    The higher stat gear costs an absolute fortune, as well as often not being available until one reaches a certain level. Personally, for heavy spinning, as a relatively new player, this is my current setup; it probably falls within the min-max setup you warn against in the video, but it is the ONLY heavy spinning setup that is available at a relatively low level, affordable, as well as able to handle big fish: Syberia Super Duty S88XH(31kg load) rod, Syberia Gold 80S reel, max drag 14kg, and cheap line Express Fishing super Braid 27 kg which I replace pretty frequently. I also oil the reel regularly and repair rod and reel gears when they are lightly worn, about 5-10% I've had great success with this rig and never had a problem. This setup actually reduces wear by being able to skate big fish across the water, once you have their heads pointing towards you. A big pike can sometimes be landed in a few seconds this way.

      As I said, it is certainly do-able and if you are willing to pay the extra cost in repairs and really babysit your wear stats you can come out o.k.

    • @MikeKye200
      @MikeKye200 7 лет назад

      The repairs are infrequent and I don't need to babysit this rig at all.
      Every now and then I go back to Map3, the Winding Rivulet, to stock up on supplies, and repair gear. No problems at all.

    I'm glad I have, slightly dusty, experience from Fishing Planet concerning "balanced setups", or this would be all new. Now it just a brush-up, and to see how many factors RF4 has included. Thank you, Kache.

    good video mate , i just notice in your other repair video that u said the best value is to repair at 30% the repair item and 50% the replace item , and u said here that u lose 1 kg from the max last by 10 % wear i am with you all the way but the question is :
    if i wait to 50%and 30% say on 5.5 kg reel so that is a reduce of 5kg +3kg on my reel or on witch part the last well count more on repair or replace. what i know that the 5,5kg reel can handle 2 time so it is 11 kg
    so if i wait to this stage to repair how many kg fish can i handle ? 11 -5 kg =6kg so i still can handle 6kg fish or? this is not easy whis repair system .to know the max last when u get different percentage on gear etc , mabe u can sort it to mee thanks.

      I will talk with our team lead to make sure I have the full data and do a video on the full effects of wear on gear

      @abbasmerhi1 6 лет назад

      very nice i well look forward to this video , i am just worry about waiting to 50% and 30% to not lose a lot of max last , instead i can repair more often before it reach this value but this well cost mee more silver :)

      another question does braid line do more damage on gear , i see many people saying in the chat that they use braid to stuck more kg and line and they say the damage is the same of mono , what i know mono are more elastic and lady said never use braid on feeder so when should we use braid hope u aded that to the video too.

    Does increasing the hook size increase the chance of catch a bigger fish??

    • @Squatchcraft
      @Squatchcraft  5 лет назад +1

      Hook size does not really work like that in rf4, a larger hook does not influence it like in a game like fishing planet. You need bigger hooks for bigger fish but they do not automatically increase your chances really.

    Thanks a lot for those (all, not only this one) videos you're making about RF4.
    Great to see many of you getting involved into ths game, after the whole crap directions choosen by FP devs.
    Keep on with the great work you do, tight lines, and all the best to your channel and for this game.

    I got a reel with 8.5kg and using 10.5kg line is this ok or is this gona cost problems with my reel because the friction brake keeps wearing out

    • @Squatchcraft

      as long as your rod is rated at or above 10.5 kg you will be fine, though the reel will take damage a little faster

    So, there are 2 problems i have found.
    The first is the hooks being destroyed, any tips on how to chose your hook?
    Also, lines are snapping under low pressure without any damage, like RNG. Is that supposed to be happening?

    • @Squatchcraft
      @Squatchcraft  7 лет назад

      lines don't just snap, something is wrong with your set up or you are tying into a very big fish, the odds are big fish because that would damage a cheap hook

    How does a 3kg max drag reel handle 6kg force. then thats a 6kg drag reel..
    LMAO
    I thought it was meant to be more like a sim then Extra fake elements added to game that dont even happen in reel life like rod wear and so on.
    Heck can buy a 10kg rod and land 100 x 10 kg fish a day for next 1,000 days and it still have 0 wear on it.

    • @marmalade6681
      @marmalade6681 5 лет назад

      OK.. 3kg max drag reel will create at maximum 3kg of drag. If it was a 6kg drag reel it would create maximum of 6kg drag. These ratings are about Drag.. not reel strength.
      So putting 6kg line on a 3kg reel will still have a maximum of 3kg drag as per the reel. One advantage to doing this is as line wears it gets weaker.. but you can still put maximum reel drag on the line / fish.

    What about the hooks? It very difficult to decide what hook should i take? Small fish>small hook, big fish>big hook, i know, but how can i know that my hook is too small or too big?

    Meh this game seems like a decent arcade fishing game if you no longer enjoy the more sim like games such as fishing planet. I just had to fight a 8.9kg grass carp for 54 in-game hours, nothing simulation about that at all. Combined with that your avatar casts like a 5 year old girl, and fish consistently getting off hooks due to "cheap" hooks. I think it's rather weird this game is being called a fishing "sim", maybe the devs should go out and fish IRL for a change, and maybe they can find some russian carp that can fight for 54 hours haha.

    • @Squatchcraft
      @Squatchcraft  7 лет назад

      LOL xentro, actually all the people involved in the game are avid fisherman. The casting starts poor because your character is a novice angler and when you invest skill points it gets better and better, also when you engage in a fish fight you and the fish enter real time so you can experience the fight in reel time. The server continues to run time as per usual since many other people are in the same room. So no... you did not actually fight a fish for 54 hours in game.

    • @xentro01
      @xentro01 7 лет назад

      Hmm i don't about that real-time stuff, but that definetly isn't in the game as far as i can tell. You can see that in any youtube video about RF4, last vid i just saw was from a PB black carp, the fight is 12 mins long irl, but the in-game time was around 6 hours or so. And sorry but i have nothing good to say about the casting, you get far too little skill points to invest in casting, you dont even get enough to invest them all into learning a certain fishing style. Casting with most rods is beyond absurd, hell the 7m long bolognese rod i have casts behind me around 50% of the time.
      Edit: I just tested it, every 2.5 seconds or so a minute passes in-game, no matter whether i have a fish on or not.

      Arcade fishing game seriously?? And Fishing Planet is a simulation of fishing?!?!?! You have obviously no idea! If anything Fishing Planet is the arcade fishing game, fish being in one spot all the time at a certain time and certain depth. That is NOTHING like the real world! Real fish MOVE! Real fish do not suddenly appear in a spot at a given time of day and start biting! I have played over 1000 hours on Fishing planet and got so fed up that I could farm a fish at a certain time (getting ONLY that fish) with a certain bait at a certain depth, mainly because it's NOT realistic! Russian fishing 4 is a lot closer to real fishing as the fish move around and don't spawn at a certain time of day in 1 spot on a lake. (And certainly not at a specific time on the hour precisely!)
      And after having 30 years of real fishing experience I kinda know a little bit about it! As to you whining about the avatar not being able to cast very well, I take it you could hit the mark every time after 1 minute of real casting?? (I make the assumption that you have done some real fishing in your life) NO?? What a surprise!
      I suggest if you want a real fishing experience, then get some fishing gear and get out on a lake/river and fish! And if not then produce a better fishing simulation than this! I wish you luck with either of the endeavours!
