Vosk man, you gotta get filtration on that shed. With the CFM of your exhaust fans, suggest doing (6) 12x24 filters minimum with 8 being better. You are not trying to create a windstorm, you are just trying to make room for the air to replace itself with outside air, smoothly and easily. Use something like www.homedepot.com/p/TruAire-12-in-x-24-in-White-Return-Air-Filter-Grille-H190-12X24/205705130 For filters you need better than those horsehair filters, they allow too much dust in. Step up to like 300 MPR filters off Amazon. Something like www.amazon.com/Filtrete-Living-Furnace-Filter-1-Inches/dp/B002CJN0TA/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1531895519&sr=1-1&keywords=MPR+300+12x24 I run a shed with 102 GPU's in it, 2 3300cfm exhaust fans with (8) 14x30 filter racks with MPR 300 filters. I replace them once every 2 to 3 months. I am in central Florida. Make sure to caulk around the edges of the filter racks. When you introduce the filters, air will always try to find the least restrictive area to flow. It'll pull all kinds of dust and bugs in through any available cracks. Good luck.
I suggest you frame in openings on the intake air that allow you to slide in air filters. If you have a sturdy decent filter, you can let it get dirty as you want, long as air flow doesn't get too low and things get hot. A dirty filter just catches more dirt. All that to be said replace costs shouldn't be bad

You can reduce your dust and debris on your filters If you can attach an elbow to those intake vents. Better, just remove the vents and cut out a horizontal opening the height of the diameter of existing holes. The large new opening then will be covered with filter. Use gun style blowers to blow out the dust/debris from the filters.
Nice video! Built an ASIC mining room in basement (can hold 12 ASICS) that sucks in cool air from garage and exhausts it back outside. Learned a lot while building previous smaller enclosures and used that knowledge to create the current setup. Made some tweaks and it has been performing very well so far. Bradley C - Solar panels are expensive, so ROI is frickin' *never* and they use some nasty chemicals and processes to make. Plus solar is statistically about 4 times more deadly (deaths/kWh) than nuclear ;-) Personally, I want an old water mill with a generator inside. A nice home and free electricity, with mining rigs for central heating.
During the Winter looks like you could Duct the heat right back into your basement pretty easy also. Right into the "Cold Air Return" of your furnace so you get it all around your house. insulated 2-3FT Pipe/Ducting. Just a thought , Not sure how cold your winters get (we get -40)
I didn't add a shed to my setup but your video while back on your electrical setup helped a ton as I'd no clue a normal ATX psu could run on 240. I paid $2750 to upgrade from 100A to 200A service and have a 60 foot cable run to a 100A subpanel and I've got 2 l6 30p plugs for now. I opted to use a grow tent to vent the heat outside and its worked great. Let me know if you'd like to cover that style of setup and I can send you the details.
Unfortunately I live in a condo, but I am on the can't stop won't stop train so I upgraded my 50 amp to a (max city allowed) 100 amps + 8 ARC Fault Circuits totaling 3500 on the East Coast. Just upgraded a few weeks ago so I haven't really utilized much of it, but it's nice to turn on the AC and not worry about tripping 50 amp breaker!

