Thank you for speaking on this! I have relaxed hair and have colored my hair successfully many times in the past. The key is to not go too light, ensure that the hair is at optimal health prior to coloring, and keeping up with moisture/protein balance afterwards.
Glad I found your channel today! Not too many people are brave enough to start a channel about healthy relaxed hair. Channels like this are not easy to come by, but are greatly needed. Thank you. 💜
Yes i agree to a certain extent that the hair is fragile when your hair is double process BUT if you do weekly hair treatments, oil treatments and you keep your hair moisturizer your hair isnt weaker than the average person with relaxed hair.....Some people have damaged relaxed without using hair dyes...
Thanks for the advice, although I had highlights many years ago, I experienced breakage and decided not to go that route again. I love your braids! God bless you and thanks for educating us on proper hair care (I know not every product works for every hair type).
This was most helpful. I’m greying and use semi permanent color. I get your advice about 1. Clarifying shampoos and keeping moisture! I’ve had dryness and stress which gave me perimeter breakage. Thanks for this advice!
Thank you so much for your insight! Your messages are always so timely... I was just looking at the gray popping up... looks like I'm on the right track with using a semi permanent to maintain my healthy hair. You are awesome!

I wish I would have found this before making such a drastic decision 😭. Disclaimer I have been natural loving my healthy bleached twa for the past 7 years. Recently I made the decision to relax my hair just to relearn how to care for relaxed hair. Ummmmm bad decision REALLY BAD decision 😭😭. Luckily I'm used to being in a twa/low cut look. When in the mood for long hair I just rock wigs. I'm very fluid in my look and don't keep the same one for long. But yeeeeeeaaa I COMPLETELY forgot how to care for relaxed hair. Even when I was relaxed before I was natural it was NEVER colored.
Wow , I’ve done semi - permanent , permanent/rinse in dark and light colors .planning on going back to blonde with creme of nature light golden blonde amonia /free then weeks after a platinum blonde permanent amonia free .
i just used a permanent dye on my hair and i hate the results and I'd really love to change it to a darker shade and i also need a relaxer because I've stretched my relaxer for 3 months, i need your advice 😢
I relaxed my hair 3 weeks ago and did a semi-permanent color for the first time to cover my greys. My hair is healthy so I've had no issues so far. 1 week post I used olaplex 3 as I always do after a relaxer. I plan so colour every 7 or 8 weeks. Should I use olaplex after every color or is my regime after relaxer day sufficient?
Hello. I think the routine you have now is perfect. I wouldn’t make any changes unless I notice a change with my hair. At that time I would then start using olaplex after coloring as well. If your starting with overall healthy hair I doubt you will have any issues. Just remember to make moisturizing your hair a top priority 💕
Hello I'm new to your channel but loving the content so far 👍My concern is im about to color parts of my relaxed hair for the first time ,i opted for balayage because I hear its safer on the hair as well as the products my stylist uses is 98% natural. I'm 2 weeks post relaxer, I moisturize like crazy and my hair is very healthy with minimal split ends..would love to know what you think ,does she balayage sound less risky? I'm going for light brown streaks.
Hello. Thank you for watching ❤️ I haven’t used mane choice myself but I’ve heard good things about the line. After looking into a few of the products … the line does have some growth promoting and moisturizing ingredients. I would definitely give it a try!
I am relaxed and I'm thinking about getting Loreal Hicolor......... I really just want a change 😕willing to risk it breaking but I plan to do lots of treatments every week.
@Nayah Bean yay 😀. I’m glad you love it!! Don’t forget to add olaplex into your routine... especially if your stylist offers number 1 and 2 in the salon ❤️. It does help to MAINTAIN hair health after processing, although REPAIRING it with olaplex takes a while.
It is recommended to wait 2 weeks between relaxer and hair coloring/ bleach. I would wait 3-4 weeks so I can do at least one protein treatment/ deep conditioning and bond repair (olaplex) in between. Thanks for watching ❤️
Hello! I would try a semipermanent color. It will definitely cover any grays and is the mildest option. You do have to touch up because semipermanent colors tend to fade with washing. Another option if your still unsure is to try a rinse. This is harmless to the hair and will still cover your grays.

Hello. If the curly perm has caused some damage to your hair and it is not in a healthy state I Would NOT recommend coloring your hair. It will definitely cause further weakening of the hair. If your hair is in a healthy state you can try coloring ( I did and had little to no damage) but there is always a risk…. Even with natural hair.
Hello. You can order it online. I have it linked in the description. If your in the NY area it’s carried at Royal Cyn Beauty supply store in Long Island. 💕
Quick question: so almost about two weeks ago, I did color oops on previous color I had that was already growing out, then I bleached only the back of my head and added semi permanent dye to the whole head but in the front I just did my natural black color and in the back it’s pink. I was considering relaxing my edges in the front but what would you suggest? Like I said as far as the front goes the only thing I did was the color oops two weeks ago and then put the semi permanent on top which really barely took.
I really would like to color my hair but I am soooo scared. I’m relaxed but I almost never straighten my hair (only at my touch up appointments). My hair still has a lot of wave to it so I just wear it as a wash and go and I love it. But I’m scared if I get my hair bleached that my little waves will be damaged and I’ll just have straight pieces.
Hello! Thanks for watching 💕 It’s recommended to wait at least 2 weeks between chemical processing. So you are well past that mark and it should be safe to relax your hair. That said if you notice your hair is breaking more than usual after this last color treatment, then perhaps hold off for another 2 weeks and try a protein treatment before relaxing.
Hello. Natural henna is a good alternative for those not willing to risk traditional coloring. But the results are sometimes uneven. It is also hard to go lighter or change the color after using. So if you want a lighter color or highlights henna is not the answer. Also it can take a while for the color to set ( a few hours) and can stain the skin. So for me…. Too much work lol
😂 I understand your concerns. When I put in highlights I keep them to the front of my hair. That way if it starts breaking, I can cut/layer the front and keep the length in the back 😭 If you are experiencing ANY significant breakage right now hold off. Not worth the risk. Thank you for watching 💕

Do you have any recommendations? I already did a protein treatment and my hair is coming out easily so idk if that helped.
Hello!!! OMG this is a tricky one. I’m assuming you were natural. If so I wouldn’t relax my entire head again. If it’s the roots that are under processed, when getting your next relaxer I would touch up my new growth and extended it down to the under processed area. I would leave the ends for now. Focus on using bond build products like olaplex and hair repair leave ins like living proof repair and restore treatment. Do you use heat on your hair. If so I suggest you straighten the “puffy” ends by using low heat on them to prevent breakage. Once your hair is stronger/repaired a bit, then I would focus on correcting the ends with relaxer or slowing clipping them away over time. Good luck with everything ❤️
