The Cheaper and Faster Alternative to PCR with Courtney

ESR's Senior Scientist, Courtney Lynch, takes us into the world of DNA amplification through LAMP (loop-mediated isothermal amplification). LAMP is an alternative to the commonly used PCR (polymerase chain reaction), used for DNA amplification, however LAMP has some beneficial advantages over PCR.
Courtney's SSIF (Strategic Science Investment Fund) project is working on using LAMP in conjunction with CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) for confirmatory body fluid ID, which is usually used in sexual assault cases. This is currently completed using PCR.
