Sadly it has not caught the fantasy of moviegoers of Northern India. Maybe it’s too cerebral or is it plain politics of movie buyers of northern India for southern Indian films. Sadly most Malayalam films at present have lost nativity. Exceptions like Sathyan Anthikadu. I simply loved his Manasina Akkare entertaining thought provoking brimming with nativity characters you can relate Watched this film nearly 30 times sadly on DVD. "Nativity" isn't a static concept though: Malayalam films of today DO capture the life, social realities etc native to Kerala of today (both urban AND rural) just as well as Sathyan Anthikkad used to portray the Kerala from 15-30 years ago. Our cinema is simply reflecting the change that had already come to our REALITY.

One of the main reason of thallumaala's hit was the lack of its structured storyline. People in kerala was already seeing too much story oriented films that they were starting to get fed up . Then comes thallumaala with a simple and short story, but with technical excellence. The audience wanted something to celebrate to and they got what they were waiting for . Thus proving the fact that we need variety of films, films of every genre, films that deal with every kind of politics and films which represents everyone of its audience. Differences/plurality/heterogeneity is what makes everything sweet.

First of all thanks to every OTT platforms which enable to open up a large potential Mollywood lovers across our Country. Even though there were many non keralites who often sees Malayalam films , soon after the intro of OTT flatforms many Malayalam movies were translated tremendously with least reduction in soul of movie , to other languages enables a vast audience.
Only thing Mollywood lacks prior is the audience that it can cater to. From which the strange from the script itself the script writer or director can budget the movie and develop from there. If the audience is limited then the budget would definitely constrained.
As far as I'm concerned the opinion your have shared about "Nna than Case kodu" movie is absolutely to the spot. Brilliant making and have a strong story and involves socio-political elements and makes people aware about laws and the corruption in the system.
But "Thallumala" is purely a new gen experimental movie with least to zero suport of story and have a magnificent editing and making tech. For me it is not a admiring genre and i literally got bored in cinemas.

Thallumaala didn't add animation credits for the animation studio which did the work, for the theatrical release or the Netflix release. Only after they posted their own credit reel, Thallumaala posted an apology, how many times did they miss to add credits. All animation credit to Kokkaachi Studios.

Malayalam movie makers are coming from different parts of the state who grown up and lived in there own mini culture in different districs across the state. That why Malayalam movie is best but the telungu and bollywood mostly form a circle of families making same kind of movies with little modifications or reamking from Malayalam and Tamil.

I think the reason is ppl can relate better when the film picturises normal day to day life of Indians.
I see bollywood movies and it feels like non Indian in many aspects. Maybe the dressing maybe the body language maybe the sets the language the life shown etc etc...
When i watch Malayalam and tamil movies it feels very relatable...the characters look like everyday ppl not some size zero model
There is something like mother culture similar to mother tongue. Wherever u go mother culture is what u feel most related to.
