the chance of a guitar getting knocked off or of marring the neck finish. Any ideas? I want about 6 of them.

My only Bass guitar that i have is a 1977 fender p bass like yours except with a maple neck and fret board and truss rod adjustment is at the top. i dont think ive ever adjusted the neck since the 70s and it still plays great but i dont play it often. i bought it so i could teach our bass player how to play the bass parts of songs we played. i think i payed 375 for it brand new. all those big chrome pieces were taken off. id think that harmony feeds back at high volumes. in the 70s the only good basses were fender p bass the hofner, gibson ripper and the rickenbackers. course there was a les paul bass nobody played, the rest were junk that were availible. fender was the best bang for the buck for sure. mines pretty mint in black. i keep it cased

In '72 you already knew you wanted to play bass? I thought every kid in '72 wanted to be either Ritchie Blackmore or Eric Clapton?

James Jamerson and Jack Bruce (just for two of the many) kicked our bass butts back then.
Susan, Margaret, and Michelle (for three of the many more) were inspirations too, but I only got to play guitar.
