Hi Jackie, thanks for the appreciation! So on this trek I (Del) used the Osprey Talon 44L and Kim used the Osprey Mira 22L. We also had a duffel bag carried by a porter. My bag was still quite big because of camera gear and such like, but even so I had room to spare. On other treks in Nepal we’ve carried everything ourselves and used a 70L and 50L backpack. Will you be trekking with a porter or carrying all your own gear?

Hey, really glad you found it helpful. About night temperatures it’s hard to say definitively, but going by the various apps we were using, temps at Gokyo were getting down to about -10°C through the night in mid April. Of course, this year might be warmer as worldwide temperatures are on the rise, especially while El Niño lasts. Gorak Shep was not quite as cold for us I think, we more had issues with waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air. Anyway, hope that gives you a rough idea. Make sure you have a warm sleeping bag, good thermals to sleep in, and pull the available blankets over your bag… that always kept us nice and toasty 🙂

Hi there, thanks for the appreciation. No, you don’t need to go to Ramechap, but neither can you book on Skyscanner. You can book on the actual airline websites (Summit Air, Tara, etc.) or through an agency in Kathmandu (you can find many just wandering through Thamel). Hope that helps 🙂
Thank you! We like to make our hiking videos relaxing and immersive for the viewer, letting the scenery do the talking instead of us. Commentary over those films would change the nature of them, and we prefer not to do this. But we do like to share as much practical info as possible with our viewers to help them get out there and do the trek for themselves too, which is why we write very detailed guides on our blog to accompany our films, and also made this detailed video guide. Gokyo Lakes is particularly scenic, especially the views as you climb Gokyo Ri. The views from the days crossing Kongma La and Cho La were also incredible, unfortunately we couldn’t see anything on Renjo La. The views from Kala Pathar are great, as are the views of EBC as you approach. Fantastic views of Ama Dablam in the days after Namche Bazaar 🗻

December is honestly one of the best times. I did EBC in 2010 late Dec. Everyday was clear skies.