Hay guys, great farming shed, I would highly recommend fiber insulation in the roof it will reflect a lot of the heat picked up front the direct sunlight on the roof, iv just bought the gear for my first ever 6card rig on a Asus b250 expert board and server rack to build in. I hope to get wher you are now in the near future. I know mining is tough right now but it's making for some great high end second hand card deals. Btw big it up for the date night, and high from the Australian mining community.
Hello. if you connect all the small air intakes to 1 air pipe and have sucked them up higher with 1 fan and filter it will save you a lot of dust and scrapes inside the room
I paid $1300 to have an electrician run 60 amps off of my main breaker to a room in the basement about 75 feet away. The electrician installed two 30A 240V outlets which I connected two PDUs to.
Yeah, prices can vary highly depending on what part of the country you live in. I spent three months getting estimates first and this was lowest. Plus it wasn't just a straight shot--the electricians (two of them) had to fish the lines behind and around apartment walls (we have a rental apartment in our basement) to get the power to the mining room.
have you looked at a wifi mesh alternative to address the poor wifi coverage in the house? just a thought - you could leave the wireless access point and attached ethernet switch in the mining shed, upgrading your wireless access point to a wifi mesh alternative (eero, orbi, luma, etc.) to provide better coverage in the house. thanks for the videos - they're great! please make sure miss vosk gets her date :-)
*GREAT SETUP!!!* Need Some Smoke Detectors, Modifiable The Speaker/Buzzer So it Rings in your house. Run 2-3 of them! Wells Worth it.. Now problem with the top mounted fans.. And Fresh air... They may not go off unless a LARGE fire. That's why running 2-3 of them would be worth it. You can Also Get home Alarm system panels. Setup a "Alarm system with smoke / heat detector. you can make it call your phone. AND Also you can make them "Cut the power" to your main. Myself. I don't take ANY chance... With that air flow think how fast it can burn down. ALSO a CCTV thermal camera.. (IP CAMERA) You can set it to send or ring a alarm if temps of ANYTHING in view of the camera gets too high. you can do some pretty crazy stuff with them.
What is the Coax cable you speak of? Is that for incomming internet? No fiber bro? :( In sweden we used Coax for television in the 80s, seems abit outdated for internet?
Fantastic work. How about an awning that runs the length of the house? It will create a couple outdoor seating areas and not draw attention that you are trying to lower the temperature of the shed by a few degrees.
Are you going to put in different air filters as the time goes on? I was thinking about building one in Arizona. The problem I was thinking about is how I would keep the bugs out since we have Black Widows here and scorpions. I didn't think it through yet but I'm planing to somehow add AC return filters to the setup and on the outside protect it with a similar mesh. What do you think about that? Or how would you improve your airflow intake in the future?

Vosk, Great Vid ! Question: Do you get noise complaints from your neighbors (especially after midnight)? What is the db noise level outside your shed with those 3 attic fans running 24x7? Unfortunately for me, we have city by-laws that doesn't allow "ANY" noise above regular conversation level after midnight so I would have suggested that you add to your video that you should check with your local by-laws regulations before proceeding including if your house only has 100A box. Lucky you that you have 200A.
Hey Vosk, have you considered a way to make use of that shed heat for your house in the winter? I am planning on running a return line for my central air to my rig room (which is separated from the garage) and will close outside vents, turn on central recirc fan and help heat the house.

Hello! You didn't show too much of the shed install area after it was dug out. I saw some cinder blocks there though. So I'm hoping it was retained correctly. You should be extremely careful about erosion. If there is not a structural retaining wall built around that garage, there should be. One good hurricane season (major or constant raining) will put your garage in eminent danger.
You will not use less power (KwH) with 220-240 over 110-120 because of Watt's Law Amps*Volts=Watts 110-120v at ~7.2 amps 800 watts is the same as 220-240v at ~3.6 amps = 800 watts, you don't lower your usage just your amp draw so you can have more miners (in this case) on a circuit as they are pulling 1/2 the amps per 110-120 leg of the 220-240 circuit. 20A uses 12awg, 30A uses 10awg, 40A uses 8awg, (as a baseline for under 100' runs) wires are the same diameter for both 110-120 and 220-240 in those amperages, the difference is there are 2 hot wires in 220-240 verses 1 hot in 110-120.

One refinement is to calculate CFM + a little for all internal intake fans e.g. ASICs plus blow past for GPUs then ensure same for intake CFM vents and exhaust fans. Over provision and include variable control (or on/off with multiple exhaust). Liked how you drove home air exchange is key, remove heat not add cold. A/C is a fail in most setups (all?). Well, next step up would be datacenter hot/cold aisle and that would be good for higher density but for this scale I like the design! I do wonder about possible benefits of minimizing internal volume to improve efficiency in air flow. Input vent low, exhaust placement to tune for no hot eddies are nice finer points but hey we're just backyard miners here learning as we go ;-)

I think you should do the hot box technique sir. build a wall behind the miners where all the hot air goes. wall that up to those exhaust fans in the roof and your good to go
The air around my rigs gets about 10 degrees F hotter than the outside air. Is this considered good? I have a simple setup in the garage 5 fans and 4kw of rigs.

