Retired NYPD Captain here. I’ve dealt with the best prosecutors in the Country, in the Manhattan DA’s office. They would frequently tell me they know criminal law, not real estate law or personal injury law or whatever type of question I was trying to ask.
Not to mention SHE'S MARRIED! Well, she was. Most of us wives take our husband's word for it when they say they've paid the property taxes, reviewed the IRS documents, etc and sign. Wives trust and believe their husband is being honest about finances, housing, etc. to keep our home & children safe.
What's your point that happens more than you think -- plus I don't think she's working -- but also my cousin and her husband divorced but continued to live together -- she filed -- he refused to leave - they lived together at least 15 yrs after the divorce until his death -- she also ended up taking care of him in sickness although they were still divorced -- call it crazy - call it love or just stubbornness...... 🤷

I think we should be absolutely fair to her and point out that she had no reason to expect she would get caught.
