The young, already great, Stevie Winwood on vocals. He went onto Traffic, Blind Faith and a great solo career. You could well be reacting to him for a very long time, one of the best. Try Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, it is a magical tune, his vocals with this amazing music is hypnotic. Enjoy! 🎵🎤🎹🎸🎶
Stevie Winwood such a great artist and fronted so many great bands, Great songwriter and keyboard/ organ player. Try some of his solo stuff..... Roll With It has exactly the same vibe but recordd in the mid to late 80's. Cracking tune!
I had been hearing conflicting information about his age when this was recorded, but I confirmed his birthday, May 1948, and the song was recorded in June 1966, so he was indeed 18. I keep hearing on the radio he was 15-16 years old, but it seems like that's when he joined the band.
Love this. I have seen Stevie (Steve) Winwood perform live with Blind Faith, and the drummer Pete York, with his band, perform live some years later. Both concerts were were fantastic
This song was used in my favorite movie me and my Father watched together Iron Eagle. He was a Air Force man He passed Jan this year he loved that movie R.I.P dad
You go , you dance girl. God damn I got a big, big crush on you Angela. And this is a big big wonder hit of the past. I am so glad it makes you dance and get happy... Cos you make me so happy when u smile and dance!
I was 15 when this came out in 1966 and it really shook things! Steve Winwood, a child prodigy, played the keyboards and sang this at only 16 years of age! (He was born in 1948 so yes children, he was only sixteen!)
His first gigs were in English pubs with his father and uncle. He was so young and obviously very underage that they set up the piano so his back was to the people in the bars.
If you'd be interested in listening to some instrumentals could I suggest for starters, Albatross by Fleetwood Mac and Grooving With Mr Bloe by Mr Bloe and Telstar by The Tornado's and Take Five by The Dave Brubeck Quartet and Stranger On The Shore by Acker Bilk and Midnight In Moscow by Kenny Ball & His Jazzmen.
The evening of September 22, 1987 I was attending a concert by the Grateful Dead at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, Pa.. When the second set began, Guitarist Bob Weir stepped to the microphone and said "I'd like to introduce Spencer Davis". The crowd roared loudly, because we knew what was going to happen. "Gimme Some Lovin' ", with Spencer on lead vocals and the Grateful Dead as his backing band. Needless to say it went very well and the place went nuts at the end of the song, and Bob then said "Say Thank You Spencer". We all did. The Dead wee always very polite to their guests. There is video and excellent audio of the event on RUclips. Maybe you would check that out.? It's FUN to see. Thanks Angela.
Hi DayOne: I hope you will play a number of these songs by The Carpenters: Ticket to Ride; Help; And When He Smiles; A Rainbow Connection; Breaking Up is Hard to do; I can't Smile Without You; I just Keep Falling In Love Again; Make Believe It's Your First Time; Only Yesterday; I'll Never Fall In Love Again; A Place to Hideaway; Mr. Postman; All You Get from Love is a Love Song; I Need Some Time; All of My Life; Bless the Beasts and Children; Calling Your Name Again; I Believe You; I Have You; Jambalaya (On the Bayou); Sweet, Sweet Smile; There's a Kind of Hush; Those Good Old Dreams; Where Do I Go from Here; You. These are all good songs; plus, there are more :)
Boy does this take me back. Summers at the local pool and someone would play this song on the juke box. Made everyone want to get up and dance. BTW the recording used here sounds a little funky. Maybe modified to enhance the stereo separation?. Winwoods vocals sound a little muddy.
You really need to watch some Pentatonix. Start with Daft Punk (which won a Grammy and necessitated a whole new Grammy category) or their "90;s Dance Medley". It is fantastic and you will dance! You probably will know most of the songs too...
The greatest party song ever written by any human being ever.
EVER.
The simply gorgeous Angela surely loving this.
I already liked this song, but watching Angela move and groove to it just makes it better.
It is virtually impossible to listen to this song and NOT move.
😉
@@lazaruslong6382 ...and virtually impossible to watch Angela and not be moved. Gad she likes Winwood, he rocks.
Steve Winwood was only 14 when he was first in the band. That's him singing and playing the Hammond B3 organ.
He also wrote the song.
Great factoid you beat me to it. LOL
I forget where I first heard this, either from the radio or a friend, but whoever hears this song JUST CAN'T SIT STILL (and it's a True Fact) !!!
You first heard it in the opening scene to "Operation Dumbo Drop"

🎉 Woohoo! Can't go wrong with the great Steve Winwood on lead!!
One of the better songs to come out of the sixties, among thousands of course.
That was Steve Winwood on lead vocals, he was only 18 when he recorded this.

Blind Faith "Can't Find My Way Home"...Nuff Said.

You could launch a Steve Winwood channel and I'd be happy. My church has a Hammond B3 and someone who knows how to play it and I couldn't be happier.
Wanna get the party started? Play this track.
Stevie Winwood wrote & sang & played the Hammond B3, all at the age of 16.
I was 15 when this came out in 1966 and it really shook things! Steve Winwood, a child prodigy, played the keyboards and sang this at only 16 years of age! (He was born in 1948 so yes children, he was only sixteen!)
That Hammond Organ in the hands of a man.
His first gigs were in English pubs with his father and uncle. He was so young and obviously very underage that they set up the piano so his back was to the people in the bars.
A mod staple back in the 60’s.
Keep On Running by the SDG is another banger.
Steve Winwood joined the Spencer Davis Group when he was 15. He was barely 18 the day this song was released.
Wow. Blast from the past. Some good Pa memories!
Angela , Steve Winwood was also the organ player too ! Great song timeless! Thank you

It was in the movie Notting Hill.
The singer, Steve Winwood was in his mid-teens when he recorded this song.
An absolutely gorgeous recording...every note is perfect.
15 year old Stevie Winwood on vocals and the Hammond B3 organ. His older brother Muff is on bass.

This is the song the Blues Brothers attempt to play in the country (& western) bar.
WOW Steve Winwood way back in the day thx
Here's a good, deep, rabbit hole not every reactor dives down. 'The Young Rascals' "Groovin" "People Got to be Free" "Good Lovin" so many more.
This is so cool watching Angela morph into a 60's hippie chic...

That’s a young Steve Winwood on lead vocals.
Winwood is a legend 🤘🤘
Steve Windwood was singing this song when he was 19 years old. The only thing hotter than this beat is your moves.
Boy does this take me back. Summers at the local pool and someone would play this song on the juke box. Made everyone want to get up and dance. BTW the recording used here sounds a little funky. Maybe modified to enhance the stereo separation?. Winwoods vocals sound a little muddy.
Yea, but it fits the song!
😃😃👏🏻👏🏻
i think you did a review of one of his songs...Steve Winwood.
You really need to watch some Pentatonix. Start with Daft Punk (which won a Grammy and necessitated a whole new Grammy category) or their "90;s Dance Medley". It is fantastic and you will dance! You probably will know most of the songs too...
It needs more COWBELL!
I think he was 17 singing this. Oh an the whole song was written in less than 3 hours. Apparently
Hi Angela ❤️ 👋
Steve Winwood was just 18 when they recorded this. I could barely tie my shoes at 18.
Welcome to England in the 1960's
Cutie
Supposedly they wrote and arranged this song in like 20 minutes.
