I run several old gaming laptops with what were at the time nice GPU’s. I pull in about $150 every 3 months or so. Not awesome, but it’s just a hobby. It all goes towards my kid’s futures.
If you are worried about fire, you should put them in a metal and fire rated cabinet. You can find some on uline. I would add fire extinguisher balls or fire blankets to fall on the phone if a fire starts.
If your worried about battery issues why not do the work to get rid of the battery? Its not that hard with something like a cell hasher. Then with a little setup you can use adb or other software to install apps and manage the phones.
imo the right way to calculate roi, if you're into crypto to shortcut the bankin system is to : 1- count the costs in the crypto mined (if you pay 10$ for a phone you calcultae the price from the crypto value in usd at the time of purchase) 2- same for electricity charges every month, count the cost in crypto at the time of payment; that amount of charges you withdraw from the number of coins mined during the month (could produce some minus obviously) 3-sum up all those monthly return for the year 4- divide that by initial investment to get your yearly return on investment & an idea of how long it takes to pay back the phone if you're profitable if you count in usd you are just speculating & results you get don't mean a thing as the market could make appear a losing setup as profitable & the opposite as well
I highly suggest on trying to run those phones batteryless. You can do that, by removing the battery bms from the battery, solder where the batter was connected a steady voltage the pack would realistically putt out, and plug the phones in with their charging port. The only reason you add voltage on the bms battery terminals is to tell the phone via the bms a battery is installed and can actually boot, while in reality, it completely runs from their charging port.
@SwanCastleCrypto see I was going to do this year's ago using this idea. With the batteries removed you can also cool the phones better. I designed a rack that would stack the phones so I could keep it in a mini fridge. I was also going to root the phone and turn the processor up. I've even thought about just buying the motherboard and running the boards via screen and mouse.
I don't remember who but there's a guy on RUclips who removed the battery from his phone and create a custom little circuit so the phone could always stay plugged in and still think it had a fully charged battery in it. This would remove all of your worry over lithium battery fires
If verus coin didn't jump 3x its value since last month, your ROI would be 6 years instead of just the two year. Also you are looking at the fact you are mining and keeping it in vera coin, instead of selling it for cash all the time. Had the jump not happened you would have been in the red.

3:05 i would just look at the voltage what is needed for 50% charge for the phone. In order to charge 100% of a battery the required voltage should be 4.3 volts, but in order to charge no more than 50% 3.4 volts must be on the your charger device. I don't remember exactly but you should understand what I mean, do some tests and you will understand how much is needed (sorry for my eng)
what you can do for that battery bubbling is since you are keeping them plugged in is see if you can remove the battery and while plugged it turn it on. This will make it so you don't have any issues with batterys since there wont be one.
Have you looked into having a timer to have the power for the phones turn off for like 8 hrs a day to let the phones use the batteries and this will help prevent battery sweel?
240volts at 1.6 amps doesnt really add up to 190 watts so i reckon your electric bills should be a bit higher. 240x1.6 ~ 400watts which would make a bit more sense to actually give proper power to all the phones. So i reckon the counter inst really accurate atm ?
My Samsung has a Battery Protection setting which only charges to a max of 80%. Maybe worth trying and keeping the pressure off the battery at 100% all the time?

Hey, those fire ball exploding things are pretty much a scam. I would recommend just putting a fire alarm and a real fire extinguisher nearby. Heck, if the phones are water resistant, then why not keep them submerged. Well, anyways, look up some videos on people testing those ball extinguishers and you'll see what I'm talking about. Nice phone farm and your earlier videos were an inspiration to try phone farming myself. Currently. I am running 20 Moto G power mostly with some Samsung, all 2-3 years with Android 11 or better. I find the Moto G works well and are dirt cheap if you buy broken screen models. Be careful when ordering them to make sure they are not password locked. I mine Acurast with either main app or the lite version as well as Nodle, Network 3 and Uprock. 5 are running 3 at the same time. None are left plugged in after being recharged, I'm semi retired so I am home a lot and check them often and let them run off battery. This way none get hot when not charging. My average price was $47 CAD, but that involved weeks of searching and carefully buying. So far all phones are working well. Keep the great videos coming!

I still have some running swollen. For years. The TCL phones are mini bombs. I replace batteries too on some. Super easy they sell kits on Amazon. With all tools needed with batter for 15 bucks. Or less
Or you can run them with a smart plug and an extension, make the plug turn off at 12 and back on at 8 so it stays 8hra unplugged, ( you can change the time depending on the phone)

You can buy phones with broken screens total all you need is a display adapter and a portable touch monitor then you can set them up easier
If you have brokem screen (no touch) you cannot accept hardware fingerprint which is needed by adb initial connection.

None are left plugged in after being recharged, I'm semi retired so I am home a lot and check them often and let them run off battery. This way none get hot when not charging. My average price was $47 CAD, but that involved weeks of searching and carefully buying. So far all phones are working well. Keep the great videos coming!
I had a phone that i ordered from eBay that was carrier locked, but fortunately i was able to return it. Nice setup you built! I'll have to try some of those other apps on my phones too.
I think you would be up 200% if you had just cost averaged over the same period of time .

I still have some running swollen. For years. The TCL phones are mini bombs. I replace batteries too on some. Super easy they sell kits on Amazon. With all tools needed with batter for 15 bucks. Or less
Just take the battery out, they run without it when plugged in
Or you can run them with a smart plug and an extension, make the plug turn off at 12 and back on at 8 so it stays 8hra unplugged, ( you can change the time depending on the phone)
