You can tell he's not freestyling. It's clear he's not searching for new ideas in real time. He's reciting words he's already comfortably memorized. There's no stress in his visage. If he were freestyling (even for those who are the best), there would still be a number of moments when he doesn't altogether get out of the tempo, but where he'd drag it out/extend it to the nth degree, without actually disrupting the flow of the tempo, in order to find the best possible rhyme in the time he had allotted.
There's none of this dance with creativity and the given parameters of time, pacing and syncopation at play here. He's instead, clearly presenting a finished work. Disappointing that they're misrepresenting the idiom. Especially, as I only found this channel yesterday, and two guys in that video performed an amazing call and response format freestyle. Hence, they know artists capable of it. It's too bad they won't, or aren't allowed to - let those true freestylers be the sole focus of segment...