Have you tried turning your crypto mining Farm solar powered with solar panels and then a powerwall and so you wouldn't have to pay for the extra electricity that it would be getting so you would get buy solar panels enough to power and store up solar energy into the power wall which is a battery which would recharge everyday and it would run through the night if you left it on

Great vid dude! You should look into setting up an intake from the shed to the house. I live in PA and mines in the basement, I'm going to look into putting my rig exhaust into my current duct work for the winter if mining is still profitable.
I know this video is a year old but I just noticed something. You have attic fans and a ridge vent. When your fans are on, they will pull air from a path of least resistance. That means they will use rhs ridge vent as an intake. It would be more efficient to lose the ridge vent so the fan pulls air from the vents down below. Just sayin'
From my experience use a fiber optic cable or a WiFi client between your shed and the house. Don't use Ethernet because it can collect enough energy from a lightning strike nearby to killed every devices physically connected to your network. It happened to my mining shed and house last week. All of the motherboards, computers, TVs, video games and network equipment got fried. The GPUs were spared but if I had ASICs, they would have been zapped as well.
I just started a rig lol But I have a Great IDEA for cooling. Look up Geothermal Heating and cooling. Uses the depth of the earth witch it a constant 55 degrees Now it is expensive to have one installed But I found a way for u to do it yourself. if your interested ill let u know how mine turns out and its Less electric than your 3 fans
The only way to use AC efficiently to cool is to ensure it is a closed system. Have vents blowing cool air in and return vents at the highest points so you are cooling in an efficient cycle. If you did that with a few box fans for more directional flow where you need it, you could have a pretty good and efficient cooling system. The added costs for that are not insignificant though, as you have to pay for the AC unit, ducting, insulation of the entire space, etc. can be done and it be efficient, but would require a longer ROI from the higher costs. The benefits would be you could maintain a much lower ambient temp, and this a lower running temp on your cards which could improve overall performance. Gotta do a cost benefit analysis though to go that route.
check out what Matt from The Technicals did. Make a hot aisle that the exhaust from the rigs can be sent out, and a "cold" aisle where the fresh air can be channeled into the rigs. With that kind of setup you might not need any sort of HVAC. Also you can create boxes in front of your air intakes on your shed and put in filters to help keep out dust/dirt/bugs/etc. You would need to change them every so often, but they're relatively inexpensive. also I agree with the solar idea to help offset your electrical usage, depending on how much the cost to get panels are. I'm no solar industry expert but I can't see the downside in going with solar to help supplement your power usage. Depending on your area where you live you could possibly get some tax benefits.

I paid $3400 for my electrical work I had a 400 amp service installed 200 amp for my home and 200 amp for my mining room with 10 240 volt outlets on 30 amp breakers and 2 120 volt outlets... currently working on better heat management

Sorry I'm new to mining but if I were to run a mining farm one rig pulls 350 watts and the other pulls 1150 watts how many outlets and psu's would I need ? I'm wondering would a surge power strip be able to run both of those or would I need to split outlets or what. Any help would be appreciated
Jesse Lewis Watts = Volts * Amps. You never want to exceed 80% for continuous usage. 120V * 15A * 0.8 = 1440 W. Vosk has a setup of a circuit that is 240V * 30A * 0.8 = 5760W on a circuit.
Jesse Lewis The 1440W is for a standard American circuit. Each plug on a circuit should be rated for the full 15 Amps. You will have to make sure that the surge protector is also rated that high as some are rated at 13 Amps or so. You can put both on an outlet and for the higher watt machine make sure it has a very thick gauge cable between the PSU and the wall outlet. Also make sure the rig itself doesn't go over 80% of it's PSU rating. Also to note that higher voltage is more efficient so if you have an Antminer S9 on the official Antminer PSU, you need to run it higher voltage or get a bigger PSU.

nothing. your google search might use more data than a rig sending a share. important thing though is the quality or latency of connection. In ethermine pool, shares become stale or not accepted if your connexction drops for a couple of seconds
There's a reason why no1 talks about that aspect of cryptomining except that it's better to have rigs hardwired than wireless... the reason is simple: mining algorithms are very very light on bandwidth and, as some people said before, the quality of ISP network is waay more important than the internet download/upload (bandwidth) cap ... hope this helps, cheers!!
ONLY time you would need some bandwidth for a short period of time is when you are setting up a node, order downloading a blockchain, thats it. Otherwise your games like WOW etc takes more internet.
I have 5 Antminer L3+ running on a Netgear WNCE2001 N300 wifi adapter with less than 1/2% stale shares since April. I have plans to run multimode fiber the 200 feet to my shop but not because of the miners, for the POE security cameras I'll be switching to. My ISP is wireless to add to the hard wire debunking.
I pay US$0.075/kWh, come down to Guatemala Vosk, will make it happen down hear. I find an hidroelectric plant to match our compsumption needs at a cheaper rate.

