I have HAE and have been doing my best to research and understand it. Thank you for your help with this.
I could never have flu vaccines because I react badly to PEG. Watermelon and cucumbers cause a reaction too. I realise I had attacks during my period that started when I was 12 years old.
I am 61 years old and was only recently diagnosed. Period pain was something a girl had to put up with - despite the agony I was in for 3 days each month where my stomach would swell to three times the size and I had vomiting and diarrhoea.
I really reacted badly to my first flu vaccine, where my face swelled and breathing was difficult. As it was unheard of to have such a reaction I had another flu vaccine the next year and the reaction was the same.
After all these years of misdiagnosis it was a relief to finally be validated.
I insisted on seeing an immunologist and now have the report.
Still learning more about what sets me off, but my naturopath has been marvellous.

Can someone with HAE Type 3 take Advil or any nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs?
