btw I highly recommend to zip tie the tap wires to the main wire, make a small loop and zip tie again I had this on my M2 and after a while the wires would get loose and make a bad connection even with the single zip tie it wasn't enough I needed to make the loop to give it natural strain relief may not be as much as an issue in the i4 since the suspension is much softer but wanted to give anyone reading a heads up so they don't have to remove the mirror housing 3 times like I did 😭
Just did same car, very easy, I did use a pic-tool to release electric connector. Just slipped a 90% pic in the middle of the connector about lock slot and pulled out with fingers.
Pretty sure that is the old body style so this video doesn’t work. But you are in luck I have a 5 series video for your model. Look thru the channel. The 7 series video has the same mirror too so you can look at both videos for reference if you want to see different angles ect.
Whoa!! I think you’re the only one doing this type of connection. I have a 2020 G20 3 series , was thinking of standard hard wire for a VIOFO A139PRO but then , then I watched this!! I have a question.. Now I’m no expert but .. If I tap in to the mirrors wire harness with a red wire black wire (2core) to usb type C female then use usb type C male to male to connect to the camera would that 1 power the camera , 2 Give me full parking mode & 3 protect my battery from drainage?¿
Hmmmm remember you saying it’s an accessory connector, so that will only power on when the car is on & power off after 10 mins ish. Perhaps I’ll have to do standard hard wire after all or buy connect with OBD2 to usb type C 😢
@@coachtripleb5121 you can run a wire tucked in the headliner, behind the passenger foot well, tucked inside the center console and plug into a slim right angle usb adapter into the rear usb outlet or 12v with slim usb adapter the rear passengers will just see a tiny cable plugged in and in the front you won't see anything the f30 had a 12v sockef in the passenger foot well.. some reason they removed it in g20
So on my 2022 X3 30idrive - the black(brown) and Red are constant hot and don't turn off when you lock the car or turn off the ignition - is this the same for you? Is it always "HOT"??
HI I have a i4 Love it, may I ask if i can use this same method to install a dash cam?? can it be that simple as well???? the dash cam is now required a simple cigarette light connection ( plug )
My dash cam has a micro usb and thia dodnt work for me when installing my dashcam. Dont think thw connectors need to be wriggled in that cus it broke and had to pull the pin it with a plier. Finally tested it with my playstatuon controller and didnt work.
mirror wiring is 12VDC micro usb is 5VDC you need a 12VDC camera or find a mirror tap with step down converter to 5VDC which may no longer fit in the mirror housing due to the extra bulk
@@SSY86374 sticker but they required financing +1% to the rate listed on bmw. Also they added some extra protection plans to the car totaling 1.5k. Going to cancel them in a month if I can.

MUCH Better video than all the rest l,. specifically for BMW's.
No music
No BS
Just perfect Lol
Thank you, I tried it out on a 2024 BMW 330i xDrive; it worked out perfectly!
Worked great, thanks
Appreciate the video. Easy to follow. I connected my V1 in my 2024 M240i today.
Just did same car, very easy, I did use a pic-tool to release electric connector. Just slipped a 90% pic in the middle of the connector about lock slot and pulled out with fingers.
thank you sir! worked perfectly in my 2023 X7 M60i.
Great video - thank you!
good video and genuis , what to do if you want 24/ 7 ?
The other wire on that plug should be live, but most likely you would drain the 12v battery
I have a '23 G42, does it matter if it's the black plug or pink plug?
Is this the same at to remove the cover in a 2021 m550i?

I believe there is a constant on under there also. I know there is for my 7 series. But it should still drain the 12v battery

Yes same thing. However if you hook up multiple devices it may blow a fuse

you need a 12VDC camera
or find a mirror tap with step down converter to 5VDC which may no longer fit in the mirror housing due to the extra bulk
Thanks for sharing. I'm waiting for my i4 m50. Put deposit down in June so it might be delivered in 2023. When did u order it?
I didn’t order it. I was looking for one and a local dealer had a cancellation so I took their allocation. Just got really lucky.
@@DuhRaceCar sticker price u paid? Or over? I know dealers are asking at least $5k more

How about a Infrared windshield, where is the area for radar detectors?
Normally it’s on the top near head liner and both sides of the mirror mount

Can you show a tutorial on installing a dashcam?
same method... just need the wire tap
@@DuhRaceCarso you can just stick 2 wire tap kits each into the same holes? It wouldn't fit.
Oh sorry I misunderstood. You prob don’t want to do that. You might blow a fuse.
100% worries about it not turning off.