I live in MN and got the same circuits ran, 75 ft too, but only on the other side of the garage, and in conduit. Cost me $950
I just finished putting a 100 amp sub panel with 3 30 amp circuits in my garage. Cost me just under $600 including the permit. I’m in Raleigh NC.
Vosk - you can run internet from your existing cable box using a MoCa adapter. Very easy to setup - look it up on Amz or Yt.

Fantastic work. How about an awning that runs the length of the house? It will create a couple outdoor seating areas and not draw attention that you are trying to lower the temperature of the shed by a few degrees.
Are you going to put in different air filters as the time goes on? I was thinking about building one in Arizona. The problem I was thinking about is how I would keep the bugs out since we have Black Widows here and scorpions. I didn't think it through yet but I'm planing to somehow add AC return filters to the setup and on the outside protect it with a similar mesh. What do you think about that? Or how would you improve your airflow intake in the future?

Vosk, Great Vid ! Question: Do you get noise complaints from your neighbors (especially after midnight)? What is the db noise level outside your shed with those 3 attic fans running 24x7? Unfortunately for me, we have city by-laws that doesn't allow "ANY" noise above regular conversation level after midnight so I would have suggested that you add to your video that you should check with your local by-laws regulations before proceeding including if your house only has 100A box. Lucky you that you have 200A.
I pay 7 cents per kWh here in central Oregon. Also another good power hook up is grow light timers. I have a 12 light timer that’s 240v.
Hey Vosk, have you considered a way to make use of that shed heat for your house in the winter? I am planning on running a return line for my central air to my rig room (which is separated from the garage) and will close outside vents, turn on central recirc fan and help heat the house.

Hello! You didn't show too much of the shed install area after it was dug out. I saw some cinder blocks there though. So I'm hoping it was retained correctly. You should be extremely careful about erosion. If there is not a structural retaining wall built around that garage, there should be. One good hurricane season (major or constant raining) will put your garage in eminent danger.
Really well done on the shed, One question tho. What do you neighbors think of the fan noise from the extraction fans? and does it annoy them?
You will not use less power (KwH) with 220-240 over 110-120 because of Watt's Law
Amps*Volts=Watts
110-120v at ~7.2 amps 800 watts is the same as 220-240v at ~3.6 amps = 800 watts, you don't lower your usage just your amp draw so you can have more miners (in this case) on a circuit as they are pulling 1/2 the amps per 110-120 leg of the 220-240 circuit.
20A uses 12awg, 30A uses 10awg, 40A uses 8awg, (as a baseline for under 100' runs) wires are the same diameter for both 110-120 and 220-240 in those amperages, the difference is there are 2 hot wires in 220-240 verses 1 hot in 110-120.
twcstransam psu is 2% more efficient at 220v that is what he is talking about.

One refinement is to calculate CFM + a little for all internal intake fans e.g. ASICs plus blow past for GPUs then ensure same for intake CFM vents and exhaust fans. Over provision and include variable control (or on/off with multiple exhaust). Liked how you drove home air exchange is key, remove heat not add cold. A/C is a fail in most setups (all?). Well, next step up would be datacenter hot/cold aisle and that would be good for higher density but for this scale I like the design! I do wonder about possible benefits of minimizing internal volume to improve efficiency in air flow. Input vent low, exhaust placement to tune for no hot eddies are nice finer points but hey we're just backyard miners here learning as we go ;-)

still cant believe your neighbors are oblivious to what your doing in there. at this point I would say they probably think your growing weed in there. I think you should do the hot box technique sir. build a wall behind the miners where all the hot air goes. wall that up to those exhaust fans in the roof and your good to go
The air around my rigs gets about 10 degrees F hotter than the outside air. Is this considered good? I have a simple setup in the garage 5 fans and 4kw of rigs.

Have you tried turning your crypto mining Farm solar powered with solar panels and then a powerwall and so you wouldn't have to pay for the extra electricity that it would be getting so you would get buy solar panels enough to power and store up solar energy into the power wall which is a battery which would recharge everyday and it would run through the night if you left it on
What do you do about cleaning the rig when the dust turns to concrete from the humidity? And did you really bury wood in the ground?

