"I Want to Know What Love Is" is a 1984 power ballad recorded by the British-American rock band Foreigner. The song hit #1 in both the UK and the U.S. and is the band's most successful single. It remains one of the band's best known songs and most enduring radio hits, charting in the top 25 in 2000, 2001 and 2002 on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Recurrents chart. Written by Mick Jones with some degree of uncredited contribution by Lou Gramm,[citation needed] and produced by Jones and Alex Sadkin, it was the first single released from the album Agent Provocateur (1984). "I Want to Know What Love Is" reached number one in the UK Singles Chart on 15 January 1985 and stayed there for three weeks. It reached the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 on 2 February 1985 where it stayed for two weeks.
Other covers of this song have been recorded by familiar artists as diverse as Dame Shirley Bassey, Progressive rock keyboardist Geoffrey Downes, pop chanteuses Rita Coolidge, Latin crooner Julio Iglesias, Memphis soul singer Ann Peebles and Christian pop artist Kathy Troccoli.

She didn't need to have half-naked dancers on the stage, didn't need see-through outfits, didn't have to hang from a trapeze while singing... she just stood on the stage and you were captivated by her voice and her emotions in every single song. I went to three of her concerts and one was better than the other. For me the best female singer and performer of all times. Did I mention that I have 15 LPs, 19 CDs and three concert videos from her 😅

She was the most spiritual performer I have ever witnessed in person. And I have seen most of the greatest artists of them all. Barbra, Liza, Ella, Lena, Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney. She made me cry with this song when I saw her in Ft. Lauderdale in 1990. This song just transports me back to that night. I cried again listening to her soulful impact rendition of this song. She is magical, and one of the greatest artists of all time.
