  • I am down at Pagham Harbour in West Sussex. Martin Snow is with me to help me explore the many facets of the harbour, including the strange Norman ringwork beside St Wilfred's and the old Tide Mill of which little remains.

Another gorgeous part of the world. My mum’s side of the family are from Bognor and Chichester and I remember walking around Pagham on freezing February weekends! I’m glad you chose a better day than we ever did! 😆

Yes Selsey was an island. Any place that has EY on the end (There are exceptions) indicates it's an island) Southsea is a misspelling, Brownsey, Sheppey, Thorney, .and many others.

Oh that it interesting - thanks for that John. I have learned something. Those would all make interesting places to explore too!

Used to go birdwatching at Pagham a lot, many a cold winter’s day has been spent there. Unfortunately these days it just feels like too far to go for a day’s birdwatching from East Sussex.

My ancient Family History is based around here & I have written about this over many years.
I have also written a ‘Ben Hur’ type ‘Roman Epic’ that is set here in Silesia.
i have written this colossus in Latin and is accompanied with my English translations.

    Hi Vobes,
Whatever happened to Horner House and the owners (the Reddicks)? It was a small preparatory school in the Pagham and South Mundham area.

Three big wheels keep on turning, Proud Mary keeps on burning.....................Rolling on a river.
Shades of Credence Clearwater Revival at Pagham Harbour, who'd have thought, great show.

great video, everywhere we walk there is history, those bumps and holes are normally not just that, they have so much much history, back here in Northern Ireland we have so many Earthworks, many unvisited and left to overgrow yet the history lying just beneath us can be amazing..

Very true - it would be lovely to visit your part of the world and explore some of its history.

"the history lying just beneath us can be amazing.."
Luckily, even in these times, whenever I tell people that we live in the 'richest' country in the world - some actually DO get it.
For those who think of Las Vegas as paradise on earth, however..........................