Great vid dude! You should look into setting up an intake from the shed to the house. I live in PA and mines in the basement, I'm going to look into putting my rig exhaust into my current duct work for the winter if mining is still profitable.

I know this video is a year old but I just noticed something. You have attic fans and a ridge vent.
When your fans are on, they will pull air from a path of least resistance. That means they will use rhs ridge vent as an intake. It would be more efficient to lose the ridge vent so the fan pulls air from the vents down below.

From my experience use a fiber optic cable or a WiFi client between your shed and the house. Don't use Ethernet because it can collect enough energy from a lightning strike nearby to killed every devices physically connected to your network. It happened to my mining shed and house last week. All of the motherboards, computers, TVs, video games and network equipment got fried. The GPUs were spared but if I had ASICs, they would have been zapped as well.
I just started a rig lol But I have a Great IDEA for cooling. Look up Geothermal Heating and cooling. Uses the depth of the earth witch it a constant 55 degrees Now it is expensive to have one installed But I found a way for u to do it yourself. if your interested ill let u know how mine turns out and its Less electric than your 3 fans
Great video Vosk! Did you have any issues with humidity when bringing in so much outside air?
The only way to use AC efficiently to cool is to ensure it is a closed system. Have vents blowing cool air in and return vents at the highest points so you are cooling in an efficient cycle. If you did that with a few box fans for more directional flow where you need it, you could have a pretty good and efficient cooling system. The added costs for that are not insignificant though, as you have to pay for the AC unit, ducting, insulation of the entire space, etc. can be done and it be efficient, but would require a longer ROI from the higher costs. The benefits would be you could maintain a much lower ambient temp, and this a lower running temp on your cards which could improve overall performance. Gotta do a cost benefit analysis though to go that route.
check out what Matt from The Technicals did. Make a hot aisle that the exhaust from the rigs can be sent out, and a "cold" aisle where the fresh air can be channeled into the rigs. With that kind of setup you might not need any sort of HVAC. Also you can create boxes in front of your air intakes on your shed and put in filters to help keep out dust/dirt/bugs/etc. You would need to change them every so often, but they're relatively inexpensive.
also I agree with the solar idea to help offset your electrical usage, depending on how much the cost to get panels are. I'm no solar industry expert but I can't see the downside in going with solar to help supplement your power usage. Depending on your area where you live you could possibly get some tax benefits.

I paid $3400 for my electrical work I had a 400 amp service installed 200 amp for my home and 200 amp for my mining room with 10 240 volt outlets on 30 amp breakers and 2 120 volt outlets... currently working on better heat management

Miners that started this year have a ROI of 1,5 to 2 years with the current market, he said this is his second summer so i bet he payed all on the previous December bull run.

Sorry I'm new to mining but if I were to run a mining farm one rig pulls 350 watts and the other pulls 1150 watts how many outlets and psu's would I need ? I'm wondering would a surge power strip be able to run both of those or would I need to split outlets or what. Any help would be appreciated
Jesse Lewis Watts = Volts * Amps. You never want to exceed 80% for continuous usage. 120V * 15A * 0.8 = 1440 W. Vosk has a setup of a circuit that is 240V * 30A * 0.8 = 5760W on a circuit.

Jesse Lewis The 1440W is for a standard American circuit. Each plug on a circuit should be rated for the full 15 Amps. You will have to make sure that the surge protector is also rated that high as some are rated at 13 Amps or so. You can put both on an outlet and for the higher watt machine make sure it has a very thick gauge cable between the PSU and the wall outlet. Also make sure the rig itself doesn't go over 80% of it's PSU rating. Also to note that higher voltage is more efficient so if you have an Antminer S9 on the official Antminer PSU, you need to run it higher voltage or get a bigger PSU.

important thing though is the quality or latency of connection.
In ethermine pool, shares become stale or not accepted if your connexction drops for a couple of seconds
There's a reason why no1 talks about that aspect of cryptomining except that it's better to have rigs hardwired than wireless... the reason is simple: mining algorithms are very very light on bandwidth and, as some people said before, the quality of ISP network is waay more important than the internet download/upload (bandwidth) cap ... hope this helps, cheers!!
ONLY time you would need some bandwidth for a short period of time is when you are setting up a node, order downloading a blockchain, thats it. Otherwise your games like WOW etc takes more internet.
