I was using them leaning forwards and gosh did it ever cause me neck and shoulder pain. In the hospital emergency, they just handed me the crutches and a fracture boot without any guidance or how to adjust it that I stumbled alot before finding wonderful tips on youtube. I would lightly rest the heel of my fracture boot on the floor for balance, otherwise I would tip over while using the crutches but the doc told me to keep the fracture boot totally off the ground which made it impossible to hobble around with the crutches. He said it worsened the swelling but I don't think so because I wasn't placing any weight on it.
Thanks this made me confident enough to try and get myself some crutches. I'm chronically ill and need different mobility aids long term, and no one explains you this stuff. I knew the leg thing because I've been using a walking stick for a while but didn't know that it was the same principle with crutches only you're supported from both sides and that sounds exactly like what I've been needing.
Thank you so much for this clear, thorough tutorial. I'm 6 weeks out from an ACL-meniscus surgery and just started partial weight-bearing a couple days ago. This tutorial is helping me so much, re-learning how to walk and facing the stairs!
Thank you for your advice I have picked up my crutches for the first time today and was very confused about which leg goes first. I also have a deep step down from my front door to the path outside, which is the best wat to go in and out?
Hi! Thanks for this video. A little confused about the recommendation to not hop: I have a broken foot and I am not supposed to put any weight on my foot at all. Should I still have my foot touch the floor as indicated in the video? Or does this only apply to knee injury? Thanks!
Hi Laura, I suppose you have a cast/immobilizer etc? With an injury such as yours, It is often wise to even slightly touch the ground with the cast, so the recommendation "not to hop on one leg" still applies. Of course all doctors have their preferences so I advise you to follow the instructions your doctor gave you 👍
Thank you for your clear and comprehensive video.I broke and dislocated my ankke 12 weeks ago and although its now fixed l am struggling to trust using crutches.Any tips on how to overcome this? Thanks
Hi Linda, I would start working on with stationary bike and low load closed kinetic chain exercises, such as the single leg leg press. These exercises allow you to build confidence to your your leg. In addition to these, it is wise to start gradually increasing the weight bearing using the crutches, as demonstrated in the video. Good luck with your rehab!
Hi,first of all thanks for the video.I have a question! Around 2 months ago my right foot ankle got fractured. After keeping 1 month plaster my doctor said the bone is jointed again you can walk but I can’t step my foot properly on the floor. It feels like my right leg is get short compare to another leg. What should I do in that case?
Hi! In this case, I would suggest contacting your physio and starting rehab exercises to make your foot more ready for weight bearing activities, such as walking. 👍

How about if both knees are injured or artritis
How can I buy your crutches
